  1. DCC sound is brilliant. it just sounds so realistic and the amount of sounds you can get on just one loco is amazing. My first encounter with DCC sound was my Granddad's Class 101 DMU he's got. Since then, the DCC sound collection increased to a BR Blue Class 40 40159 and GWR Castle 4-6-0 5029 Nunney Castle.
  2. I've been watching your progress on the layout and so far, it looks really good. I like what you've done for the backscene. (York is a brilliant place to go. especially for train related stuff.)
  3. Sorry I haven't updated my progress in a while. I've been very busy with other stuff happening so I probably won't get back to this for a while...
  4. This is looking brilliant! I bet the person you made it for will be thankful!

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway is hosting a behind the scenes gala on the 4th, 5th and 6th of May. you will be shown behind the scenes of the NYMR how it operates locomotives, how it runs services, maintenance it's rolling stock etc.
  6. At least we know what the problem was that's why I use Sundeala board and wood for my layouts. Here's a thought: If you redo the layout but this time do it on on sundeala board and wood, you won't have that problem again and it'll be more sturdy.
  7. Croppers is the only model shop in Bridlington and if it closed I would be distraught as it is a really good shop.
  8. It looked really good. Shame it's going to be scrapped. Do you think it could be salvageable?
  9. I've been looking at boxfile layouts and some of them are good. I think I will change the trackplan a bit on the shoebox layout in working on.
  10. Yes I know it is. I've just realised my mistake I've put 4984 instead of 4983. Thanks for reminding me! Cheers, James.
  11. Ok thanks luke. I might have a look at it sometime this week. Cheers, James
  12. With the trackplan sorted, it's time to get down to business. Firstly, I need to decide on a era, and what the layout is going to look like.
  13. I've got some work to do on it. I've been trying to find a B12 Smokebox door when I went to the York show on the 21st April and I couldn't find any.
  14. Last year I brought two locomotive body shells. This inspired me to build two new locomotives from scratch. I'd buy the parts needed for them and then run them once they are complete. The loco shells are: GWR Hall 4-6-0 4984 Albert Hall LNER B12 4-6-0 When I got them both, they just looked awful so when I got home I got out the black paint and repainted them both. After they had dried, I assessed the situation and made a list of what they needed. Hall New cab Buffers Nameplates Numberplates Chassis Tender Driver and fireman Lamps Lamp irons Headboard? a repaint B12 Smokebox door Waterslide transfers chassis tender Driver and Fireman lamps lamp irons
  15. I'd love to see this layout come together! Will it be 100% accurate to the real Darlington?
  16. The NYMR has had lots of visitors to the line. Steam and diesel: Flying Scotsman City of Wells Tornado (more than once!) Royal Scot 45212 1501 Ballymoss (Royal Scots Grey) 7714 GWR 2800 2-8-0 92 Squadron Charybdis
  17. I've been multitasking while working on my OO gauge shoebox layout. I've given it a thought and wondered if I should have visiting locos on the layout as well.
  18. I'm not quite sure about the colour. Doesn't look right...
  19. I managed to cut some out (with difficulty), but the results are good. You may have noticed there aren't as many. Some ripped when I was transferring them to the other side.
  20. Had a bit of difficulty. They kept coming of the card (the shiny side) so I've stuck them onto the other side and hopefully they won't come off.
