  1. Elgar's Nimrod and Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuz are always welcome when they turn up on classic FM. ATB Nik
  2. More superb service from Kernow and royal mail. Bargain priced SR 2bil ordered Friday at 1400 arrived Saturday morning. Good work all round Nik
  3. Good god man, you'll be stoking the fires of froth with comments like that. To some this will be tantamount to a release date set in stone!
  4. Well said Old Dudders. The interest in this thread is the fact that it does meander around different subjects, be they telegraph poles, photography or the merits of kit building over rtr. All subjects take differing tangents most are factual or educational and in the background is the ongoing enjoyment of Little Bytham. Which is all presented by an exceptionally experienced figurehead within the UK modelling scene. I personally look forward to seeing more high quality photos and models. Atb Nik
  5. Looking at 66718 you may want to call that graffiti artist back and see if he can cover that mess up.☺ Atb Nik
  6. What a fantastic idea think I'll share this with the wife! On a different note my current tipple of choice is "Old Nutty Hen" a limited edition autumn ale from the people who make Old speckled (underpants) hen. Nik
  7. Norwich beer festival all next week. 100's of great ales, ciders and lagers at arguably one of the best beer festival's in the country. Great atmosphere and some very local people. Nik
  8. I regularly see that 66 passing Caistor St Edmund on the tanks. I'm surprised some enterprising farmer hasn't tried to claim it's scaring the livestock. ;-) Nik
  9. Sitting on a quiet night shift things went Kernow mad after much salivating I put an order in for an 02, the gate stock and 2 of the road vans! Now hoping that they don't all arrive at the same time or my credit card could be in tears, particularly as the model rail US tank proved to be to tempting to resist. Nik
  10. Looks a great model, I've bought one of the lbsc barrel roof canopies but as with so many things have yet to make a start on it. Would be great to see a few finished kits pictures posted here. Nik
  11. Got to agree with Colin on this one. Norwich-London line has been consistently poor for years, the ongoing weekend maintenance/"improvements" and replacement buses always make for a unenjoyable experience. Nik
  12. Damn you Kernow, stop with all these commissions my bank account can't take it!
  13. Just got a Hornby coal drop for £40. Lowest price in ages. Still probably a lot more than originally charged but I'm happy. Nik

    Ask Dave

Hi Dave Not sure whether to post here or in the well tank section, apologies if I chose the wrong one. I am excited by the prospect of further well tank releases but disappointed that none have Southern lettering and all appear to be BR. Would it be possible to release loco's in a painted but unnumbered/unidentified state with or without transfers to allow us to individualise them? Obviously this is not solely a suggestion for the well tank but could be rolled out across the range. Kind regards Nik
  16. Great news. Not my era or region but it is good to see RM Web producing something slightly different. Hopefully this will be the starting point for some more left field ideas. Best of luck Andy and Dave Nik P.S Is it time to start an RM Web commissions wishlist. ;-)
  17. Everything is expensive it just depends on what you want to spend on it. Most hobbies can be enjoyed cheaply but as experience and expertise grow so does the outlay and spending money is not a guarantee of success. We all probably know people who have all the gear and no idea, whose cheque book is bigger than their talent. Remember it's a hobby and if it relaxes and rewards you it's probably worth it Atb Nik
  18. Cheers for the info. You may still want to put a sheet of cork over the whole layout as it will quieten the running. Atb Nik
  19. As a beginner it's great to see the step by step progress so far to see how it goes. Looking like a great layout. One thing though, in maintenance yards and the like the ballast does not usually have the defined shoulder of a mainline so you may not need to chamfer the cork sub base. Yard ballast tends to be a little more neglected. Out of interest how did you make the 1:1 trackplan? All the best Nik
  20. I would reply liking this message if I knew how to!:-) Nik
  21. Chaz thanks for the synopsis. Pretty much as I thought, I will have to make it up. However the points arising have been very interesting and certainly pointed me to some good back stories if nothing else. Cheers to you all Nik
  22. Thanks for continued feedback. Sorry I haven't been posting much in the way of responses but searching out where the lines you mention are, is taking a bit time and digging. As you may have guessed this is only a seed of an idea for a plan, and I'm a very slow worker on the practical side of things. Thanks again for all the great info and continued interest. Nik
  23. Wow thanks for the amazing response! Lots of food for thought there. I originally posted more in hope than expectation. Stewart I am certainly interested on the Cambridge suggestion I never knew Bulleids travelled this far north, which is why I thought I would have to focus on London. Whilst I mentioned A4s and spamcans in the original post their involvement is not a deal breaker, just a nice prospect. Again thanks for the great suggestions. Nik
  24. Hi everybody Was there ever a station where the LNER and Southern regions met? Or where the regions operated in a close enough proximity to have feasibly put an exchange. I ask as I have a scheme for a two level exchange station in mind, possibly in the east London area where I could run my favourite loco's which are mainly Eastern and Southern. Imagine a spam can and A4 together;-). Obviously I could just go completely imaginary but it would be great to either recreate or use a real area as starting point, unless of course it's completely ridiculous Although my knowledge is limited I'm quite happy to do the research, but hopefully the great members on here will be able to point me in some direction. Thanks in advance Nik
