  1. Hi Chaps, The Spur Petroleum tank is indeed a fictitious livery. Spur Petroleum is a heating oil and lubricant supplier located on the Walmersley Road in Bury, the telephone number on the tank is indeed their business number. Gibbo.
  2. Hi Oz, I had the misfortune to live in Bury for 18 years and pronunciation veered towards your number 2 guess of "Burry". Gibbo.
  3. Hi Clive, Why not wrap up one of your scratch built jobs and then video yourself describing all of the features that were not made in a Chinese factory as you take it out of an old shoe box, unwrapping it from yesterdays news. You could even pretend that you are in the back bedroom of your mothers house !!! Gibbo.
  4. Hi Clive, Isn't DCC for those types that do "Un-boxing Videos" ? Gibbo.
  5. Hi Folks, I haven't done much with my Cartic-4 project recently for I have been busy with various other things not all model railway oriented. However my trusty 3d printing assistant has modified the bogies with an adjustable adaptor arm that has an NEM pocket. The plan is that there will also be a sprue of five with two arms for the Cartic-4 kit and also either a sprue with two or four bogies and arms as spares or scratch building aid. I yet need to find someone that is able to draw up some CAD files from my pencil drawings for the Etched brass components so these components may be produced. Gibbo.
  6. My dear Mr Shovel, How correct you indeed are, may I add both more information and the original comment for your perusal and juxtaposition of ones own machine gun myth. In reading my original comment you will note that I make mention of rough track. the reason is quite simple for when traversing rough track one may be put off balance and it is then that one may have to reposition ones feet to prevent falling to the cab floor. Should this occur when ones heal is upon the treadle and the shovel is inside the fire hole then it may become trapped as the doors clap shut. I do find that the greater part of the myths surrounding the Bulleid Pacifics to be mostly apocryphal nonsense. Gibbo.
  7. Hi Rodent, I don't quite know how such an action would be possible for when being correctly operated the treadle is under the right heal of the fireman and is situated at floor level. Gibbo.
  8. Hi Kevan, I was gutted when Pooles' shut, lunchtime when visiting Wigan was just not ever the same again. Gibbo.
  9. Hi Chaps, What do you do with 365 used condoms ? Recycle them into a Tyre and call it a Good-Year. Gibbo.
  10. Hi Rodent, They are nothing special, only a 3/8" copper pipe with a series of holes drilled into it that squirts hot water onto the window glass. The fire hole doors are great and when set up properly and should you use your heal to operate the treadle they are quite fun to use. If you pass over rough track it can put you off your rhythm and get the shovel trapped. Gibbo.
  11. Hi Rodent, I made and fitted the ones on Tangemere, they only work when the feed is on. Gibbo.
  12. Hi Chard, Belief is a form of ignorance, you may either know or not know, a duality in and of itself. I would also suggest that the negation of the laws of nature is a ridiculous fantasy, which should you do so proves that you are already along the path of self denial. To align ones self with the current fad that is political correctness, which has sadly affected so many virtue signalling fools, is to self censor, therefore allowing for the immediate curtailment of all forms of discussion upon all sorts of interesting and important topics. Do please mention away while all the time being human about it. Me Too !!!! Gibbo.
  13. Hi Mr Goldfish, I have modelled these early Freightliner wagons but there was only a prototype set of four wagons. Here are two links to the N Gauge Society: http://newweb.ngaugesociety.com/?page_id=1646 http://newweb.ngaugesociety.com/wp-content/uploads/Tartan_Arrow_20ft_30ft_Containers.pdf The plot thickens, Gibbo.
  14. Hi FC, I've just had another look at the photo and the obvious thing is that the the wagon in the background has one twenty foot and one thirty foot container and must there fore be approximately 52-ish foot long over head stocks. Well spotted ! Gibbo.
