  1. Am I correct in thinking that you are using the tapped bush as a nut? How do you tighten it, with a pin vice?
  2. Currently out of stock, but they do provide a comprehensive downloadable instruction sheet, which is very useful.
  3. That you for that, it is a great help. I will get on to Roxey Moudlings.
  4. Thank you for the examples. I like the look of the Markits crankpins, how thick a coupling rod will they accommodate please
  5. Can anybody recommend an alternative the the Crank Pins supplied with Slaters 7mm Wheels please. The Slaters system seems a little under engineered. UI need them for an outside cylinder 0-4-0.
  6. It is the combination of a short wheelbase and the long overhang that the causes the problem, it is a pity Sam didn't show more of it through the points. It could easily be resolved by a change of couplings, but from the video it looks like Dapol have buried them again, so that might be difficult.
  7. Thank you for that. I most watch the whole video at some point. The problem occurred as the wagon transitioned from the curve to the straight, but managed the transition from the straight to the curve and the curve itself. It is unclear if that curve is setrack or a piece of flextrack, either way Sam,s track laying leaves something to be desired. I though I was bad but at least I have some sort of support under all my track. It is a pity he didn't show what happens when pushing the wagon trough the double curve in the points. If a short wheelbase wagon causes problems then the 4-wheel coaches must be must pose real difficulties on R2 curves.
  8. Has anybody had a chance to try this on small radius curves? The large overhang at the rear looks tailor made to create buffer lock.
  9. How about a NBR / LNER Y10 Wheatley 0-4-0 in O gauge. Unlikely I know, because there were only two in the class and only one survived into LNER ownership, but would be very useful for small scale layouts.
  10. An interesting choice, but I can only assume that the Bulleid pacific has some personal significance because I would suggest that there are plenty of much better candidates in your ELEGANCE ON RAILS pdf. Regards, Michael
  11. The cost of postage is more than this junk is worth. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/394320777345?
  12. Thank you for the clarification Fred. I was looking for images of a Leeds Director and came across yours. Actually the explanation is in your PDF, but I never thought to look there. Regards, Michael
  13. Very nice. Is that the same Director you described as being by Leeds back in March 2011? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyHisfe3caU Regards, Michael
  14. Excellent video as always Fred, but were wine trains ever really a thing? The companion video of the ASTER Gauge 1 SNCF 232 U1 is well worth seeking out. Regards, Michael
  15. Although usually shuttles do need isolating gaps, they do not necessarily need a separate a controller and a separate power supply for the module. There are many available that have integral Speed Controllers and just need a power supply. There are also some available that use infra-red detectors, so no need for isolating gaps. I have been using one from blocksignalling.co.uk for many years, but there are plenty more out there. Look for one with an acceleration feature, they are much kinder on mechanisms.
  16. May I suggest that the motors in the following listing bear a more than passing similarity with the motor fitted to the Spinner. A clue to the manufacturer perhaps. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175704907719? For further information about Read-Maxwell motors see https://www.milbromodelrailways.co.uk/vintagelocos.html#postwar
  17. Another image with the draw-bar mountings removed, and showing one of the pivoted plates that provide compensation and electrical connectivity .
  18. Dapol does in their Stroudley 4-wheel coaches, although they use 00/H0 ones rather than the 0 gauge ones.
  19. A quick view of the inner workings of the draw-bar mountings before I remove them.
  20. I agree that the number of lights is correct, but I believe that the placement is incorrect. According to D45 the lights in a Mainline Brake/3rd should be positioned above the seat backrests where the partition would be. Later oil lit thirds had partitions with holes cut in them for the lights. See Figure 6.12, page 163, LB&SCR Carriages, Volume 1, by White, Turner and Foulkes.
  21. An incredibly life like driver on this green/black vintage item. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/234931840111?
  22. A quick question for the experts if I may. On the Mainline brake/Third is the middle oil lamp misplaced? Should it be in line with the centre of the window frame?
  23. Just to be clear, as the image above shows, there is ample contact between the buffers on Mainline Coaches when running through Peco Setrack points and reverse curves so buffer lock should not be a problem between these coaches. However there may be a problem when they are coupled to a locomotive or other stock with long over-hangs. The simple solution is to permanently lock the buffers in a partially retracted position, they have a habit of doing this anyway. Dapol do supply an alternative draw-bar to permanently close couple these coaches which works at the transition between straights and Setrack curves but causes derailments on transition curves. There should be no problem at all with Peco Streamline points. The Suburban Coaches are permanently close couples with a draw-bar, but I have no idea how these perform on Peco Setrack.
  24. To illustrate my previous comments about buffer lock, Mainline coaches on a Lima 700mm reverse curve.
  25. Mainline coaches on Peco Setrack reverse curve.
