  1. I have been working on the goods shed and Northern approach into the station. Had some great help from posters on the Somerset and Dorset RMWEB forum, including photos and advice on point rodding. Ballasting and weathering next, I really must make a sky scene to cover the other station building above the bridge, so much to do.
  2. Hi Chris, I need educating on point rodding, is it one rod for the point and another for the lock? 2 per point. Also you will have to explain the diamond to me as well. Thanks Paul.
  3. Thats awesome, love the wooden floorboards, how did you do that?
  4. Hi Jack, The furniture sales room was / is the building behind the goods shed, only thing left, goods shed long since demolished. I dont know about rail milk for the creamery im afraid. Paul.
  5. No one sells a SDJR signal box apart from the Bachmann resin cast ones but i think a few kits can be modified to be close, Ratio Midland style and Dapols chip as chips signal box can be made to look like a timber, like Stur / Shillingstone.
  6. Thank you Blandford 1969, thats really great i appriciate that a lot. The back side of the goods shed ive never seen so will be doing something similar to that model i guess. I will look up Wincanton for images. The station plans are wonderful, thank you again, i will alter the station building i have built (Peco kit) in time to look more the part.(or maybe scratch build). Have 4 days full modelling time from tomorrow lets see if i can get something started.
  7. Thanks, that is worth a try. I also note a picture of a Pannier 0-6-0 tank crossing Stur bridge on the museum site, knew i had seen that somewhere.
  8. Sorry to drag up an old thread. I am currently building Stur station and want to scratch build the goods shed. Found a few photos but i guess theres not much about, does anyone have any photos at all? Plenty of images here but i cant open the flicker files. Thanks Paul.
  9. My interest lies in the southern section of the S&D between Templecombe and Broadstone, some one off designs like Blandford that overhung the rails behind or simple all timber structures like Sturminster Newton (as in my avatar) and Shillingstone.
  10. I was just googling for this coach set and found this thread. Not a suprise really as we are all looking for the same answers. Just recently bought a Bachmann Evening Star and wanted the matching set from the same photos. Thanks Jack and Ian.
  11. So, it looks like Hattons are proposing to make 4 and 6 wheel coaches in SDJR colours. Dont have much more info as only an email so far. https://www.hattons.co.uk/newsdetail.aspx?id=594
  12. Wow, great link Andy, a lot to take in. Seeing a BLP with 3 on is news to me. Thank you. A Wickham trolley as well,,
  13. Found another picture from my June walk of the S&D that i thought might be of interest to some. The steps leading up the embankment near to Sturminster Newton signal box, still in great condition.
  14. Done some of the point rodding, not sure how to paint them, should i just weather them with the track and ballast? I have got to make the drop in the platform for the crossing.
  15. I test laid all the track and made the platforms and buildings a few months ago to check the plan and clearances. In the last week i have wired all the feeds, point motors, polarity switches, isolation zones and signals. after checking it all works i glued the track down with PVA and then sprayed the whole track matt black and started the weathering. This afternoon i put the buildings back in place to double check the clearances. Next up more weathering and point rodding.
  16. Hi Jack, Just had a look on TMC, Camelford looks the part with cylinder fairings and early logo, really good price as well, bargain. Look forward to seeing this model progress. Nice to know about Ambis for the catchers cheers for that. I have a few Bachmann spare ones if you have problems sourcing them.
  17. Very nice and i must say, what a great railway room you have.
  18. Would have been much cheaper to reverse with a DMU, but a question i have thought about many times myself.
  19. I had much the same conversation on the RTR sub forum about trains that may have run on the S&D in the late 1980s. Seems class 150s might have been used due to shorter carriage lengthes for the restricted tunnels on the line and maybe class 47s due to thier power. class 150 dmu in regional railways livery seemed to fit.
  20. I have been working on the section south of the halt, still plenty to do.
  21. Looks awesome, give Kadees a try, i really like them. Im pretty much 100% Kadee now.
  22. Thank you John. Do you have any information on Swanage? a favourite loco of mine due to family weekends at Swanage sailing club in the late 70s, i used to sneak off and spend time at the railway station. Paul.
  23. All i can find is that four Light Pacifics had been transferred to Bath MPD in 1951 until 1954, but it does not state which locos.
