  1. I bet I can get it goin again
  2. A quick google search has shown that quite a lot of barrier vehicles are MK1 full brakes with tge windows plated over, but I have seen other diagrams used. I reckon you could get away with almost any MK1 vehicle as long as you plate over the windows. An old Hornby/triang model would be a good starting point as they're dirt cheap.
  3. With class 50 cabs? Now there's something I like the look of... Did anyone else do a 50 besides Hornby? I'd hate to cut up something so expensive.
  4. Wow, you learn something new every day. At least now I know what a jinty with outside cylinders would look like. Wonder what an 08 would look like if you halved its length and whether there's a chassis I can use to make one... Wouldn't mind if it turns into an 0-4-0, it's just gotta be short.
  5. Like shrinking down a Jinty and plonking it on a Bachmann thomas/junior chassis. Now there's an idea...
  6. Might be worth using a Bachmann Lord Nelson, they're certainly cheap enough. Also you could probablty get away with only getting one kit and splicing in some plasticard. I feel like using the Bachmann tender chassis would help preserve some of the lord characteristics...
  7. Glad you like it. It's probably one of my favourite 'why the hell not' projects. Seeing as I had a spare 66 bogie that I bought to try n fix a Hornby deltic kicking around, it was just a case of mating the two together. Had to modify a spare set of wheels so that I could omit the traction tyres otherwise it just wasn't going to work.
  8. Are the proportions close enough that I could use that? I've never built one of those kits
  9. Were they taken during an earthquake?
  10. I like that, because if you use the prefix of great you could also have one named after an area served by the western region... Great Malvern! This could also open up the idea of naming them after places of note within the Western Region. Great Malvern Coventry Cathedral Gower Peninsula Cheddar Gorge There are a lot of options.
  11. See now that's just further justification for the twin mek (Although I think Mega-Mek sounds cool) Just imagine if a prototype had been made!
  12. I did also make this, using the leftover cabs after I had cut the bodies for the extended hymek. Due to be painted in Railfreight Red Stripe. Again apologies for the image quality.
  13. Just checked and there was. Might consider picking one up, there's plenty of them on Ebay
  14. Not sure. I kind of see mine as a one off prototype used on express passenger duties, hydraulic transmission n all that. Thinking it was preserved as a piece of engineering history like GT3 and the Fell, which will be joining my fleet of odd loco's soon
  15. Anyone got any experience with the Hornby Toy Story loco? Ever attempted to bash one of these?
  16. Not spotting anything that jumps out as bad. Unless you got any particular examples, things look good to me. Or are you referring to the coaches that are yet to be painted? Because I think we're all guilty of that. Still got an LNER coronation twin that I bashed together that's not even in primer yet, no underframes neither
  17. Apparently so... Although I'm aiming for 2 tone green once it's ready for paint.
  18. Now that'd take some doin to build. Maybe if I find a spare/repair west country and lord nelson I'd consider it. Cutting up models that are perfectly fine never sat well with me...
  19. Very true, it's just what I had at the time. Did Hornby ever release the 52 with anything other than a ringfield?
  20. End of Revenge of the Sith. But yes, also Luke in Empire Strikes Back
  21. Agreed. I think people would rather mothball their loco's that convert them to overhead or 3rd rail. I have another project on the go, an extended hymek on a Hornby deltic chassis. Question is though is what have a crack at after?
  22. Made some quick snaps of my project late last night. Apologies for the phot quality. Still very early on in the bashing phase, but should be ready for primer soon.
  23. Might have a crack at it myself when I get home. Depending on how tired I am... You thinking IC Swallow? Original HST? Who knows, might even play around with making a livery for mine