  15. Hi Clive, Here are some Tartan Arrow containers that appear to be on FFA / FGA typ wagons; Gibbo.
  16. Hi pH My guess is, "Warning bad spelling !" Gibbo.
  17. Hi John, At risk of forum drift and the undoubted barrage of criticisms that may follow, they way I see things are as follow: Men and women are of quite different types of energy, should they be of combined energies we would be androgyne as species. Because of the different forms of energies involved in the make up of the genders that form a duality within the universal experience, the way the genders both experience and display materially any interests that define their specific energies will be different. In short trains are boys toys. To further complicate matters despite that the male and female genders form a duality the recreation of the universal experience is actually made up from a triplicity of experience. With boys toys, as above mentioned, the male energy, part one, creates a system that represents part two, that system, part two, is then controlled by the male energy. It is this element of control that forms the third part of that triplicity which is the recreation part of the universal experience. In general most women do not seek to control the material realm to anything like the extent that most men do, they do however have greater interest and power over the etheric realm, (girls toys). Autism is far more prevalent in men than in women, how many autistic or those with autistic traits, myself included, are involved in a hobby that requires such order and control over a system ? To assist in understanding what I have written what I have written, here are the seven Hermetic Principals: Sorry, but you did ask !!! Gibbo.
  18. My dear fellow, I would appreciate and respectfully request that you read what I wrote correctly and comment appropriately instead of putting words into my mouth. I have been made to feel very unhappy in my life and I wrote about my experience and not of any specific generality. I wrote: "I've just stumbled across this thread and my experience of women is that rather unfortunately they come in three main basic types with an extremely elusive fourth category that I have yet to encounter: Plain not interested. Certifiably neurotic. Morbidly miserable. Pleasant. Live in hope, die in despair !" For your information, I do actually live in the optimistic hope that I meet one of those women that are described as category four for I am more than well aware that they exist and indeed form greater part of the female part of the population. Should you read one of my replies to an above post you will note that my grandfathers, my father and brother have all met what may be termed category four women. Unfortunately for me I have not, what is more I have been twice financially ruined and suffered a lot rather unpleasant emotional upset due to the perniciously selfish behaviours of two of my ex partners. That was my unfortunate experience, and what is more, not of my causation and is not a general observation. May I add I am very sorry if you do not like my reply but it is both my unfortunate and unhappy truth. Gibbo.
  19. Hi jf2682, I would guess that at the age of 40 most folk finally begin to realise that most of what constrains ones behaviour is materialist-conformist nonsense. Things like the latest fashion, being seen with the right people (whoever they actually are?), washing the car on a Sunday, mortgages and creeping to the boss, non of which bring contentment in life. Tread your own path !!! Gibbo.
  20. Hi Leopard, That reminds me of this, its just as bad; Ceasar ad jam forte, Pomey ad arat. Ceasar sic in omnibus, Pompey sic in at. Gibbo.
  21. Hi Mr Shovel, You must have found one of those elusive fourth category types. Both my grandfathers, my father and brother seem to have managed the same feat as yourself, I have not yet been so lucky. Fair play to you, Gibbo.
  22. Hi Chaps, I've just stumbled across this thread and my experience of women is that rather unfortunately they come in three main basic types with an extremely elusive fourth category that I have yet to encounter: Plain not interested. Certifiably neurotic. Morbidly miserable. Pleasant. Live in hope, die in despair ! Gibbo.
  23. Hi Johnster, That's easy enough to sort out, if you know minimum curve and the axle centres you may then work out the versine of the chords at the double of axle centres marked from the centre of the fixed wheel base. Gibbo.
  24. Hi Corbs, I hate to tell you but 6202's boiler ended up on 6203, the smoke box had weld beads shewing where the double chimney of Turbomotive had been patched in for a single chimney. Thermic-syphons would cause hellish maintenance trouble unless a steel inner firebox is fitted. Why not use the frames from one Hughes' Dreadnought 4-6-0's modified with the fitting of a BR Std style trailing truck, with a P2 boiler altered to steel firebox but retaining all the feed water clutter, retaining the original cab. One of the Dreadnoughts was converted to compound expansion and with the Hughes connection you could have Lentz or Reidinger gear just like some of the Crabs were fitted with. You could get a bit of the Southern in on the act with a large Lord Nelson tender. Have fun, Gibbo.
