  1. Sorry if I'm repeating questions already asked but I'm in a position where I'm very tempted by a Hattons 66, specifically one of the Freightliner locos, I have read some of the 170 pages on this thread (I will fess up and say I haven't read all of them, I've not got the time) and I'm aware of the potential issues with the axle boxes which to be fair, with guidance on here I'm pretty confident I could sort out if they become an issue. The same applies if any bits fall off to be honest. What im not confident about rectifying is the electronic side of things, folk have mentioned some lighting functions not working? I'm wondering if this just affects certain models or if its hit and miss? Im not actually to fussed about day/night functions, just so long as it has three white lights on the front and reds on the rear, i wont use the day/night function nor would i use cab lights. That all said, am i best avoiding certain models? Im tempted with some of the second hand models, the ones with scratched handrails and glue marks dont bother me to much as im guessing these can be hidden by weathering? Lastly, while I've been looking at the green Freightliner locos i did see a model of 66623 in Freightliner G&W Orange, however it looks pale in the photos as per the orange that 66413 got, can anyone say either way if 66623 is the right shade of orange, i seen 66623 when it was first painted and it was a much deeper shade than that of 66413. Ta.
  2. Just thought id add these pics ive taken over the past week, many different types of HOA wagons.
  3. Well this week i had another 4 Mendip Rail liveried JNAs arrive from those nice people down at Camborne... This now takes my rake up to 16 wagons (12 from Camborne, 4 from Guildford), my day job now nearly daily sees me going into Whatley or Torr (Merehead) quarries (sometimes both) im noticing the Touax liveried JNA wagons are increasingly mingled inbetween the silver/grey wagons, that said this week i did notice a full rake of silver/grey JNAs being shunted at Whatley, one of which was one of the wagons numbered by Kernow/Revolution, i was a bit miffed i couldnt grab my phone quick enough to grab a pic before it dissapeared behind other wagons, but hey ho, ive written down the numbers of the 4 Kernow/Revolution have done and will be keeping an eye open for them. Come on Revolution, i was going to stick with 16 wagons but ive decided i could justify 5-6 more in Touax livery to mix into my rake. I note Kernow have advertised as having low stocks of their JNAs, is now the time to do another batch????? Id like to get my rake of JNAs finished as a certain someone has announced they are going to start producing the Mendip HOAs of which i will also need a rake!!!!
  4. Has anyone got or seen a video of a loco fitted with the type of smoke generator the Dapol 59 will have? Curious as to how it will look and the effect it will have?
  5. Apologies to Nick for adjusting his photo but in my opinion, as nice as the new livery is, this would have looked better.
  6. I really wish everyone would stop calling them 'red' Toaux wagons.... They just look brown to me, lol. I noticed a youtube video the other day with 59002 pulling a rake of brand new hopper wagons, also in the Toaux livery. Im not sure what they were though, im tempted to say HOI hoppers but I don't think they were?
  7. Revolution trains...… just a thought, but you may well be missing out on an open goal here..... Is there any possibility of also doing Caroline in '0' gauge? I would have thought the average home made/based 0 gauge layout would be quite small, hence an 0 gauge Caroline would work beautifully with your 0 gauge DRS class 37/4???? I don't model 0 gauge, I was just thinking what you could pull in 0 gauge with a DRS 37/4, and Caroline seems to be the obvious answer?
  8. Friend of mine has had a phone call from Locomotion Models to tell him his model of 33116 is on route to him, anyone else got theirs yet? Apparantly they arrived just as everyone was put on Furlough, so couldn't be dispatched, be interesting to see how that measures up. Here (hopefully) is the pic of it pinched off their site....
  9. Thanks for that Steadfast, knew about the Fareham, Eastleigh and Botley trains as they are local to me, good to have the rough consists of the other trains though, thanks.
  10. When Dapol do 59003 it will be interesting to see if/how they model the top centre headlight, or if (like Hornby) they just put a sticker in its place?
