  11. All filmed in London. To me it looks like a fitters breakdown truck , orange beacons not much use on railway did BR maintain their own vehicles at this time ?
  12. BR S111 Land Rover in white with extra beacon lights (and 70s cars ,where did all the mk1 Astras go ) , anyone know what this was used for ? http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle.php?id=35953
  13. Yes heres a link to the whole page- http://www.railbrit.co.uk/location.php?loc=Elgin%20East a most interesting little freight depot and still handling containers with lorry in same place from the look of google streetview !
  14. The photo has 1968 in the caption but there is a rear view on the same thread which shows the trailer having LONG VEHICLE plates which came in in the early 70's ( anyone know exactly when ?) but it has BR markings , it also looks like a tri axle trailer, as you say another mystery like the Malton Atkinson. Actually reading caption it says 1977 on rear view so answered my own question! and it also says Elgin major freight terminal for whisky, oil and containers so maybe it is some kind of contract work. This is the kind of small container depot I've seen modelled and thought looked very unrealistic as its so small ! Rear view Seddon 1977 at Elgin East http://www.railbrit.org.uk/images/26000/26832.jpg

  20. Now you say that I've noticed other vehicles in that book with silver/grey grills , another point for detailing models.
  21. The little Commer bonneted van is a new one to me as well, in any ownership. The Morris LC4 van in Bill Aldridges BR Vehicles book also has a white/grey painted grill surround. New part in primer possibly ?

  23. Yes agree, but I was thinking of the 'full size' artic tractors as opposed to mechanical horses (and the 4 wheel replacements) where Austins seem to predominate in net pics. Just being looking at the Frank Waller / RTI website ,some very good cabs hardly worth chopping anything.
  24. Merf Sorry to take you back to vehicle numbering again but did you mean that the four regions / former companies kept their same numbering system under BR untill 1966 ? Good info on trailers and Loadstars , might have a go at chopping a Matchbox Austin K9 into a tractor unit, problem is its 1.87 , A Dublo Dinky would be ideal but they seem to command good prices.
  25. Good point , well made Never seen a preserved 1to1 scale Austin Loadstar, WE, WF artic tractor in any livery.
