  1. Afternoon everyone, Some fine examples of Land Rovery on display here! Does anyone know of a model of a 130 in 1/76? I'd imagine a JB/Airfix lengthened would be the best way to go. I was inspired by the limber used for Duke of Edinburgh's funeral. Steve
  2. Neil, That's the book I have... lol I wonder if other volumes ever appeared. Steve
  3. Thanks chaps, That's a very interesting read. The photo of the one in Southampton looks as if it's a Mark 1 profile. Steve
  4. Good evening, I'm trying to find some info on BR heater vans but internet searches haven't turned anything up. The photo I've found shows one being shunted outside Southampton Dock by a Class 07 but I can't make out the number. Can anyone help with dimensions please? Steve
  5. Thanks David, I'm not planning to run diesel locos fast anyway so that's not a problem. Steve
  6. Anyone got any photos of the aforementioned tractor with a steel buffering plate welded on?
  7. Hi everyone, Great thread. I seem to have built a collection of green Scottish diesels but I wonder if any photos exist of a Clayton and either Class 21 or preferably 29 working in multiple.
  8. That's a very strange decision! Well, I guess Rule 1 will have to apply, lol. Thanks Russ,
  9. Hi Russ, Yes they were originally Red Diamond, while the 21/29 was originally Red Circle. I haven't worked out whether the re-engined ones were rebuilt as Blue Star. Steve
  10. Morning, I've just found this thread. In theory is it possible for Blue Star fitted Claytons to work in multiple with Blue Star fitted Class 29s? Steve
  11. David, I have a computer PSU with both 12v and 5v outputs and wondered about using this for model railways but I've been told it's not as simple as it sounds. Can you advise, please? Steve
  12. Hi everyone, I've just found this great thread, curiously whilst trying to find another on Prototype Question forum! The one I was looking for was about cement works traffic at Southerham. Steve
  13. Evening all, This is a brilliant thread! I remember hearing about a Newhaven based driver who was shunting the van train and ended up spilling Transits all over the yard! C126 mentioned Motorail flats, there used to be a Newhaven-Stirling service. As for the excellent track diagrams, I remember seeing a turntable well in Seaford yard, there's a brick wall but it could be seen from the top deck of the bus. This would have been around '84 but it had gone by '87 when I began working in Seaford. The yard has been built over. I'm going to Seaford tomorrow I'll have a look from the train. Brilliant thread, Steve
  14. Bernard, That Minx is outstanding, I thought it was an Oxford new release at first glance! Steve
  15. Thanks Johann, that's very useful, I'd better get on to their website but I might have to wait a while to pick it up. Steve
  16. Evening everyone, I'm enjoying this thread but I have a question. Does anyone know of a match for Ulsterbus blue? It's a mid blue, not dissimilar to Jones of Aberbeeg. I know the cream/ivory is a Cherry/Precision colour. Steve
  17. Hi achil, Yes, you're right. I didn't put that very well. I remember reading many years ago about Alexander's Riviera Blue and Trader Ivory but that may be wrong. It is the blue I need a match for, Model Bus Zone lists Cherry/Precision paint as having a match for the ivory. Any ideas on the blue? I found this site useful for NIR blue locos and Revell paint. Steve
  18. Hi everyone, I've been following your posts for some time and they bring back memories of travelling by train in the 1970s. I've recently received the Colourpoint book on Ulsterbus -The Heubeck Years and was wondering if anyone here knows a paint match for Midland Blue which I understand is an Alexander colour. Ivory is available and listed on Model Bus Zone website. I'm asking on this page as I thought more of you would be likely to know than on the Road Vehicles page on the main site. Regards, Steve
  19. Hi 'Chard, That's great info but are you sure about Class 21 and 29? It would make more sense that 21 were Red Circle, and the re-engined ones (Class 29) were Blue Star. Steve
  20. Hi Arun, I took these at Rudgewick Steam and Country Fair a few years ago. Steve
  21. No, sorry, needs to be a Verona hatchback in Juice Green Metallic, latterly with grey primed bumpers. When I told the missus what colour it was she said I'm not driving a lime green car! Steve
  22. Great pictures, Have you seen this book? It's mainly about A and C class locos with a section about BR Co-Bos (they were Metro-Vick too!). I also found this flyer on the floor of Botanic station in Belfast in 1978, that loco would have been interesting! Steve
  23. Hi chaps, I've just found this thread, but have been following Hunslet 102s layout for some time. Great work! I lived in Craigavon for a few years in the 70s and the usual fare was 80 class DEMUs with the odd 70 class. I do remember, however, my train being formed of a Hunslet and mk2s on the run to Portadown once. I also have a photo, somewhere, of a Hunslet at Lisburn taken either in '81 or '85. I'll try and dig it out. I've just come home from a holiday in NI and was glad to see a Hunslet in maroon around the turntable in Cultra. As for the books, I bought the one on the right in 1980 in Donegall Place, and have subsequent issues as well as Platform 5 books which contain several mk2 photos. Thanks, Steve
  24. Love this, I mainly travelled on the 80 class but sometimes one of these would deputise. The very odd time, there would be a Hunslet with exBR mk2s... this was so smooth!
