  8. good evening all it has been quite some time since i have updated on here and thought it was time for a progress report. I have sold my old layout (the circle line) and have made a start on a new layout with alot of help from my brother who loves doing word work and track laying so first of all many thanks go to him its much appreciated. The layout is fictional and will have overhead wires when i can get round to ordering the n brass gantrys that i need for spanning the three lines through the station. the plan is a double track mainline with a center line for freight etc. There is a bay platform off of the inner mainline and also a headshunt next to it which goes back into dmu storage roads. the track plan is simalar to something my brother has built before and has wanted to build it again so this being the perfect oppotunity. The board has been kept small for the reason that i dont have alot of space to play with and all though the curves look tight my stock handles it very well so im very pleased that it was right first time. enough of me talking iv uploaded a couple of pictures from when we started yesterday i think this is an easier way to show you the track plan i will upload new pictures when more is done. stuart
  9. i have been following coombe junction for quite some time now and what you have done is fantastic! is that easitrac in your pics? and can you use rtr stock on it? as i am looking into using it for my next n gauge project but dont realy want to rewheel all my stock? keep up the great work its realy looking great. stuart
  10. Hi all tonight i have managed to get a few pics of my 4ft shunting plank and photo board which has taken me months to get to this stage. Now the dark and cold nights are setting in time for some modelling now. Iv taken a few pics of the board and a couple of some of my locos first engine is my sound chipped 57xx and the other one of my black 5s hope you like. stuart
  11. well its been along time since my last update and things are changing. I have been given a space in the garden for a shed so new plans for an n gauge main line are being drawn up at the moment i still havent decided on the idea of modeling a real place or somewhere made up yet. any ideas and thoughts are very welcome it will be modern image 2000-2010. today i have started ballasting my 4ft shelf layout but progress is slow. the main thing i guess is that it looks right and im happy with it problem is i keep getting side tracked with my sound chipped pannier i will try and upload some pictures when i can get my camara working. stuart
  12. just spent the last 2 hours ballasting and have hardly done anything :( the board is only 4 ft long haha

  15. today my brother has made up the board for my dcc sound board being a master chippy he has done a top job thank you graham. tomorrow we should have the track and in the evening should also have it layed hopefully i will be able to get some pictures and will post on here if ido. aswell as getting the track down im hopeing to have order a Bachmann dynamis controller and a sound chipped 57xx hopefully i shouldnt have to wait to long before i can start shunting with the sound of a pannier. I will try and get some pictures of progrees tomorrow . stuart
  16. evening all. I have a very large amount of oo stock steam and diesel and i love shunting. Seeing as this is abit hard in n gauge my brother and i have come up with a small plan for me to play about with not having alot of space the board will be 4ft long and 8inch wide witch means it can sit on a shelf in my room the track will be peco code 75 finescale i will try and upload a plan as soon as i can. I am also considdering dcc sound and would love to chip my Bachmann br pannier but i need to email Bachmann about my controller as it doesnt work anymore but the sound of a pannier chuffing up and down is very tempting so i will look into it I will try and have some pictures up next week when things take shape. stuart
  17. looking good there graham. Have you had any luck trying to get hold of the office blocks you are after ? stuart
  18. Hi beast 66606 sorry it is n gauge its the latest graham farish one. I also pickicked up the gf 47474 on saturday which is fantastic iv had major problems with Dapol engines! so im sticking to gf at the moment. Im trying to build my stock up at the moment for when i build my proper n gauge layout. the circle line is just a test realy . stuart
  19. This afternoon the dhl man came and deliverd my hattons package and inside was my lastest loco ews 66098. I ran it for 10mins to make sure it was ok no problems to report it is fantastic! Now work begins im not a fan of locos straight from the box i like weatherd engines and trying to fit all the tiny name plates and pipe work! so the front coupling was taken off and all the tiny pipe work laid out in front of me 10mins later it was done and to me it has made abig improvement others might not agree but thats my view. I have taken 3 pics before, mid, and after hope you like. stuart.
  20. that looks great missy keep up the good work .
  21. Hi all its been awhile since my last post so thought it would be agood idea for a quick update. My progress has been very slow to busy running stock witch brings me to my xmas pressies. My nan very kindly bought me 57003 witch i have detailed still got to paint the tips of the pipe work. my mum and dad got me the central trains 150 my brother started off my next rake of wagons with these 3 tta`s with the bad weather we have had lately i managed to get a fair bit of overtime in so thought i would treat myself to some goodies so on to the hattons website and orderd myself 66098 in ews and 4 vga`s still havent arrived yet tho. So saturday i went off to my local model shop (the signal box) just to get a few scenic bits (he say`s with a grin on his face) i got the few bits i wanted plus more hahaha i cant resist a 47 so i came home with this plus a few mails vans now to explain whats going on with the layout on the right hand side of the board there will be part of a station the footbridge will be the scenic break on this part i have made the ratio footbridge already. The gap inbetween will just be countryside and will go into a tunnel the otherside. this is just a test board as explained in earlyer post`s to test my skills in n gauge and i have had alot of help from my brother (shanks522) with this project thank you graham ! any comments advice or criticism greatfully welcome sorry for the poor pics. stuart
  22. looking good there graham as we both know the 60 was buy far the best loco of them all last night. power wise! have you had any luck with the weights in the jga`s yet ? stuart
  23. Looking good there graham keep up the great work mate. Stuart.
  24. thanks rovex just trying my skills out in nguage at the moment and im quite pleased with how it is coming out so far. It is indeed very very round but space was a problem and i wanted to be able to watch the trains go bye and iv ended up with this. It might not be every ones cup of tea but im happy with it and its agood learning curve before i start my main layout. I will post pictures as progress happens stuart.
