I have been looking at the SMS baseboards and am really impressed. However, I am concerned that they aren't very deep, and am wondering what kind of layouts people are managing to build using them. Please post some pics/ideas for inspiration using these or similarly sized base boards TIA

Thats great idea. Start with a plan that you like but modify it a bit to suit, means its not a straight copy.

Brilliant thankyou. I also have so many ideas or regularly save a picture of a layout to refer to later, but i never get any further than dreaming.

This is good to hear as i often really like someone elses layout or track plan but dont really want to copy.

I think this is similar to me. Always been a hobby builder and like things to work and look as they should, but not one for operating as much. I just struggle with ideas as I am new to this hobby

I regularly read through and follow builds on here that blow me away. They work so well, look realistic and obviously come from someones mind but is there a reference place you go for inspiration of the real world to come up with your layout plans?

This is absolutely fantastic, and very well done. Truly inspirational Can you confirm the actual finished size of the whole thing, not just the track area please?

These ScaleModelScenes boxes look great, my only question is the 250mm depth....is it enough? I would have thought 350-400mm wouldve been better?

Hi All I am considering having a go at a small Micro layout as I haven't got anywhere with my previous plans of larger first time builds. The track plan I have in mind is the PECO Plan 33, China clay Terminal based on Meeth in Devon. I like the plan but don't want to build as a clay terminal, so I am looking for suggestions of a different way to model it. I don't have to use set track as i have some streamline points and track. My railway knowledge is low at the moment so looking for some advice from more experienced railway modellers to set me away in right direction.

As usual I am totally late to the party but felt I should say hello and well done. I live local to this area (Stockton) and for years have worked in offices 5 mins away from Thornaby station and had no idea as to the amount of infrastructure I was missing each day. Am hoping to stat a small TMD (first ever build) in 2022 so this has been a great read!!!
