Hi all,
Had one of those weekends doing small odd jobs to the layout so I feel like I haven’t really achieved that much to be honest! The list of jobs completed were as follows:
- Got the measurements sorted for the laser cut hard standing,
- Removed the cork from where the hard standing is going to sit,
- Tidied up the “train room” (this was a big one),
- Freed up the point blades where glue from the ballast had stuck them together,
- Fitted Dinghams to 37698, 60036, one of my CargoWagon flats, two vans and started the BRA/BYAs (these annoyingly weren’t as successful and are going to need some tweaking.
- Cleaned the majority of Locos wheels on the rolling road and the track with a microfibre cloth,
- Had a play with the CVs on my TTS chip for 60036, it was running really poorly, struggling at low speeds. I’m still none the wiser as to the issue so think it may be a full strip down and service. Any advice on CV settings people have used would be much appreciated.
No real photos from the weekend except a few of the ballasted threeway point and construction of the Dinghams.
Kind regards,
WillLooking forward to more of this Will

Morning all,
So yeah, it's been a while since I last posted - oops! Since my last post, I've sorted myself out a workbench, and moved the majority of my railway stock/tat upstairs so the rest of the house is less cluttered. Anyway, still no sign of a layout. I really should've sorted my baseboards out by now, and with this whole COVID-19 thing, it won't be happening any time soon - .
Here's some pictures taken this morning of what I'm currently dealing with. Lots of railway memorabilia knocking around, including ex-Ffestiniog carr 113 seats. Currently drawing up plans for layouts during this current isolation climate. Oh, and I've since gained a new girlfriend who's madly in love with trains as much as me (she's real before anyone asks) so she'll be contributing stock and support. Get in.
Looking forward the chimney support, complete with Eric the Network Rail man (left) and workbench (right)
The Velux windows are amazing - wouldn't want my loft any other way. My Portmadoc station lamp is on the right, and will be at some point replacing the pedant lamp
Decided to get out the majority of my trains the other day. Quite a nice collection coming along! There's other stuff like my full GWR sleeper rake and DRS 20s at my mate's house, and the XC Mk3SDs are on pre-order from that Liverpool model shop we all know. Also got myself a Wickes oil heater (wasn't required this morning - it's lovely and warm upstairs)
The ex-Ffestiniog Railway carr 113 seats will be fitted with wheels so we can operate the trains from them. Also got plenty of other railway tat such as signs, AWS display and buttons.
Photos all taken on my phone with a lovely wide angle lens for those wondering why it looks so big (that's what she said, but without the lens )
Cheers all! Stay safe out there.
Looks great size room for layout build..

It's been a while since I posted about Llanforen but I was spurred on by a comment, I think it was by Neal Ball, about getting some of his lesser used locos out for a run. So today I decided to do the same.
First up 1335.
This is an old Cotswold kit running on the whitemetal chassis supplied. If I remember correctly I got it from Millholme Models about the time they were closing the Woodborough shop down. When first built the loco could barely pull the tender, let alone a train so I put a floating frame to carry the front two axles of the tender and arranged for the tender to sit on a bracket on the loco. Much better since then. Doesn't really fit the South Wales theme but Rule 1, I like it.
Best wishes to all, keep safe and keep modelling.
Brian

This is great info. Thank you.
Interesting. Seems that steam infrastructure was improved just in time for Diesel! I think I'm going to have to add that coaling spur.
Yes, they make an interesting feature. Another job (or two) goes on the list.
Very nice work here Defford..

Saddly ive lost all the very first "build pictures" of this on the phone.
Ive made front and side panels to go round this layout build also with backscenes too...
Ive made the hard standing same way as Colmore TMD..

Ive always wanted to build one of these places after looking round the one at valley north wales,
bridgewater and the one in Dungeness kent...
So ive already started this layout build last year on and off between working on banks road and now colmore TMD..
This layout is roughly 12ft long by 3ft wide,
made from plywood on light weight timber frame..
Split into two parts
1) fiddle yard and scenery
2) station halt for powerstation workers which over looks the DRS flask compound..
Layout is DCC setup for my sound loco runnings..
Ive also made x6 sets of A frame legs...

I must have been asleep and missed this one mate, I know it's part of the bigger set up, but as a stand alone area it really is exceptional.
Love that lighting too.
Yer ive been busy making this new part of my growing layout here in the New house.
Realy pulled out all the stops with this depot build Andy..
Ive also started back on my DRS modern flask depot...
