  1. That sounds similar to what my Dad has got with the balance problems except he doesn't have the absence. His Brother has the same condition but it has affected his speech
  2. Just a shame they didn't have a couple of hungry guard dogs to keep them company
  3. I did see a sugar tanker take the front off a police Astra there once. FIL was the secretary of that WMC These on a Landy? Top stuff
  4. @woodenheadmost of the objections seem to be that they think the lithium batteries will explode I looked at getting a quote for solar panels one of the firms wasnt taking on new customers due to a shortage of components. The other one I found started from £6k without battery storage. It's a bit pricey for me
  5. ThAfternoon all On a Friday that feels like a Saturday. Luckily both Boys finished school/college yesterday so I could have a lie in for a bit. I am really worried that Swmbo is suffering from health anxiety in a bad way. Have had a trip to Ikea to get Lucas a new chair for his desk and a few other things including some candles and lanterns to keep them in. Like @woodenhead I look round at the old pit sites and former power stations and wonder why. I know there are environmental issues but surely someone had to think of energy security. Locally there are plans for a lithium battery farm at Heath Common to store excess electricity from renewable sources but there is very heavy opposition both the usual NIMBY and the fact it is close to the chemical plant on Calder Vale Road. The site was chosen due to its proximity to the former Wakefield power station and its access to the National Grid.
  6. Well that's a few more hours I won't get back. 6 hours at the hospital with her ladyship. She had a pain in her side and rang 111 told her to go to A&E as she has a hernia Everything is ok for now at least I am cream crackered now and off to bed
  7. Rain not stopped it has become heavier. There is a lot of surface water about. It is flooded under the railway bridge at Ferrybridge but passable in Vikingar the Volvo - slowly and cadence braking on the other side of the water to dry the brakes. Like @woodenhead I was wondering about those undersea cables. Oh well the Westminster pantomime starts again. How depressingly boring all the hot air coming out of the Commons chamber from both sides should be captured and used to heat London
  8. I have just finished reading The Second Messiah, they have put forward an interesting theory to the creation of The Turin Shroud that the image is that of Jacques de Molay the last Grand Master of the Knights Templar. Overall it was a thought provoking read now I am starting another Jack Reacher novel
  9. NATO standard tea is drank in our house but with 2 sweeteners instead of the sugar.
  10. Good morning Dull and drizzly this morning although we have missed the thunderstorms so far. They have passed over the dales. Like @jamie92208 I wonder what the public sector pension increase would be. I think to save money they should cut MP salary and benefits before anyone else's. "We are all in in together" allegedly Mnemonics I had one for the Geological periods I can't repeat it here as it would break all kinds of rules. Likewise the one for trigonometry Sex On Holiday is the only part I can quote
  11. Looks like we have a new new Home Secretary
  12. @polybear I always thought KFC was pigeons out of the town centre.
  13. As it happens @Happy Hippo we had our new roller shutter garage door fitted yesterday afternoon. Ours is running on an extension cable until the weekend until I have time to wire it up properly. The fitter did offer to do it for an extra £50 but i have most of the materials in stock I just need to buy a new single socket front from Toolstation. The next job is to spray some concrete sealer on the floor to stop the dust on the floor area we have cleared then move the assortment of stuff left to the front of the garage then do the sealant on the back of the floor. It's a damn sight warmer in there already. We have redone the lighting with an Led batten (I may fit another one at the back but will see how we go). The ceiling has been lined with polystyrene tiles (fire retardant ones). Hopefully we can start building a layout at some point soon .
  14. I was always an avid reader, reading both fact and fiction
  15. As promised photos of Ted Christmas
  16. Good morning Top Gun 2 is just like 633 squadron too. Today I am on a grand tour of Yorkshire to find the Eldest a suit (he is a big lad) we have so far been to the centre of the known Universe (Barnsley) I am now sat in a car park off York Road in Leeds close to the Irish Centre. Whilst coming here I did happen to spot going over the viaduct towards York an LNER class 91 in the Intercity Swallow livery looks very good I must say. I have one of my childhood teddies left Ted Christmas is his name. He usually sports a Royal Artillery regimental tie. I will see if he wants to do a foto shoot later. He has been repaired in the past in my Grandma's teddy hospital. His fur has been protected by an old pair of pyjamas made into a bodysuit and his paws recovered in what used to be an old body warmer.
  17. Garage door man arrived removal of old door ongoing. When they have finished I will have to hardwire the wiring in. The motor terminates to a 3 pin plug, I have supplied an extension lead as a temporary fix. I have plenty of suitable twin and earth cable I just need a unswitched socket and run the cable back to a junction box that supplies an existing socket. That's a job for the weekend (or next week as its half term already)
  18. The photos of the machine shop on HMS Belfast remind me of the machine shop in my Grandads foundry. Thanks for sharing @grandadbob. Garage door man just rung he is an hour away he got held up on his first job. JYSK was visited this morning for a duvet for the eldest. After avoiding an asthma attack on top of a chest infection (due to feather allergy) i found one at a reasonable price , went to the till no one around waited 5 minutes still no one. Ended up googling their phone number and ringing them. The woman behind me in the queue was laughing when an assistant finally answered the phone i asked them to turn round because there was a q at the till. I would have left it but the prices they are charging for duvets now you would think they were selling you a bed with it.
  19. @jamie92208 I would have thought you would know a couple of candidates who would be able to start the car up without the need for keys
  20. By heck the wind has got up its blowing a right hoolie outside
  21. In last months Railway Modeller there was a guy in NZ who had built some pretty impressive Gauge 1 viaducts for his garden layout. The prototype wasn't as visually stunning as some of the Swiss viaducts thought.
  22. The street where I grew up had 11A instead of 13
  23. I have a Halfords/Ring battery charger/maintainer. My car could do with a battery maintenance cycle before winter hits. Like Tony's its ip66 I just run an extension cable to the garage door then plug it in.
  24. Looks like the eco nutters have climbed on to the Dartford crossing bridge.
  25. Kimberly Davis played Annalise in Neighbours. I used to watch Neighbours in my teens @polybear I saw a documentary on lifesize rubber dolls in the States. They even had breathing motions on them, perhaps they could make a JA one
