  1. The show on the 25th May went really well. I think Draxbridge did really well. Although one of Class 31s 31135, wasn't up to the job: it failed when there was a crowd around the layout! Luckily, I had 48773 (an 8F!) on hand to pull what was supposed to be 31135's train: HEA hopper wagons. 31602 and 08585 did a great job and performed faultless!y. The results of the show are: 1st place: Garside 2nd place: Sutherland Street 3rd place: Hilldale Best in Show: Draxbridge (I'm not joking by the way!)
  2. I've managed to obtain a tender shell for Albert Hall. It's in BR green has the early crest. The tender has been detailed with real coal, a tail lamp and tools from the Hornby loco detailing pack.
  3. I've had a bit of a problem. After strengthening the layout by gluing corrugated cardboard to the underside of the box I left it overnight and it soaked through. The box was sagging lot and unfortunately, I had to throw it away after my attempts to salvage it. But luckily, I can have a 'proper' layout as I managed to ring some Sundeala board in the garage! It's only a small piece but it won't limit my creativity.
  4. I never knew that Evening Star visited the line! She is special as she was the last 9F to be built also the last steam locomotive to be built by BR.

  7. Of course I'll need minitures of the NYMR's home-fleet of steam and diesel locomotives.
  8. I have sketched out the trackplan for the engine sheds. It's not finished yet because I'll have to add the trees and I'll probably colour it in as well.
  9. Thanks for some more locomotives that have visited
  10. Thanks David. I've sent you a list of what I'm going to need.
  11. Thanks for your information. I think reinforcing the shoeboxes will help and act as a barrier to stop the watery glue from disfiguring the shoebox. I might use plywood or MDF if I can get my hands on some.
  12. Sounds good OOman. I will be watching your progress with great interest.
  13. I have managed to get an extension for the layout. This was a box for my shaver I got at Christmas last year and can also separate into a smaller layout if I wanted to.
  14. I'm going to try and get that other controller sorted out. I'm going to have to solder the wires to either side of the track sometime. Or I could temporarily use masking tape so I get an idea where I'm going to solder them.
  15. Thanks for your compliment. Although most of my collection is from the Big four, I do have some BR stock from both steam and BR blue eras. I also have vehicles to suit the correct period.
  16. I agree. It is a very nice diorama you've done with the DVT.
  17. If find another shoebox lying around somewhere, I might use it to extend the layout so I will have more room.
  18. After a short break, I'm back onto working on the shoebox layout. The era is going to be British Railways during the 1960s just before steam was to be banned and many were to be scrapped. I currently don't have any BR green diesels (sadly) but I do have BR steam locomotives and suitable rolling stock. So I'll be using them until I get some Diesels.
  19. Over the past years, I've helped out at loads of model railway exhibitions including previous Bridlington model railway shows and others including the recent York show and one at Wetwang (or was it Fimber?) village hall a couple of years ago. I enjoy helping out at model railway shows but it can be tiring as I have found out. I'm going to be exhibiting Draxbridge (my n gauge layout) at the BARMATES show on 25th May. It's going to be my layout's very first exhibition and, hopefully, it will go well. i just hope that the two Class 31s are up to the job of running all day...
  20. I like where this is going. Can't wait to see more pictures.
  21. Looking good! Can't wait for more pics of the A4 style streamlined W1
  22. Looking good so far. I like the idea of a heritage railway. Perhaps you should put part of the heritage railway on the layout...
  23. The layout is looking fantastic. Can't wait to see some locos on it. will the layout be going to exhibitions?
