  1. It is (well to me at least) I always thought CV was the abbreviation of Constant Velocity
  2. I've bought stuff that was supposed to be new arriving in tatty, worn, old boxes with the contents not being much better The last (and it is the last) time I spoke to them Mr Bishop tried to pressurize me into 'needing' stay-alive for a particular loco telling me it wouldn't work properly without it..........so I bought said loco from elsewhere and fitted it with a cheap non-stayalive decoder and it worked perfectly even over setrack points I'm not a fan of Olivia's Trains or Mr Bishop for these reasons and will never buy from them again
  3. Not a strange question at all Yeah I had tried that and the results were same, I also tried a different controller and also a 9v battery. I applied a little more lubricant and left her running on the rolling road for a further half an hour forwards and she seems a lot better now I have a dedicated programming and testing unit I've built and always 'run-in' on the rolling road and test slow speed running on the track, given myself the flexibility to be able to test/run-in in either DC or DCC Many thanks to those who have replied
  4. Click on the 'Browse...' button Select the image you want to attach Then click on 'Attach This File'
  5. "The Oxford Rail Dean Goods" Don't talk to me about the Oxford Rail Dean Goods I'm still having counseling following that particular episode in my life
  6. I'm pleased with both the look and performance of mine.........and I'm quite fussy
  7. Looks fantastic! I wasn't going to have any of my loco's weathered but after seeing this I've ordered 4mm scale numberplates from Narrow Planet and once they arrive mine will be going to TMC for weathering too Chris
  8. I do feel sorry for Hatton’s having to deal with a fussy customer such as myself
  9. Well I've thought long and hard about it and I've finally decided to send all twenty-three of my wagons to TMC to be weathered It would have been 24 but I had a go myself and it didn’t go too well so I'm going to let the experts loose on them Chris
  10. My Andrew Barclay runs beautifully However, I've noticed that in DC with the controller set to the same position the loco runs much faster in reverse than it does going forwards Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this and if it is normal Chris
  11. Third time lucky Awwww isn’t she teeny tiny
  12. Hi Ian I started 'on the board' too You can do either, there's no right or wrong way I'm a draughtsman and we draw everything 1:1 (full size) and scale up the drawing sheet, that way we can copy and paste components from other drawings knowing they are all the same scale (if we were say putting together an assembly drawing from individual components) We adjust the 'print scale' to print off at the desired size But I cant see a reason why you couldn't draw full size and then scale down the whole drawing to the desired scale before printing Hope that helps Chris
  13. Run it in for a little longer and although it was already acceptable It’s running is even better at even slower speeds now https://youtu.be/OId08Ib9wPU
  14. In that case my apologies to Captain for miss interpreting his question opps I only used DC to run my locos in a at medium speed before fitting the decoder I generally only revert back to test slow speed DC if locos are misbehaving in DCC just to check if it’s the loco or decoder at fault
  15. Thanks Ian, I have read notes, lubricated and ran it in forwards and backwards and she runs beautifully I’ve fitted the decoder and I’ve not had to make any adjustments to the CV’s other than it’s ID So I’m quite happy......for a change Chris
  16. Doesn’t seem to be too bad, decoder straight out of the box https://youtu.be/3qdgKL1mWJE
  17. Just running it in on DC on the rolling road at the moment and she’s running smoothly but I won’t be able to give a true answer until the decoder is fitted Slow speed control on this loco has been a concern judging by some stories/reviews I’ve read Fingers crossed Chris
  18. She’s arrived and isn’t she gorgeous. With coming back to the hobby late I missed out on one of these So for me it was a rare, lucky eBay find I’m as happy as a pig in poo
  19. Thank you, still along way to go yet but I’ll get there. The inspirational layouts on this site will keep me going Chris
  20. Looks a bit of a mess at the moment
  21. A very inspirational layout it’s certainly got me of my backside to make a start on my own
  22. Having been inspired by the layouts on here I’ve made a start on the base board for “Warren” this week, still lots to do though
