  1. Was just trying to think how close the Blackpool south line runs to Blackpool airfield, I think it skirts one of the perimeters although there could be a bit of a golf course/ nature reserve between them. Now not much more than a branch line it was a double track mainline running into Blackpool central.

From the airport now not much more than pleasure flights and a helicopter terminal for the rigs in the Irish Sea but did have some commercial flights in the 90/ 2000's and is used when there are local air shows so I have seen the Lancaster bomber there!

Is anyone else having problems with the lifeguards catching on points/ballast causing derailing all the time? (Using code-75 track)

Edit: Had another looked, It appears quite a few wheels had come dislodged. Is now running like a dream!!

Yes found on mine that the none powered wheels had come out of the axle boxes easily fixed and mine also runs lovely.

  3. Got my regional 158 and love it will be holding the older version alongside to compare the only minus is the amount of underframe detail I pulled off to try and find the decoder socket!

Wish I had got the sound version now.

With 40 working layouts in the hall I would have thought it possible to find one that would have let the GT3 be demonstrated.

True but if they haven't been able to test it properly themselves they may not want to try it on a layout and risk a potential failure with witnesses. I am not saying there is anything wrong with it just a possible scenario.

  5. Went to the KR models stand today to congratulate them on having a model there and admitted they have proved me wrong. They admitted that the Dave Jones saga had helped cast a cloud over their business model but they have struggled through the issues to where we are today and I was happy to shake michaels hand and congratulate them on a good looking model. They also recognised where I came from in that although the model is not for me a proven track record will encourage me to order from them in the future.

They did state the models do run but Warley had not provided power for their stand so they could not have a rolling road.

I will watch this model and future models with interest.

  6. Went to the show at 11.am had a look at the 90 didn't like it so walked away.

By 1pm had rejoined the club and had the sound version in my bag. Had a quick play this evening and impressed no signs of the bogie issues which plagued my other class 90's and a nice touch is that if you lower the pantograph the sound stops -small things eh?

You seem extremely confident about them...have you done all the research and found out that you can sell 1000+ of each type?

You're so confident that you've told Hornby to put their money where their mouths are.

Sorry feel you are being a bit harsh there have seen a lot more outlandish wish lists than that suggested and even more left of field models being produced! Personally I reckon it's going to be the fell (whatever that is)!!

  9. Just opened my class 24- what an experience quality packaging/ instructions printed on quality paper then a quality model at the bottom of it all. Love the man tin handy for spare bits unless you use it for storing the loco.

Didn't move at first until I depressed f2 to release the brake- clever stuff.

Lastly though what have you guys done re the couplings have you removed or just trimmed the brake pipes etc? Did they come out easily?

Have pre ordered a second model on the basis of this one.

We are still when time permits looking at there wheels but as everyone mentions traction is really lacking when the tyres are not there. Thanks Peter

    Hi Peter

is it worth keeping the traction tyres while not ideal the improved wheel profile should be worth buying the sets for my DCC fitted Lima models seem to short on the point frogs hopefully an improved profile would stop this.

  11. I seem to have a memory of a dmu hauling a van (4 wheeled like a vea I think) into Warrington central. Now my issue is I don't know if I dreamed it or not the dmu was all over blue I think?

So is this a likely occurrence or is my memory playing tricks would probably be 1970's.
