  1. Hello ding to thecpassingvof Leslie Phillips. We have had a rainstorm here too now lots of standing surface water. There are allegedly remains of bell pits in Pontefract Park down towards the M62 end. They dug out what they could before air fouled as they didn't understand the need for updraught and downdraught shafts and air doors
  2. I am still alive just The Mrs is getting stressed about dust and mess. It would all seem to be my fault
  3. When we had the roller shutter garage door fitted the fitter said he would get £9 a piece for the doors
  4. If you hear nothing else from me I will have been buried under the back garden
  5. Clang crash bang here this morning The great bathroom refit has started The Mrs is calling me all sorts of unrepeatable names. This is another example of why me and the apprentice do most of the jobs. Currently it sounds like my tiling is being removed from the wall
  6. In cake related news the youngest is making LDC next week at school I am now hunting a pachyderm and ursineproof transport flask to get it home
  7. I watched a BBC documentary on the Himalayan and Darjeeling line the night my eldest was born. It was amazing. One of my bucket list items is to go to NY to ride the subway. The other is to go to Vienna to visit the family of the guy I tried to save at my cousins wedding and his grave I doubt I will ever be able to afford either
  8. Had a weird happening in B&M this morning its really impacted on me it would probably be nothing to other people. I picked up one of those pill boxes that sort tablets in to days for the eldest. I went to get some paracetamol for myself I noticed that the Saturday and Sunday compartments wouldn't shut properly. So i went to return the box and pick up another one. I couldn't find them again I looked up and down even retracing my steps 3 times. I put the unwanted box on the shelf near toothpaste when I came back that had even dissappeared
  9. Or run road rollers at them see how fast they move off the road then. Or just leave the road open. Haulage firms should be able to sue the ar5es off Just stop oil for lost earnings etc.
  10. Usually I have seen on track plant moves on Real time trains. And measurement train runs. I can see them come past from our bedroom window
  11. The new radiator grille has arrived from Germany this morning. Not bad service to say I ordered it late Monday and they had to order the part in. Now to see if it's the right fit although that will be a later date. I use Autodoc (download the app its cheaper pricing) it all comes from Germany the bits I have bought have all been OEM and half the price if not even cheaper than main dealer
  12. Morning all The Gen set was being refuelled by a pick up with a bowser. I am not sure whether they are refuelling as they expect it to be there a while or if it's to keep it ready for another job. The bathroom fitters are coming tomorrow at last. So i hope the power does stay on.
  13. I have only read the Thursday Murder club and enjoyed it I haven't come across a charity shop copy of the man who died twice yet. I am on the lookout though. Currently reading 809 Squadron about Sea Harriers and the Falklands War. Just finished Clive Cussler's The Devils Gate.
  14. Had no power for most of day no charge on phone or tablet. I lent the power banks to the eldest so he could watch kickball. @New Haven Neil the IOM VC winner was a Major Cain he did some remarkable things at Arnhem with a PIAT despite losing sight in an eye iirc. Jeremy Clarkson made a documentary series on VC winners he was one of them. It turned out Major Cain was his FIL at the time. The doc may be available on You Tube. Forgot to mention our streets substation is connected in to a gen set on the back of a 45' flat trailer parked at side. So goodness knows what gone wrong
  15. I have had to relent and turn the heating on for an hour i amnfrozen stiff and have turned in.
  16. What about wiring the lamps up to a cattle prod or taser every time the lamp is changed zzzap
  17. I have an NVQ level 2 in cleansing from the council
  18. One thing I have managed to do is get this poster put up. I was going to frame it but it is bigger than a standard poster and it would have cost too many muddling tokens
  19. Afternoon all Scattered showers here everything cold and damp. Under the Boss's orders to rest my knee so haven't done much. As kids we were encouraged by Mum and Dad to the best we could at school. They even had a sliding scale of cash rewards for GCSE results. We were never pushed into going into any particular path. One phrase I was told that if we didn't do well at school we would end up sweeping the streets. Funny thing was after a cruel twist of fate I did well at school/college and university I did end up sweeping the streets and really enjoyed it the lads were great the middle management not so great they were scared because i knew some transport laws off by heart
  20. My Cousin Matt worked on the Disney Aurora for a while back in the noughties
  21. What a tragic waste of a young life @Oldddudders Hope Sherry gets released tomorrow
  22. I have had to look up the Gympie plant. I have to ask why the bl00dy hell does someone want to grow them. Although they would be better at keeping out intruders than a border full of triffids
  23. A problem we came across time and again. We used to get jobs to go and pick up flytipping that weren't on council land, we couldn't touch them. Flytipping on council land we often used to find names and addresses the items were photographed and bagged handed in to the office where more often than not the Muppets would lose the evidence
