  1. Dapol and colour matching, now that will be the day!!
  2. Was the 15ft long Eurostar just made from the 'inner' sets that Hornby made??
  3. A great show as ever and receiving an award from the judging panel was the icing on the cake. Not sure when we will return but it will be a pleasure as always Thanks to everyone at the AMRSS for making it a wonderful experience
  4. Wont be buying it anymore, just not as good as his predecessor. The 56 article in the current issue sealed it for me. A 2 part article(!!) to undertake a very simple project (upgrade/repaint of a Hornby 56) and he has not made or installed the covering plates for the lifting points, probably the simplest upgrade you can do to the Hornby 56. Odd given he installed the Shawplan/Extreme Etches fangrilles which is another easy and effective upgrade I knew once I saw him listed as the new editor it was going to become 'Kadees/Ballast Wagons/3rd rail slamdoor EMU's' monthly and sadly its already happened not even 6 months into his tenure. And Ill say nothing about his reviews either In a strange co-incidence BRM has suddenly got better. Wonder why
  5. Dont forget the real ones were all painted at different times, in different places and Im sure not with the same batch of paint.....not to mention sitting around in sidings for extended periods of time At least its a better shade of yellow from Dapol than the 'Lemon' they used on the Dutch 73
  6. X2 The bogies for starters are totally different. It is pure coincidence the IE CAF Mk4's are called Mk4's and have a reasonable resemblance to BR Metro-Cammell Mk4 stock. That is where it ends as the Irish stock is longer, taller and wider due to the more generous loading gauge. IRM have moved and re-designed the goal posts completely, not just raised the bar. Long may it continue.
  7. Such an antiquated term, the country has not been officially referred to as 'Eire' since the early 1950's.............
  8. Some of the RPSI ones are ex Gatwick but not all of them. They have yet to use any of the ex Gatwick stock and continue to use their Mk2A/B/D set. This set is a mixture of former BR, NIR and IE coaches IE have had ex BR Mk1/2A/3/3B Int stock in the past and NIR have had Mk2A/B/F stock IE disposed of the Mk3 fleet due to the leadership of their then CEO, a certain Richard Fearn formerly of BR, South Eastern Trains and Railtrack, who pushed for the 'Railcar Revolution' meaning that aside from Belfast and Cork expresses all long distance services are now in the hands of 22k railcar sets, which from a passenger point of view are excellent. I very much doubt the 4 remaining ex Gatwick MK2's NIR have will return, laid up to rot after an expensive refurb, including the Mk2 DBSO which after £400k spent, never turned a wheel in service was quietly donated to the Downpatrick preserved line. Also the generator Mk2 for that set is now with the RPSI. Given NIR have no other Mk2 stock left, these 4 will be disposed of soon, either to the RPSI or Downpatrick Its not the first time UK DMU sets have been rumoured to be exported to Ireland, there was talk over 10 years ago that surplus Class 222 sets would be used here but it never happened
  9. Nice one, and this model WILL happen, unlike another announced one

  11. Not long to go now, always a fantastic show
  12. The Model Railway Society of Ireland will be exhibiting with Ardmore, an O gauge Irish outline layout Not forgetting some of Argyle Streets finest drinking establishments in the evenings
  13. Can someone who has the email post it up, or are we all bowing to Daves increasingly desperate excuses/pleas and obeying him Im sure his absence can be explained as he has set up a new religious cult somewhere, as he clearly has the ability to manipulate people and get their money based on loads of empty promises

  16. Id well imagine RevolutioN could make it slightly cheaper and a lot better quality than Bratchell can Love it when you ask Bratchell at shows why are his models so expensive and he looks at you like you have just killed his dog

Only wanting to do this so you can moderate comments so its brimming with positivity and goodwill. Ill say it again, its been at least 3 times now - concentrate on what you are doing first. Trains first, the rest will follow
  18. As long as it looks like this Ill be happy - http://www.hondawanderer.com/35017_Watchet_1992.htm
  19. Will the final model have nameplates and its Williton depot plaques I wonder
  20. Not really, I think a few people are of the mindset of 'if you ignore it it will go away'. Theres a lot more to a model railway business than playing with trains, informing the media of the next release and combing resources for photos. You need capital at the end of the day to run a business of any type and preferably your own and not anyone elses. Given one of the top rated programmes on UK TV at present is about Bailiffs seizing assets, a lot of people will be keen to see what comes of this. The Bailiffs dont come immediately, there are plenty of registered letters etc sent beforehand. We are at that point now, letters sent and you have a set period to resolve these issues, otherwise things get worse. Seems to be a lot of naivety on this thread.
  21. Received this email today - LLC Class 50 will not be happening: Dear funders, it is with regret that I have to inform you that Little Loco Company and our partner SJLR Models have decided not to continue development of the Class 50 models as a joint venture. Having discussed the financial implications of competition from a larger and more aggressive company with substantial retailer and customer support we decided the risk was too great to take. The reality is that this is a £275,000 project with only approx 220 guaranteed sales from you, the funders. Having a direct competitor will reduce any possible retail sales to a level that has a real chance of making a substantial loss for the project as a whole, and likely for our competitor too. While we are totally confident of producing a far superior model with a much higher specification for exactly the same price as our competitor, there is no guarantee of making enough retail sales to generate the funds to pay for the development and production (you as funders would have obtained the model for cost price). We were aiming for our first engineering prototype to be presented in January. CAD has already been started, the sound project recorded and drive profile underway, all available relevant drawings obtained and we have the support of several groups and private owners. There is a possibility that the Class 50 project could still go ahead at some point in the future, so all research material and CAD will be kept on file. LLCs financial commitment is still there, but until we are in a position to fund the entire project we cannot proceed. I would like to personally thank you for your interest and support. This decision will have no effect on LLCs planned model releases.
  22. Reads like a very thinly veiled tantrum that the rival announced their model after the LLC one, but showed a pre-production model before LLC did
  23. Excellent choice, better do a Brake Van next to keep standards the same
  24. Is that you taking some 'affirmative action'. Some of the figures you are coming up with seem to be a little on the high side. CAD's certainly dont cost that much. Like I said before - work on what you have announced, dont keep landgrabbing anything and everything. Its been proven now that other manufacturers can go from announcement to CAD to model in less than a year, so maybe if you concentrated on what you are doing rather than what you feel would work using other peoples money you might get further. Plus if you deliver you get a better reputation and people wont be as quick to mock
  25. Getting harder and harder to believe what you say on here, you cant just run away from things either and expect them to disappear. Maybe a time for a re-think on what your strategy is. One thing at a time instead of several
