Sweet Home Chicago: Riding the L
Wendell1976 replied to trisonic's topic in USA & Canadian Railroads
This is a very cool video of CTA's Brown Line, Pete! I really enjoyed it. However, I tried to transfer to the different lines on my smartphone, but it wouldn't work. Is there any way you can put up separate video clips on this post for all the routes including the Red Line and the Blue Line? The Red and Blue Lines are the two most busiest routes on the "L" system. I had ridden the "L" trains many years ago during trips to Chicago and when I was on military duty with the United States Navy in that metropolitan area. Wendell Idaho, USA -
59th AND RUST ( NOW retired 2021)
Wendell1976 replied to long island jack's topic in USA & Canadian Railroads
Raymond, I agree with you. I feel that Model Railroader should share more layouts and track plans that are 16 square feet or less(e.g.- a 2X8 layout). Wendell Idaho, USA https://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/30394 -

Wendell1976 replied to long island jack's topic in USA & Canadian Railroads
Raymond O'Neill(Long Island Jack), congratulations on having your 59th and Rust layout featured in the April 2019 Model Railroader magazine issue. I had just received my MR issue a few days ago in the mail. You have done a wonderful job capturing the spirit of New York and New Jersey with your modeling and detailing. Keep up the good work! Lakemont - Freelance US Switching layout
Wendell1976 replied to Seb's topic in USA & Canadian Railroads
Sebastien, I had received a 2019 Model Railroad Planning magazine(from Model Railroader) about 3 weeks ago or so. I had read your article and saw the nice pictures of your Lake Valley & Northern layout. You have built a nice, simple layout with only six turnouts. Congratulations on having your layout featured in Model Railroad Planning and keep up the good work! Wendell Idaho, USA -

CN Freight Train derailment caught on dashcam
Wendell1976 replied to mdvle's topic in USA & Canadian Railroads
Thank God no one got injured or worst of all, killed when all of those cars derailed. There were several automobiles waiting at the railroad crossing and if one of those train cars struck a vehicle, someone could have died! Wendell Idaho, USA -

To add to what Keith had just shared(about railroad tracks going through a traffic circle/roundabout), here's another example of railroad tracks in a roundabout. This picture is a Utah Transit Authority(UTA) TRAX light rail train in Salt Lake City, Utah. The light rail tracks cut through the campus of The University Of Utah along Campus Drive. Guardsman Way intersects Campus Drive at the roundabout. http://www.railpictures.net/photo/545179/ Wendell Idaho, USA -
