  9. Here are some more pictures for this thread of Brantford, Ontario. The inventor of the telephone was the late Alexander Graham Bell and he lived in this city. Brantford is not too far from Hamilton. The Canadian National Railway(CN) used to do street running down Clarence Street in Brantford(in these pictures). Today, the Southern Ontario Railway does the street running and is owned by Genesee & Wyoming. http://www.railpictures.net/photo/419900/ http://www.railpictures.net/photo/420314/ http://www.railpictures.net/photo/463068/ Wendell Idaho, USA

  12. Nice picture of the Boston & Maine in Portland, Maine. Paul Boehlert had made a layout modeling Portland, Maine in the Model Railroader magazine(about two years ago). Wendell Idaho, USA
  13. "That almost looks like a model with the ubiquitous roadworks cameo." Cheers, Mick By looking at how some of the streets are formed(with one car driving in each direction) and the tracks being embedded into a reddish clay-looking concrete, that picture looks like a model railroad. Wendell Idaho, USA
  14. Here is a picture of Hampton Roads Transit's Tide light rail train in Norfolk, Virginia. The train is at the MacArthur Square station in Downtown Norfolk. City Hall Avenue, Plume Street, Bank Street, and Atlantic Street all surround the MacArthur Square station. The Tide light rail route is 7.4 miles(11.9 kilometers) long and it runs entirely in the City of Norfolk(to the City of Virginia Beach border). The Tide trains started running in 2011 well after my time of being in Norfolk for an extended time. I was stationed on a ship with the United States Navy at Naval Station Norfolk(the largest naval base in the world) back in the 1990's. http://www.railpictures.net/photo/545083/ Wendell Idaho, USA
  15. Here are some pictures of a Norfolk Southern freight train running down Scott Street in Bristol, Virginia. State Street separates the two Bristols; one in Virginia and the other in Tennessee. On the Tennessee side, Bristol is home to the Bristol Motor Speedway(NASCAR racing). http://www.railpictures.net/photo/350334/ http://www.railpictures.net/photo/268988/ http://www.railpictures.net/photo/138793/ Wendell Idaho, USA
  16. "Geep 35 in "Arizona and California"" Hey Jack, the Arizona & California Railroad is in the Mojave Desert of the two namesake states with a branch line to Phoenix, Arizona(via BNSF trackage rights). As far as the type of trees to use, I would say use either Joshua trees or deciduous trees. Wendell Idaho, USA
  17. Go ahead, Jack! Get that layout back out! I am sure that everyone would love to see pictures circa-2018!http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/30394 http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/30075 http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/30975 Wendell Idaho, USA
  18. "Chicago Fork could easily masquerade as - LA circa 1970 - 1990s (paired SP SW1500s and western RR stock) - LA circa 1990 - 2000 (paired ex-SP + UP SW1500s and western stock) - Florida 1980 - 2000 (Apalachicola Northern SW1500 + caboose and ??? stock, just need to add a palm tree... ;-) ) - Chicago circa "CB&Q" era (as designed, with Atlas CB&Q GP40 + caboose and ??? stock) - Chicago 1990 - 2010 (IHB SW1500 + PB1 and ??? stock) - NY/NJ 1990 - 2000 (NYCH S1, S4, or NW2 and eastern stock)" Or one of the following: - Seattle 1970's to mid-1990's(BN or UP locomotives with mostly western cars) - Seattle mid-1990's to present(BNSF, UP, or Tacoma Rail locomotives with mostly western cars) - Portland, Oregon depending on timeframe(SP/UP, BN/BNSF, or Portland & Western locomotives with mostly western cars) - Spokane, Washington depending on timeframe including the predecessors(BNSF, UP, or MRL locomotives with mostly western cars) - Vancouver, BC depending on timeframe(BC Rail, CN, CP, or BN/BNSF locomotives with mostly western cars) - San Francisco/Oakland/San Jose depending on timeframe(SP/UP or ATSF/BNSF locomotives with mostly western cars) - Denver depending on timeframe(DRGW/SP/UP or ATSF/BN/BNSF locomotives with mostly western cars) - Kansas City depending on timeframe(MP/MKT/UP, ATSF/BN/BNSF, or KCS locomotives with mostly western and midwestern cars) - Salt Lake City depending on timeframe(DRGW/SP/UP, Utah Railway, or Salt Lake City Southern Railroad locomotives with mostly western cars) - Phoenix depending on timeframe(SP/UP or ATSF/BNSF locomotives with mostly western cars) Wendell Idaho, USA
  19. I know that I am rehashing this old thread. I want to say to Jack that you had built a nice, simple, and interesting layout. This Inglenook layout can also be built without a sector plate(using two turnouts/switches) and in any scale. Using the same operating example Jack pointed out, this layout can also be built into a 4-3-2(5 cars), 4-3-3(6 cars), or 5-4-3(7 cars) Inglenook. Wendell Idaho, USA
  20. "This is also why I prefer to cast Inglenooks as "Main, pass/drill, and carspot-spur" arrays. The "Main and drill" pair is typical of one end of a runaround (the "other end" is well out-of-sight and mind a conceptual mile or more away), and gives a plausible "working space" which is not "a private industry spur."" Hey Professor Klyzlr, this above paragraph is similar operation to the "Chicago Fork"(yours) and "Fiddlestick Switch Job" layouts. Wendell Idaho, USA
  21. Nice American-based switching layout in TT scale! Wendell Idaho, USA
  22. I had just found this thread. I like the second track plan better than the first one because it gives you a classic Inglenook yard layout. Despite the fact that I live in The States, I love the standard Inglenook layout better than the standard Timesaver layout because Inglenook layouts are more prototypical and they use less turnouts(switches). Wendell Idaho, USA
  23. Here are some more pictures from Anaheim, California with the train now running down Santa Ana Street. http://www.railpictures.net/photo/455598/ http://www.railpictures.net/photo/241105/ http://www.railpictures.net/photo/113789/ http://www.railpictures.net/photo/83228/ http://www.railpictures.net/photo/64667/ http://www.railpictures.net/photo/353698/ http://www.railpictures.net/photo/329663/ Wendell Idaho, USA
  24. More pictures from my native metropolitan area of Los Angeles. Here are some pictures of a Southern Pacific/Union Pacific train running down Olive Street in Anaheim, California past and present. Anaheim is about 35 miles(56 kilometers) southeast of Los Angeles via the Santa Ana Freeway(Interstate 5). Anaheim is home to Disneyland, NHL's Anaheim Ducks, and MLB's Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. http://www.railpictures.net/photo/241821/ http://www.railpictures.net/photo/369795/ http://www.railpictures.net/photo/152699/ http://www.railpictures.net/photo/77715/ http://www.railpictures.net/photo/101391/ http://www.railpictures.net/photo/218173/ Wendell Idaho, USA