  11. Well, that is a shame, I donated money to the 71a Locomotive group towards the real D6515 and I really wanted this model to put in the cabnet alongside my model of D400 which I also ploughed a small fortune into its restoration. Sadly I will give this a miss, im afraid for me these models are getting far to expensive to just except simple livery errors like this, its almost as though manufacturers these days think we will just except livery errors because the detail is so good, but ive got to the point I wont accept it. The ironic thing being is at the moment this has cost Heljan two sales, as I would have ordered 33026 in Dutch as well, this will now be possibly an impulse buy at a later date as opposed to a gauranteed sale now.
  12. Has anybody got their hands on the BR Green D6515 yet, im curious as to how the colour of the white/cream looks? Looks to be white in the photo I seen on Kernows site?
  13. Ive not yet got my hands on a Hattons class 66 (my mate has got the pink one on order so ill see his as soon as he gets it), however going by reports on this forum the rotating axle boxes fall off and other bits are prone to damage, having held the class 59 EP can you shed (no pun intended) any light on if you think the 59 might suffer the same issues, or did it look and feel like it was bit more well put together and robust to handling etc?
  14. Crikey, how have I missed this thread up until now? I'll just throw my hat into the ring and say if these are made in 00 gauge I would most definetly buy some, Dapol are doing the O&K wagons and they are all mixed in together on trains on the B&H and Eastleigh trains (the ones I watch most). The N gauge ones are very impressive.
  15. I quite often watch the stone trains on the Berks & Hants route, quite a few of these about now in this brown livery. Come on Kernow (hint hint) lol.
  16. As said above 66413 carries a lighter shade of orange compared to the other 4 repaints, the Hattons model of 66623 looks like it carries the original lighter shade of orange as per 66413, which would make in inaccurate, 66623 should be a much deeper shade of orange, however, im wondering if it maybe the camera changing things because as soon as 66587 came out the box I wasn't convinced, my initial thought was it looked more purple than pink. A friend has 'Pinky' (my nickname for it) on order so I will look forward to looking at it. Given the detail of 66782 in Biffa livery with the silver around the cab windows i'll be surprised of the shade of orange and pink used on 66623 & 66582 is wrong.
  17. Has anyone heard any whispers or rumors as to how progress is going with these wagons and when we might start to see them in the shops? Ive got 8 of the RevolutioN JNA's and have decided 12 is probably a realistic length to model in 00 scale, one more set of 4 when I next visit those nice chaps at Kernow MC, Guildford and I will be done with them (unless I decide to get a rake of GBRf ones to model the Southampton Gypsum train) and looking to start building a rake of 12 O&K wagons before the 59s arrive?
  18. Hi.. A colleague at work likes to model 1930s-1940s Army scenes/dioramas, painting the figures etc etc. He wants to to do a diorama of the above era and include a train, he was quite specific that he wants a small engine, not a big express engine or anything like that, so im thinking a small 0-4-0 or similar. He doesn't want to pay a fortune for a working model (as I might have suggested Hornbys little 48DS shunter) as it will only be for display and wont be used. Im aware Dapol do plastic kits and do an 0-6-0 Drewery shunter and an 0-4-0 Pug steam shunter, my question quite simply is, did the Army ever use any of these types of locos, and if not, what else is out there that might suit his needs? Regards.
  19. Ref 50050/D400, in addition to the missing handrails already mentioned on the nose..... It was also missing the handrails under the headcode box at No1 end only, this was following a collision with (if memory serves me correctly) a collision with 50017.
  20. Carefull doing 50018..... its numbers and 'Network Southeast' branding was higher up the bodyside than all the others, you would have to remove Heljans NSE wording and reapply it higher up. And if you fancy a challenge, quite a few photos show 50018 running around with twisted jumper cables.
  21. Surprised Heljan ain't air freighted a few finished examples over for the reviewers/magazines to cast an eye over to tempt people to buy them when they do land en-mass in the containers.
  22. Oh dear…… I like 50s..... and was very tempted..... then I seen the class 33s..... hmmmmm. lol
  23. All quiet on the O gauge class 50 front, would anyone know how things are progressing and what if anything we might see on display at Warley?
  24. Im curious to see if there will be any finished examples on display at Warley MRE, if its just the lighting issues to sort then it shouldn't be to hard for Dapol to display a finished/non working example to display liveries etc. Same goes for the Hattons 66.
