  1. Thanks for your help of helping me decide on a name. After a lot of thought, I've chosen the name Draxton. As there is a power station on the back-scene of the layout which looks like Drax And I didn't want a long name.
  2. Wetwang was served by rail. The Malton dodger train went through there via Fimber. But the line was closed in the 60s due to Beeching, But, Wetwang is going to be connected by rail again but part of a preserved railway. The Yorkshire Wolds Railway runs a diesel shunter called Sir Tatton Sykes on a length of track giving cab rides. There is also a Mk1 coach that contains a museum, there's free parking on the site and a cafe.
  3. I was wondering if my fellow modellers could help me. I have an n gauge model railway layout which i'm trying to think of a name for (see above). I am stuck with trying to think of one so I was hoping you could help me. here is a bit of background info about the layout. The layout is located somewhere in modern day Yorkshire depicts a freight yard that is owned by Network Rail. The shed takes deliveries and is also where locomotives owned by Network rail are maintenanced. The yard also serves the nearby power station (as seen on backscene) and coal trains visit frequently. Network rail base some of their Locomotives and rolling stock here so it isn't unusual to see a ISP in the middle of June! Steam locomotives also occasionally visit the yard with their support coach (a MK1 Full brake) and can be seen in the yard for a short while before leaving. I hope this this helps you think of a name. Many thanks James
  4. Bit of an update. The gaps have been filled and now I'm going to concentrate on a new trackplan as I'm not happy with what I have done.
  5. Having measured out the size of the gap and marked the measurement on the ruler, I can now measure the amount of card I need in order to fill the gap.
  6. I've decided to use the back of the box as the picture on the front just looks too good to cut up!
  7. Having cut it open, I shall now proceed to cut off the amount needed to fill the gaps. I am then going to tape on the pieces of card to the holes.
  8. I have found a way to solve the gaps in the sides of the shoebox. This box for a Revell kit should do the trick. I'll cut it up and stick the amount needed so I can fill the gaps.
  9. Can't wait to see the finished product. I'll keep an eye out for it james
  10. I'm thinking of using a different track plan for this instead of the embankment idea and the sidings below.
  11. Looking good so far. Can't wait to see the tarp covered wagon. Are you going to weather the wagon and tarp?
  12. Glad to see that the locomotive and the coaches/wagons are coming together nicely
  13. The plank of wood isn't that big. And it won't fill up the space what I was going to use. But I'll see what I can do.
  14. This block of wood used to be a station platform on the OO gauge layout I mentioned earlier. I have stripped the platform surface off it (it was card so it was easy to get off) and I'll either use it as a embankment with a railway line on it so I have trains running on two levels. Or I could just use it as a abandoned railway line with rusty wagons or a locomotive on it. Either way, it'll give some height to the layout and it won't have that flat look which most layouts do.
  15. Thanks for the advice. I'll see what I can do. I've been busy sorting out the shoebox so track can go in.
  16. I've sorted out the problem of not enough space for the track. What I've done is I've cut the handle on the side of the shoebox so it isn't a wall anymore. I'm then going to bend the handle at 90 degrees and glue on card to support it. I'll also do this to fill the gap up (probably)
  17. Looking good so far. I'd love to see more pictures of your progress on the layout
  18. Hi Keith, The test track is looking fantastic. It looks less boring than a block of wood with track nailed in (that's all a test track is). I would love to see more progress on this cheers James
  19. I've been watching your progress on the Boxfile layout and it is looking fantastic. The hopper will give you more ways of running trains.
  20. Good news! I have just found another piece of short track (R800) which had been hiding in a box for a while. So now I have 2 R800s to use on my project.
  21. I've just encountered a problem. The shoebox is not as long as I thought it was. The only solution for me is to flatten out the side of the shoebox so I can put the short length of track in.
  22. Thanks Ivor. I appreciate your comment. I have a track plan sorted out for the layout
  23. Looking good so far. I'll keep an eye out for updates.
  24. I haven't got much track so my options are limited as most of it has been used on another larger OO gauge layout. Here's what I've got.
