  1. Each time I drive to this area, there are a couple of hills, one with the M20 tunnel running through it called Round Hill, which actually look like the perfect shaped hills you would find on a basic model railway layout. Dilemma would be if I ever modelled the Folkestone area, would comments include 'nice layout, shame she makes the hills look so basic. and not realistic?'! 😊
  2. I had the real pleasure of talking to Phil Parker, Editor of Garden Rail, Features Writer of BRM Magazine, co-moderator of RMweb… chick lit author!! We talked about first locos, what makes a layout stand out at shows and tips on how to get your layout featured in a magazine… and much more… have a watch!
  3. One year ago, who thought this year I am going to build my next layout as a new years resolution and how many of us went ahead and achieved it. I am already thinking today of what I want to build this year as my next one
  4. Highlights of the show, good selection of O gauge layouts and pretty full for the first day, including a 55ft centrepiece

  9. It’s been around 20 years since the launch of a new N Gauge Class 66 model loco design… but now there’s an exciting brand new model in town, this one from Revolution Trains. I sit down with Ben Ando, co founder of Revolution Trains to talk about the launch of the company's new model and why it's set to become the definitive N gauge Class 66 for the next generation. Ben talks about the model's exciting new features and liveries, and a game changing loco numbering service designed to help you create your own unique stock. See interview below

  14. I am coming along on Sunday and hope to get some great video footage and interviews with some of the layout operators. Big cup of coffee first in the cafe across the road
  15. I'm hoping to work on a Japan layout at some point in the future - Here are some photos from the traditional Japanese miniature house i worked on. . it's been a source of inspiration - so intricate, I even had to attach the pot handles individually.
  16. I agree - it can be a bit of a lottery unless you've seen them "in the flesh" so to speak!
  17. Ancorton/Fair Price sound great - will check them out. Thanks for the tip. I think the sky's the limit in terms of modifying - I agree - I've used paper curtains in the past and they're a really nice touch!
  18. Hi Carol, I love your channel and have just subscribed. Beautiful layouts and scenery. I've been involved in model railways for around 2 years - I came to it from painting and other crafts and then got hooked - as you do! I've also been working on a Japanese dolls house which is very intricate. I've just started a Facebook group for women railway modellers called Women Railway Modellers - if you'd like to join? It would be great to grow a community of women in the hobby. https://www.facebook.com/groups/womenrailwaymodellers
  19. Looking forward to seeing some great layouts today! We'll be doing some filming - so if you see us, say Hi!
  20. Hi there I just thought I'd put a post up to connect with any other women railway modellers on this site - please say Hi! I'd love to meet you, albeit virtually! Dawn x
