A recent handful to keep this up to date
Low geared liner by Steadfast Fotography, on Flickr
Freightlner's 66/6s don't often get onto 75 mph class 4 services, but in the last couple of months at least two have worked 4O57 Wentloog - Southampton, the second I have seen being 66610, here passing Newton St Loe. Presumably this gets locos off the Mendip and Tarmac aggregate circuits down to Hampshire for maintenance, or onward movement to another location for work.
Blue sky bins by Steadfast Fotography, on Flickr
It was rude not to pop out for an hour with the nice spring weather today. First up, it's 66207 in full EWS colours at the head of 6C03 Northolt - Severnside bins, seen alongside the A4 Bath Road between Netwton St Loe and Saltford. A nice mix of the blue and yellow boxes today too.
One loco, one wagon by Steadfast Fotography, on Flickr
66598 passes Undy with a single JGA in tow on 6Z48 Stoke Gifford - East Usk. There looks to be the remains of a green card on the wagon, so this is presumably a wagon off maintenance being taken to Newport to be added to a set and back onto the Tarmac circuit.
Still busy by Steadfast Fotography, on Flickr
After a couple of hours shunting 66035 'Resourceful' sits in Westbury Up Yard atop five loaded autoballasters. Despite the general lull in the economy due to the all encompassing COVID-19 coronavirus and contrary to pictures of yards elsewhere in the country, rail freight in this neck of the woods is as busy as ever. Mendips seem to still be running most if not all their services and the Network Rail trippers are loading well. Taking it one day at a time, as each announcement from Boris and Co. seems to deliver further shut down and restrictions.
All mapped out by Steadfast Fotography, on Flickr
Named after the designer of the iconic Tube map that covers the loco's bodywork, 66721 'Harry Beck' is seen from the bridleway between Coalpit Heath and Westerleigh working 6V84 Clitheroe - Avonmouth Hanson Cement. Whilst the site fencing looks untidy, it is a reminder of the work undertaken here to repair the bank that has opened this shot up. A year ago there were a lot more bushes!
Red lights at night, signalman's delight by Steadfast Fotography, on Flickr
Signalman is happy because no one is asking for a shunt! All quiet at Westbury as the sun sets, W704 is at danger and 66097 is tucked up for the night. With the lack of aircraft flying due to the coronavirus restrictions, the sky is lovely and clear.
Jo
Great set of pictures there Jo...

I'm trying to use the extra time to finish off some projects which have been hanging around for too long.
First finished is this Grampus, from the Chivers Finelines plastic kit, which had been left on the shelf for many years. I think the reason I'd put it aside and lost interest was the difficulty of making the four combined handrail / step units identical, one for each corner. Anyway in the last few days I've forced myself to do it, and painted, lettered and weathered the wagon so at last it is finished.
The lettering is from a Modelmasters sheet which covers various Engineers' wagons but had no numbers on it for this particular type, so the number is made up by combining two different ones.
The Grampus next to it is a 'standard' one made by combining the Dapol RTR body with Parkside underframe parts.
Some very nice work here Steve,
wil pop in again soon...
cheers neil..

Good Evening All
A good day at the Monmouth Show today although for obvious reasons visitor numbers a bit thin on the ground. Still raining, but OR safely back inside.
Had some good chats on all things DMU. Was quiet enough that I even ended up testing someone's newly bought second-hand locos. Layout performed well despite extremely uneven floor.
Rich
Very nice stock Rich and all the detailing on your depot too..

Despite the menace of you-know-what the Perth Green (Jarrow) Model Railway Exhibition last weekend was a chilled, very pleasant event. The folk up there were very warm and friendly so the Holland Beck crew had a fine time up there.
We did end up being backed into a corner of a small room surrounded my narrow gauge layouts, leading to the revelation that 009 modellers don't in fact bite and have a great sense of humour. Thanks for your company, lads.
A view down Carnival Bank as a 156 heads towards Barton. Some odd photographic stuff means both red lights on the crossing appear to be illuminated together.
The signalling equipment at Holland Beck Ground Frame.
60007 gets away with a trip working to Immingham after picking up the single line token from the crossing keeper.
Humberside Police pointing the way to a decent cup of tea for the downed Army Air Corps pilot.
As 47744 trundles in with the empties for the brickworks, ex-army Ruston 802 waits to pick them up.
Great set of pictures here!!
Looking forward to another update

So you know you need to get on the phone to Brian and get some ordered! I hadn’t seen them no - I’m quite tempted actually; they look a better option than my idea of chopping the Bachmann 47 ones apart; may give that a go first and then look at Petes. They look really nice I have to admit, were you soldering or gluing as they look quite fine to be soldering if so!
A quick progress update from this evening, back on ballasting duties and I’ve done the majority of the threeway point - just the mainlines to go which is significantly easier due to the larger size ballast. Everything will need touching up but pretty happy with the first “coat”.
I also had a play with the Accurascale bufferstop - very impressive. Soldered the droppers you’re the track and applied a small dob of superglue to get the thing to stay in the wider track so it effectively ballances - which hopefully you can’t really notice. I thought this was preferable to chopping the thing up!
Finally two shots of Motts Lane resident 60500:
Hopefully get on with the ballast and get onto some more exciting things!
Thanks for looking,
Will
More great updates here Will,i like your weathered track finish..

Thanks Module, it is/was a very nice model, but I think the waranty is now void!
Boiler exhaust and other attachments plus water tanks removed now makes it ready to become a 25/0. In fact after checkings books and photo's last night, it turns out that out of the 25 25/0's, 10 had bigger fuel tanks (16-25), and out of the other 15 only one had matching details for my time period. So 25 003 it is! Kev.
Nice work on those 25s Kev

Every so often on RMweb some of us get a smack in the mouth from some of these "nothing to contribute except negativity types".
I still maintain that there's a lot of varied content and if you don't like what someone has taken the time to share you can simply scroll on past rather than start criticising or name calling.
Chris made me realize that this is a modeling forum and not really a place for all this jibber jabber and bickering about the misinterpretations of info and advise over the pandemic situation.
Personally we're using every precaution possible no matter how trivial except that the night before last Mrs.Squatch came out to the warehouse and said.
"Don't you think that you're taking this self isolation thing a bit too far".
The walling I scribed yesterday saw a return to the warmth of the kitchen table.
Lots of work with a biro these are the retaining walls for the rail bridge over the rope hauled incline. Although sticking to my usual method they seem to have come out on the dark side.
May the force be with you.
Nice work on these walls here
thanks neil..

Got myself an airbrush kit a year ago, and haven't had the nerve to use it yet! Very impressed by your weathering - I do like Class 37s even though I don't have any myself!
Will watch out for further updates during our enforced extended modelling period!

I've decided to start a workbench thread to keep these projects separate from my Redfield layout thread.
To start things off here's a quick weathering exercise started today of an oxford BR crew bus.
The condition it is being depicted in is post BR use, having been sold to the private railway company. The logos have been (roughly) painted out and the exterior is in quite a sorry state.
All the weathering was done with my usual method of light washes of watercolour, this then being buffed with a soft brush to tone it down.
Detail such as light rusting on the corners and edges, and the marking on the rear door were added with a fine brush and fairly dry watercolour.
The chassis of the bus - I think glue used in the making of it has caused the windows to frost up, but as the layout is set in winter, I may apply some varnish to the windows to frost them further and place it in a parked position.
More to follow soon.
Thanks for looking, Evan
Nice work here Evan,im following now budd..
