  1. What's your go-to kit for buildings on your model railway layouts? I've used cardboard and plastic in the past - but for the Brief Encounter monochrome model railway I had to do something different and use laser cut 3mm plywood - the first time I've ever worked with it. I definitely found lots of pros - and just a few minor cons - with laser cut. Here's a review. https://youtu.be/bTKR4-5JzDA?si=YcBfMExkXZcU5_9A
  2. Here's my interview with Julian Evison - Chair of the OO9 Society. It was a real pleasure to meet Julian and, hopefully, more interviews and OO9 content coming soon. https://www.modelrailwayquest.com/post/an-interview-with-julian-evison-chair-of-the-oo9-society
  3. Here is my interview with the 009 Society Chair https://www.modelrailwayquest.com/post/an-interview-with-julian-evison-chair-of-the-oo9-society
  4. Really looking forward to this show - and showing Brief Encounter, my monochrome model railway for the first time. Here's a little video I've made explaining more about the concept and the build. https://youtu.be/1NhzbTsulVM?si=gYu95XWQDn79Whqi
  5. Not at the moment Keith - but I will be doing a post on this at some point in the future.
  6. I've seen some fantastic narrow gauge layouts at the shows over the last few weeks. Here are some of my favourites. Featuring Launceston Steam Railway, Selborne and more.
  7. Move over Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch… here’s a Welsh OO9 exhibition layout called Cynllunrheilfforddenghreifftiolcymreigwrthymylharbwrgyda'renwhirafarygylchdaitharddangos. Translation: a Welsh model railway layout next to a harbour with the longest name on the exhibition circuit
  8. It was great to see The Yard up close - really loved it!
  9. I spent the day at the Beckenham & West Wickham Model Rail Show - a fantastic model railway show, this year in a bigger, brighter, more spacious venue.
  10. A fantastic day at the show with is fab new bright and spacious venue. A great selection of layouts - from the big to the tiny! It was great to chat to so many exhibitors - including Julian Evison - and of course exhibition manager and club chair, Greg Marshall. Will be posting a video later today. Pix: 1) Bletchinghurst - Steve Fryer 2) Canute Road Quay - Graham Muspratt 3) Hazelcombe - Jim McGeachy 4) 1) Julian Evison, The 009 Society.
  11. I use this very simple technique to create a marble effect on small layout features. Using just two colours, a brush and sponge - it’s really quick and easy.
  12. Part 2 of my video series on this show. I talk to the winner of the Most Appealing Layout in show - Pete Goss - creator of the breathtakingly detailed and exquisitely crafted Copper Wort
  13. Here is part one of a series of films I've made interviewing layout operators and seeing some of the layouts at this year's show. In this episode, I interview Terry Tew, builder of Rossiter Rise, and I find out what show managers look for when seeking layouts. Hope you like it! Dawn
  14. Hello Andy, no - not the same user - but I'm going to be exhibiting at his show. Here's a recent video of me this past weekend - different person and different USP.
  15. Brief Encounter which is making its show debut at Woolwich and is a fully monochrome layout is nearly finished. It will have a fully working cinema showing of course the David Lean film and we had to use 32 shades of grey to create the full monochrome effect. Notice what we used to make a 2ft fence, and old Hornby sleeper section
