It is official. The Surface Transportation Board has okayed the CP-KCS merger. The CPKC does not have to give any trackage rights or rail lines to another railroad. Here's a couple of pictures of a train crossing the Holcomb Creek Trestle near Helvetia, Oregon. In the first picture, the former Burlington Northern crossing the trestle in 1994. In the second picture, it's the modern-day Portland & Western Railroad in 2017. The Holcomb Creek Trestle is the longest wooden trestle still in use by a railroad in the United States.
