  1. I know the buffers and 'colouring' have been heavily discussed but what about the ride height? See attached photos. In reality the 33 has bigger diameter wheels,3'7 vs the 3'4 of the 73 but should the locos be more or less 'level' with each other. The Heljan 33/1 is out of the box wheelswise The Class 33 is 12 ft 8 in tall (3.86 m) with wheels that are 3ft 7in (1.092 m) in diameter. The Class 73 is 12 ft 5 5/16 in tall (3.79m) with 3 ft 4 in (1,016 mm) wheels. So the 33 is 70cm/2ft 4in taller. Lets not take into account fuel loads/worn wheelsets/tired springs etc Have Dapol (and Heljan) got these 2 bang on?
  2. Dapol said they had some 'in the van' when we visited earlier on the way to Birmingham, find out at the weekend I guess....
  3. So - will be have boxed ones at Warley or just final pre-production samples?
  4. Any progress with the Eurostar project or is it one of many long termers.......
  5. 1st photo - http://www.kentrail.org.uk/class_373.htm
  6. Cheers, just after a price for a kit, will keep trying. Have already emailed and the phone rings out
  7. Has anyone ordered anything from them lately? Cant get in contact be phone or email
  8. Do you know what EPS decals your painter used? Had a good look online and can find any. Found these pics of the Eurostar being towed, alas the moneyshot is missing......https://railway-photography.smugmug.com/1/Channel-Tunnel-Main-Line-HS1/Ashford-ballast-and-Eurostar/i-BV5MLBQ
  9. Does not mean anything alas, wait until a sample has been shown
  10. Do the Lima/Hornby 73's have the roofs modelled 'correctly'. The cab roofs of real 73's are fibreglass and can sag over time...
  11. Yeah, cab roof looks a bit more 'creased' that it should. Will wait until I see one for myself but surprised that it looks to be wrong in whats basically a box shaped loco............
  12. A suggestion for the dummy Scarfenbergs - provided they can be got as spares - the dummy ones off a Bachmann 57/3...... Ive the Mk3 Genny van on the workbench atm for my 37/6 set
  13. OK next question - would mermaids and dogfish ever have run together?
  14. Personally Im a bit disappointed that Rapido are to step in to ensure it works. It harms all future crowdfunding projects in that it will dissuade people from pledging as 'sure the manufacturer will step in at the end so I dont need to pledge' As someone who is seriously looking into creating a project for a very niche market (Neither N scale or British outline) this is not good. Im aware that despite Rapidos enthusiasm for a lot of things, they did not take this step out of the goodness of their hearts either. Its a serious business decision at the end of the day
  15. Was a good and bad idea launching at Warley - good as its the ideal place to do it, bad as its close to Christmas... All a big gamble at the end of the day....
  16. Certain locos can now heat the train themselves so its not needed
  17. Any chance it might include HEP mode in the future along with the cooling fans? Also a automatic coupling noise, could just be a 'clunk'
  18. Wonder will the Bachmann MK2F's be released around the same time (whenever it is, will be worth it) so a decent Gatwick Express rake can be made up
  19. Update - they have no new stock and wont for the foreseeable future
  20. Not looking too promising judging by Nairnshires site, have emailed them
  21. Very handy thread this (again) can anyone provide other examples of formations? I take it spoil trains were loaded with a excavator, were they brought to the work site by road or rail? If by rail was it on a lowmac wagon? Just looking for ideas for short/more unusual variants on a ballast train
  22. Hence me using apostrophes - I was indicating its not a diesel engine. Your average person on the street only knows 2 types of fuel - petrol and diesel.
