  1. Metromodels ones? And yes, you have been following it closely!
  2. I do wonder if, with withdrawal a little over a month a way, EFE/Bachmann missed a trick with not producing a current condition 483. I suspect interest in the class has never been higher.
  3. AHEM!!! I object! I thought that in this thread I was the host! I hereby resign from this committee! (Looks around hopefully, wishing to see panic and sorrow on the other members' faces, begging him to come back. Mr E. Dwardian shows him the door...)
  4. I'm looking at modelling an IoW subject at some point to provide a home for this; (Had to be done given I will soon be helping take delivery of a real one... Yes I will keep bragging about it. Website here; www.lttractiongroup.co.uk) Either that or the Epping Ongar Railway. I'm thinking of possibly doing either a Pier Head shuttle unit job or doing a Ventnor 'What if' so as to free my hand enough to actually have a station of a size I can model but with some degree of operational interest. I'd love to do Ryde St John's Road at any period of its history but just don't have room. Heck, I'd love to do the entire island railway system at any point in its history! It's the only railway that continues to hold my interest in its modern form, although that interest will likely wane after the '38 tube stock leaves and the Island Line ceases to be completely unlike any other. It's the ultimate 'full system' model railway! I second @Northroader in his book recommendation: Lots of hugely inspirational eye candy in there.
  5. I suppose you're right. It just seems strange that a class with 30+ kids in is fine whilst any more than 6 in any other environment apparently isn't. And they then wondered why cases rocketed once the schools reopened. Not everyone needed to be in school, in-person. And if it causes social problems for them then too bloody bad; They can learn what its like to have nobody to speak to most of the time and to feel cut off by their peers. Most of them have social media anyhow, which I didn't have the luxury of. Sorry, just a bit sour about that. I heard lots of complaints first time about children not seeing their friends and my main thought was that they were lucky to have any in the first instance. Anyway, another problem is that most children and university students, unfortunately, seem to still be meeting in large and non-essential groups. I was kept up again last night by a group of approximately 12 of my fellow students drinking, smoking and I think consuming illegal substances outside my room; I've complained about it several times and nothing seems to be done. They all seem to think Covid will avoid them, I reckon; Yes it doesn't affect the young quite so much but it can still affect them and with the right conditions can still kill them. And we're not even in lockdown or tiers. Mind you, this time round I gather that precious few people in England are abiding by the rules; From what family have said on the 'phone people are being more sensible up here, where we're out of lockdown, than down there where you'd be hard pushed to tell that they're in it.
  6. May I just ask why the schools are still open? It seems highly illogi... Ah, that would be why then.
  7. Putting my neck out there, but if she were male and white I do wonder whether she'd still be in office. Oh yes, of course she would; White Male Privilege...
  8. A poor choice of words on my part; I'm now confused by what e actually meant. I'm tired...
  9. Not the interview I saw but sounds as if he says similar; I agree with him wholeheartedly.
  10. I watched an interview with the chap who plays that character, in which the interviewer accuses him of being popular with the far right; Turns out he's a traditional socialist who seems to have similar gripes with aspects of modern politics as several around here.
  11. We have two of those at Medstead & Four Marks Station playing the part of the archetypal country station cat (They're located in different positions). Sometimes people think they're real and can be most alarmed -at first- when I knock on its back and it sounds hollow. Or pick it up as one unit and bash it against the fire extinguisher cabinet which one of them sits on... We're dreadfully professional, really! But occasional silliness doesn't go amiss, provided it doesn't affect the safety of ourselves, passengers, anyone else or the trains. So for those wanting railway content I provide a shot from Medstead & Four Marks and some from my more recent volunteering activities; (Not my photo, but I am in it!) Oh and this is, it would seem, my next project, although it's yet to be officially confirmed;
  12. Ah, that's the Shapeways one... www.cdc-design.net Just realised that the J65 hasn't been done yet, but other GER 0-6-0t designs have been. I gather the J65 will follow.
  13. CDC Designs do a reasonable 3D Printed Buckjumper, in both LNER and GER condition, to fit the old Hornby Terrier chassis.
  14. Most of my old mags concern the prototype unfortunately, ranging from 1912 to 1950, but I do have some 1937, '38 and 1940s copies of The Model Railway News that I ought to have a proper look at someday.
  15. I shall pass your thanks on to the person who took the shot! I was merely the one in the shot who definitely wasn't having a tremendous amount of fun wandering around town dressed like that...
  16. Given the lack of activity on this thread, I suppose I ought to post the photos we entered for the competition I referred to above; A more suitable version of the outline photo above. This didn't really need any editing so my friend just put it into Black & White and we were done. I was given the right to enter this one as although I didn't take any of the photos (I'm in them!) I did the substantial editing required to get the final image.
  17. A recurring idea of mine is to one day model the railways of the Western Front so thank you for this!
  18. It ran away from Wimbledon depot and collided with the flyover after derailing, I believe.
  19. Unfortunately the Wikipedia article doesn't say, so I'm hoping that means that nobody was seriously harmed.
  20. Maybe not, but I'd happily spend lockdown with a CIG...
  21. If you're after locomotives then a good place to start would be http://brdatabase.info, looking at Eastleigh and Fratton MPDs would perhaps give you some idea of what could have worked the line. Combine that with searching online for photos and that may give you a fair idea. I'm sure others around here will have better suggestions for you though.
  22. To be honest I can't see much similarity, besides the wheel arrangement, between the M1 and the Drummond-inspired bash in the post before that. The M1 looks altogether smaller to me, although that is probably just the effect of a taller chimney (And the GCR's bigger loading gauge).
