  1. Cant be 100% sure as walked and photographed 10 miles that day. North of Hollaway i think.
  2. Hope that works, as i said, a fair distance from the station.
  3. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Shillingstone+Station/@50.8946891,-2.237396,259m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x4873b35431b610c3:0xbb3541ec39886d3f!8m2!3d50.9042184!4d-2.2505979
  4. This is the picture i took afterwards, so about the same position facing west. Edit. I have just had look on google maps and i would say its even further South than the red box.
  5. That looks about right. It was on an small embankment. It was way before you could see Holy Rood Church. Thank You.
  6. It was South of the station around the allotments, so about 1/4 to 1/2 a mile, on the up side (left hand side looking north towards the station).
  7. Thats what i thought, it is quite a distance from the platforms, maybe the distant?
  8. I took a photo of this near to Shillingstone station. Is it what i think it is?
  9. Wow, some cracking looking trains on this thread. I love WCCs. I have Swanage on order from Golden Age Models, saying that its been on order for a year with probably a while to go yet. Is it rude to re post this picture of mine? Hornby Combe Martin and Blandford Forum
  10. Very impressive, i struggle with Wills plastic rodding. Nice work.
  11. I really hope we find the location of this photo, it is most interesting.
  12. I have been trying to think where the photo might have been taken for the past few days, i grew up in Blandford and i cant think of a spot near the Milldown that has a cutting that high on one side but none on the other. Maybe close to the current bypass or a bit further north near the bridge over the A350 to Stourpaine, certainly solid chalk those hills, but why would it be freshly exposed after so many years in service? Those old maps are wonderful, great resource.(thank you) I walked the old line from Blandford to Sturminster Newton last month, absolutely stunning and still a lot to be seen of interest for a DCR nerd like myself. The small 3 arch cattle creep near to Blandford bypass is a great little structure, i had no idea it was there, despite driving past it a thousand times.
  13. It really looks like the cutting at Spetisbury looking south.
  14. Buildings on Stur and platforms started.
  15. Heres a shot of the goods loop heading South into the station. I have only recently started this extension, it runs around the loft to Sturminster Newton. The goods shed is in the wrong place, it should be behind the station building in my neighbours loft. ( i have never seen a photograph of the original goods shed at Shillingstone). I will be building bridge no 180 that goes over the road to Child Okeford just after the buffer stop on the layby siding.
  16. Hi Dave, thanks for the reply. I was leaning towards slaters for the less thickness plus flexability, i will use them for sure. They look great on your layout. I have started my first Dapol brake van, great little kit and as you say, great price. Thanks Paul.
  17. Hi Westernviscount, Great blog. I have bought a Dapol kit and will have a go at this, really like it. I have a unrelated question if you dont mind. What do you use for the platform brick edges in the photos? I am struggling to find something to get the texture, maybe Wills or Slaters?
  18. Theres a Ivo Peters photo of a Pannier tank crossing Sturminster Newton bridge over the Stour heading north with a local pick up goods.
  19. That is excellent thanks, i have a loco on that list that i didnt even know ran the S&D. admittedly 43924 is listed as noted on the line but still, thats good news to me.
  20. As its a lovely summer Saturday tomorrow, heres Combe Martin and Blandford Forum (Hornby) on the up and down Pines. I only run these on a Saturday but get them set up the night before as something usually goes wrong with them.
  21. Thats awesome, i have recently discovered the joys or not so of a 0.5mm drill.
  22. Thats exactly what i have done Jack, plus a Wills kits stone water tower and Dapol signal box. Total cost less than i paid for Bachmann Shillingstone station building from the North Dorset Railway Trust, but at least that money went to a good cause. I do read the Child Okeford blog and take some inspiration from it, thank you. Paul.
  23. This is my terminus based on Broadstone, lots still to do here. This was originally Swanage but it could not cope with my intended traffic, so was extended, goods yard added and access to MPD. Note how the Metcalfe platforms have shrunk in the summer heat causing the fencing to warp. I am trying to find a good way to make platforms, any tips?
  24. Just started Sturminster Newton, a bit short on space TBH but will go with what i have. Going to be using old kits for the station build, Peco, Wills, Dapol, Airfix etc. Old school and should be fun.
  25. Fantastic stuff, looks amazing. That wiggle we all get?, well i blame Enstien and all that gravity=mass stuff myself. Cmon Bachmann you need to change the laws of physics. Only joking of course, what a wonderful model.
