Head and Tail Lights on Older Bachmann Multiple Units
RHF9019 replied to Gray69's topic in DCC Help & Questions
Taking this a step further, if you were to put a diode on the red wire and a diode on the black wire, effectively half a bridge rectifier, and connect the blue to the output, would this give full wave power? This can then connect to the positive side of the led. Then is it possible to use the white and yellow on the negative side of the led to control them via the decoder? -
There should be two wires attached to the 'female' part. Have both come away and you have only noticed one? As a result the one you have reattached could be on the wrong bit of brass. This would cause a short when the tender gets attached.

D1015 is 98416. 98415 is 50015. Not all preserved diesels have 98xxx numbers, primes examples being 40013 and 40145.

Having bought an 8 pin TXS to try, I fitted it to a Hornby 37 yesterday using the supplied speaker. The app is extremely intuitive and takes you through each step. Firmware updates took a couple of minutes and sound download was about 15 minutes. Then it was time to test. No problems found. The sound, whilst not top notch, is acceptable. I expect a speaker upgrade will help but that is something for the future. Overall, I was impressed at the ease of the process and the results. As a result, I am now considering fitting another couple of locos. As feedback for those involved in testing, I am running the app on a Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G without any problems.

DCC Decoders for the DCC Ready Bachmann Jinty
RHF9019 replied to CallingAtGreatDestinations's topic in DCC Help & Questions
Had a similar problem with a Hornby J50. The Rails 8D was too big and ended up with a Dcc concepts 8 pin nano direct, DCD-ZN360.6. This is quite a bit smaller than the Rails one. -
Multiple unit main beam lights - directional wiring
RHF9019 replied to Weardale Wanderer's topic in DCC Help & Questions
I think it is CVs 49 to 54. Each one refers to an output. These are the same ones that DCC Concepts decoders use. Looking at the defaults, 0 = lights on in forward direction 16 = lights on in reverse direction 32 = lights on in both directions -
Try setting CV66 to 1.

Try changing CV66 to 1. That is for the coreless motor mapping. -

Nothing definite yet, TPE have stated they want to get rid of them at the December TT change. This has yet to be agreed by Rail North Partnership. -

In the light of yesterday's statement from TPE, is there any possibility of a second run of the TPE Mk5a sets? -
The next Accurascale steam loco in OO ???

For me a LNER J6. Fills a large gap in the rtr market and with careful design can be used for other GNR based 0-6-0 engines. -
Well that's the wife's Christmas present sorted. Since they first came out, she said she wanted it in blue. You can probably guess her name....

Accurascale Class 55 Deltic - 4mm scale
RHF9019 replied to Andy Y's topic in Accurascale / Irish Railway Models
Yes each end is slightly different, the difference is the exhauster outlet pipes. The pictures above, the one on the left is Number 2 end and the one on the right is Number 1 end. -
I think it is a coreless motor. Try changing CV66 to 1.

Having just looked at the function map for the Rails decoder, the fans should work off F3. To check the mapping is correct, CV39 should be 16 and CV41 should be 0.

Having painted many things Rail Blue over the years, from 4mm upto 12" to the foot, it is a colour that reacts to its surrounding colours. Prime example being yellow. If you look at Western Champion and Western Courier on the SVR, on their own Champion looks a totally different blue to Courier. Put them side by side and they look the same. The difference is the size of yellow panel, Champion has small panels whereas Courier has full yellow. Paint a coach all over blue and it looks a different blue to a blue/grey one. Adding a yellow first class stripe again alters the perception of the blue. I have lost count of the amount of times I have started painting with Rail Blue and have been convinced the blue is wrong.

Accurascale Class 55 Deltic - 4mm scale
RHF9019 replied to Andy Y's topic in Accurascale / Irish Railway Models
Just like to say a huge thanks to Simon at Accurascale Support. I had updated my loco to sound with a Accurathrash speaker and the Accurascale Loksound 5. There was a problem with the decoder not responding. Contacted Support and had prompt replies on steps to take. Unfortunately none of these solved the problem so the loco and decoder were sent away for investigation. It has now been returned fully working, address changed to the one I wanted and, very unexpectedly, all the chains and bits I had knocked off when removing the body to fit the speaker, had been reattached! Excellent service which went above and beyond what I expected. -

There is a difference between refurbs an non-refurbs. The refurbs have alternators and are fitted with starter motors where as the non-refurbs simply motor the engine over using the generator to start. The refurbs also have electronic traction control so load up slightly differently to the non-refurbs. The non-refurbs are more likely to suffer an overload if not handled correctly.
