  1. Well, this is a fine thread, I just spent all morning reading it and not getting on with my entry, lots of interesting ideas, especially the offer to photo any entry from Phil. but I will not pay the travelling expenses to Australia. This is an ideal comp for me because I don't have to send in the entry, just pictures. also I have only seen entries which seem to be from the UK. This should appeal to more from us Colonials. No huge expenses of packaging and Postage. I don't expect to win, but I am having a blast trying new things and learning new ideas on how to do them. Geoff in Oz
  2. Groundwork started, glue not dry yet, and Ballasting started, have to paint it a dirty grey colour also need to add more dry grass around. also the windmill, which keeps loosing its top, superglue is not so super.
  3. Maybe you could build inside the box with one side cut out and modelled to be the shop door and window. The inside of the box as the shop interior with shelves and counter and even customers. Fix the lid on and you can only see in through the window. Geoff in Oz
  4. Have not done any work on the diorama as I have been spending my time watching some people playing with 12"to1' railways outside, they are relaying the track and now loading two diesels, two carriages and ten hoppers on the track with a giant crane to do the ballasting. Lots of fun, and I thought ballasting was a tedious job,
  5. Hi Jerry, maybe you could set it inside a model railway shop, that way you would have lots of railway related items Geoff in Oz
  6. Time to put the idea into practice. As this is also the first time I have joined a blog site, is this how I add to my post? I think I will have to add a few small dead trees, this is what we see in Oz
  7. This is a few firsts for me, first comp entry, first white metal kit, first HO Scale, First Australian scene. The idea is a curve of track going over a dry creek bed, past a windmill dead tree and Kangaroos, with a dirt road crossing. This may take some time as I have three layouts on the go and many card kits to build. also first have to build a cake box to those sizes, the only cake box I have is a cheesecake shop box which is to big.
