Understood there are no external switches, but is there a DC-operated-only dip switch setting to permit illumination of the dashboard, cab lights, interior body lighting?
I believe these are all available to those operating DCC / digital locomotive running, so I'm assuming the circuitry / leds are present in the DCC-ready locomotive, as mine is?

Joking aside wrt the name, but that Loch Lomond I received can be moved slightly side-to-side, with perhaps an overall angle of 5' - this I presume is the movement to permit smooth articulation on slightly undulating track / free movement of the bogies on curves.
I've been able to leave LL a total of 3 hours on the tracks without any derailments - excellent performance.
(There were rest periods and power was less than half power.)

Now that 'the flood' has arrived home, it's gently circulating with 9 very free-rolling LMS coaches.
Those who have one, or more will understand, but it's like a ghost moving around, it's so silent.
It's like a mobile anechoic chamber!!

How about a maintenance truck - Hi-Lux or something else relevant - which can convert road to track, and be powered / used on the rails, yet also within seconds be rolled gently along the asphalt?

Where's @AY Mod with a breeze block or 7 when you need him, eh?
I'll find out soon enough I suppose ... it's confirmed to be 'at the local delivery depot ready for delivery' ....
I'll be good - very gentle break-in over a few days ... then, perhaps ... 🤔

Authentic South Manchester scene with a few EM1's and EM2's I reckon ... still think they're a good prospect.

Is that related to that bar Sam noticed was stopping the kinematic coupling from moving freely?

You will need more than a brolly then if come all in one go.........
Just had notification that Loch Lomond will be coming to Merseyside tomorrow - more rain, damn !!

I remember Thundersley at Bressingham in the 70's - quite an impressive locomotive ... unless 6233 DoS was fired up!

Has anyone done a loadtest video on these wee beasties?
Just curious.
Caught the part of Sam's Trains' video where he mentioned the weight of 680g and the tractive effort obtained - very impressive!

Loch Lomond should be speeding it's way to me very soon .... definitely looking forwards to it .... !!

Looks like you've got it the opposite way around - on is off, off is on.

There are plenty which haven't been done, but why weren't they done?
I've recently mentioned several already produced, as they'd probably be very popular.
The bottom line of a manufacturer is to produce something people want to purchase.

Again Heljan did them - some say they were flawed, but I've never had one to confirm ... but they were built in series and make excellent model railways project locomotives ....
EM1
EM2
How about it?

I know we're looking at series-run products, so a one-off 'special' is not not high on the agenda, but how about ....
Kestrel !!
The Heljan model looks pretty good, but the moulding's quite basic. The model has a good weight and does run very well when maintained I agree - had one a few years ago - but a newly tooled Kestrel could be really nice!

Another Gold Star for Rails.
They've got back to me, to confirm receipt, initial review, failure as I reported, and that they'll forward 'to the manufacturer' for repairs.

I liked the review.
Simple, clear observations, and personal subjective impressions of the product.
Agreed, the 'smokebox idea' is something I'm often doing to my proprietary 'other manufacturer' steamies.
Love the 'gimmick' water tank cover - why not?
Thanks for sharing.

Working sanders?
Next we'll all have little oil cans topping up the linkages each time a steamie stops in a station!!
Imagine the 'dirt' everywhere - superfine grit - from the sanders!!

I suppose the 'main 3' - through goods, stopping passenger, and express passenger - but as you say, some clever and robust electronics would be required - and a way of ensuring the lamps don't get lost!
Too true, the the firebox was probably the brightest thing on 'steamies'.

Here's a thing ...
A/Scale managed to introduce brake linkage chains to the proprietary market, could it be possible they also introduce a lighting system for steam locomotives ... with any additional new steam locomotives introduced?

Thanks.
I was obviously wondering how difficult for Bachmann to apply their updated tooled Patriot bodies to create a parallel boilered Royal Scot - answer being 'not suitable' is coming out - so a parallel boiler RS is a prime contender then!
I'd really like one of these.

This conversation had me open up my higher detail DoG again - lovely looking model let down in so many places ....
I still vote DoG and Jubilees (and parallel boilered Scots).
Question: Weights and power ratings were different, but dimensionally were the parallel boilered Scots any different to the Patriots? (Bachmann did update their Patriot, which is quite a reasonable model, but not their parallel Scot).

I understand the 'logic' of 'filling in the holes', but selecting a next marketable product doesn't normally fit that ethos.
Model popularity plays a big part in selection as well I can imagine.
I maintain DoG 71k and / or Jubilees ...
Add parallel boilered Scots.
