  1. Toolbox yes or no? The closest colour I’ve got is Halfrauds Brookland Green Wondered if weathering would help blend it in Placing it further towards the cab helps take the eye away from the different shade but ideally I wanted it as per the photo of the real thing
  2. Lets try again..... Fortunately the oversized handrails I attached came off quite easily As did the printed number plates surprisingly
  3. I considered a Bachmann Collet Goods after the hassle I had with the Oxford Rail Dean Goods
  4. I’ve definitely bitten off more than I can chew I seem to recall someone suggesting I should build model aircraft instead..... I’m beginning to think he was right
  5. I didn’t realise branchlines wouldn’t have a dedicated shunter but the drop off and pick up sounds like something I could work with quite easily There isn’t room for a turntable unfortunately, it’s one of the reasons none of my locos have tenders
  6. Hmmm I'm thinking I need to redo these I used what I'd had in my 'bits 'n' bobs' box and I'm thinking they look oversize What do you think?
  7. Thanks for that, it’s worth knowing I’ve replaced the handrails on mine but I’m hoping a bit weathering will tone them down a bit http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/135712-andrew-barclay-replacement-handrails/ Chris
  8. As ‘Fantastic’ and ‘Incredible’ have already be used I’ll go for Awesome!
  9. Superb first class layout! Great attention to detail without being cluttered as John has already pointed out
  10. I’ve just replaced the wibbly wobbly plastic handrails on the Barclay I’m quite pleased with the results
  11. Unfortunately, possibly a break down in communication on my part, my replacement plates have arrived today from Narrow Planet and they appear to be the ‘oversized’ plates that cover the original instead of 4mm scale plates ordered. I’m sure it’s my fault for not being specific about my intention of removing the original printed on number plates and replacing them with ‘to scale’ plates Oh well sometimes sh* t happens On a positive note the quality of their plates is fantastic Chris
  12. Couldn’t agree more, Id have been quite happy with my cheap and cheerful Hornby 14xx if it ran better than it did
  13. I hadn’t to be honest I’ve see courses advertised somewhere that looked good value for money but the travel and accommodation costs put me off
  14. And this is how I thought goods would be operated 1) Good train arrives with incoming wagons (in red) 2,3 & 4) Reverses goods into goods yard 5) Loco uncouples and travels forwards 6) Shunter moves out 7) Loco goes for a drink and a rest 8) Shunter collects outbound wagons (in blue) 9 & 10) Shunter positions itself 11) Loco all rested and thirst quenched reverses out 12) Loco couples up to outbound wagons 13 & 14) Loco head out with outbound wagons
  15. This is how I imagined passenger services would operate 1) Passenger train arrives at the station 2) Loco uncouples and travels forwards 3 & 4) Loco reverses along the loop 5) Loco couples to carriages and back out
  16. Apologies for being thick but may I ask the advantage of having the addition length of track and longer platform please Many thanks Chris
  17. Thanks for your input Its clear that a fold-up fiddle yard is old fashioned and regarded as a complete 'no no' so its back to the drawing board on that one My intentions were (and still are) to put all my stock back in the display cabinet when not in use to keep them out of harms way, so I could always remove the glass from the cabinet leaving it open allowing me to put full cassettes in it (although possibly wouldn't look very attractive) Could anyone point me in the direction of photos of a cassette type FY please Chris
  18. I had thought about a sliding door, however, I still wanted the clear opening to remain the same. I’ve had to make quite a few compromises
