  1. I dunno about that... The first house my parents moved into before I was born back in the 90's had a row of prefab garages built between em, and that house was a new build. I get what you're saying about the low relief though. Could have the option of having some with the back wall of the garage flush with the house, maybe a path down the side for access to the garden. Or maybe some could even have a gravel or slab driveway leading down the garden with the back of the garage butting up to the railway boundary.
  2. Hey Richard, those gaps between the houses are crying out for some prefab style concrete garages. Would mean there's more of a block barrier between the sides of the houses and the backscene. Something like this maybe? Lots of varaiation as well, pitched roof, flat roof, some longer than others, some pebbledash render, exposed concrete... Worth a thought.
  3. Will do when I get home. Face has already fallen off though, was held in with plasticine
  4. If you want a closer look at the edward bash I may or may not have bought that lot of loco bodies
  5. I suppose the tanks could always extend below the running board of the brit or 9f so it'd need splashers... Coal capacity is another thing and I'm tempted to fuse a BR1F tender to the back of the cab, cut down of course. I'll just have to get myself a donor and start cutting, see what sticks, but I know I'm going to shorten the boiler and firebox
  6. Recent purchase of mine. Thinking of making some kind of fictional BR Super Tank loco... Any thoughts on the look? Likely to use a Britannia or 9F body with scratch built tanks, unsure if it'll have deflectors or not, with similar tank design to that of the Standard 4 but larger.
  7. It can certianly be expensive, especially if you decide you want to put ExtremeEtches on a lima deltic just because someone told you not to. Now I wonder who's doin that...
  8. Exactly, finding that balance is where real fun can be had. I have developed quite an enjoyment for bashing models since finding that sweet spot. Currently working on Ivor the Engine made using a Hornby Toy Story loco, A3 wheels with spokes cut off (maybe, haven't decided) and a few other odds and ends. Hopefully it'll work out but I'm never worried about it being perfect.
  9. I couldn't agree more. Once you stop caring about getting things 100% perfect you can start to have a lot more fun.
  10. Pretty much the same response that I got. Glad they're still managing to get orders looked at.
  11. Great now I want to build one. Time to keep an eye out for a cheap princess class I suppose
  12. If that's the case I'm gonna need to chase them. I requested some plates on the 4th of March and I'm yet to see any artwork or hear anything about them.
  13. Come across a slight snag. The Black 5 wheels arent much bigger than the ones already on it and they dont really give the comically large look I'm after. The question is though, do I make do with what I have or buy an A1 wheelset?
  14. An abomination No, I'm joking, I'm thinking of a freelance 0-4-0 shunter. Might be diesel, might be steam, haven't decided. The image I have in my head is kind of Ivor the Engine in appearance, largely scratch built plastic body but might steal that cab off a Dapol pug kit. It's all very theoretical right now. Certainly won't be the weirdest thing I've made.
  15. Yeah... They'll probably fit, maybe, kind of... Only one way to find out really and that's have a bash. Just have to wait for the test subject to arrive and who know's maybe I could fit even larger wheels
  16. So I just bought one of those toy story loco's off ebay... And I have a spare set of Black 5 wheels... I think you can see where I'm going with this
  17. As someone who has pestered enough about 7802 in preservation being done, I would also like to know
  18. I am really torn between pre-ordering one now or waiting/hoping for 7802 to be announced.
  19. Got an email to say mine should be with me now. Will have to see when I get home
  20. Yeah if I remember rightly they swapped the tender for Erlestokes when 7812 went in for overhaul. But I really like Brad with the larger tender though.
  21. Probably going to wait until I can get 7802 out of the box and not have to renumber another example. Plus the larger tender it ran within preservation would be nice but not a must
  22. I've also watched 00Bill... Cannot recommend enough, he does a nice little series on EBay non-runners which is a great source for cheap loco's
