  1. Thanks for the idea Ivor. I'll have a think about it. Maybe I will put a bridge across to hide the gap...
  2. There is also a rather large gap where I've cut down the corners. I'm going to have to sort that out!
  3. I've cut the back of the shoebox and flattened it out. The layout is now starting to take shape. I'll have to sort out a track plan before I can do anything else.
  4. Being a GWR fan (as my username suggests), I look forward to seeing this layout come together. What is the era of the layout? Is it during the 'big four', BR or BR blue?
  5. It's going to be in OO gauge and I'm thinking of either doing the layout in the 'Big four' era, the BR era or BR blue era. As I have locomotives with liveries in these eras. I also have rolling stock which is suitable for each period.
  6. I have been thinking about doing a N gauge version of a real location for months. And it wasn't until a visit to the NYMR last year that I decided to base the layout on a location on the NYMR. I thought to myself, should I base the new layout in the hills of the heather covers North York Moors or do a station? It wasn't until I went to Grosmont sheds that I decided on the idea that I should base the layout on Grosmont sheds. The new layout is going to be a 100% accurate model railway layout of the sheds with the NYMR's home fleet of Steam and Diesel locomotives represented in miniature. I've recently been on google and getting images of the sheds and copying and pasting them onto a Word document and have been on Google Earth and sketched out the track plan for the sheds. I'll let you know on updates of my work.
  7. The layout is looking brilliant! Good idea with the mirrors. it really gives the impression that the railway line continues beyond the horizon!
  8. The layout is looking really good! I'm glad to hear that the show went well for you. Were you asked many questions?
  9. This is the shoebox I'll be using for the layout. I'm thinking to have the layout as either a end to end with a fiddle yard or have it without a fiddle yard so I can put more stuff on it such as a level crossing.
  10. I have a gauge-master analog controller which I use for my N gauge model railway layout. It is better than the Hornby one you get in the train sets now.
  11. I am thinking of doing a small OO gauge layout using a shoebox. The shoebox is one of those Dunlop ones which open out to the side. I haven't decided on the track plan yet but i am working out what would be suitable for it. I will let you know on updates of the layout.
