  1. Very pleased to report that it's now been two weeks since my operation at the RD&E and as Nina Simone once said. "And I'm feeling good!" Especially when that damn catheter was removed last Wednesday. So today sees the start of the backscene painting, as that's not too strenuous. And besides, if I don't start creating something soon, I'll go crazy.
  2. OK, I understand now, Gold is a step up from Premium. No probs.
  3. Hi there, I have just signed up for Premium, but can't see my Gold badge yet. Is it in the post.😀
  4. Thanks John. The backscene is a photo now, but will eventually be an oil painting .
  5. A few months ago I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Which after several tests, turned out to be quite an aggressive type. Fortunately I was fast tracked for a RALP, prostatectomy this Monday. Like others have already said, I've found RMweb to be a very warm and friendly and helpful place. I look forward to my morning fix, my afternoon fix and many other times in between. Obviously, feeling a bit out of it right now, as it's only been two days since surgery. But I'm hoping to be able to get back to finishing Bodmin Moor soon enough. Mind you, there's still a few months till SWAG.

BTW all the comments on my last posts have been a very welcome distraction indeed.
  7. Getting in amongst the weeds.
  8. A quick update on the diorama that is Bodmin Moor. Pleased to say we're almost there now, am already thinking about Bovey Quay.
  9. And we're doing the Little Muddle Foxtrot - Slow, Slow, Not-So-Quick, Not-So-Quick, Slow
  10. Value Does the Work – Colour Gets the Credit!
  11. Great stuff Rob, loads of space for all those bits. I've got pretty much the same deal here.
  12. I left my Bodmin Moor diorama for nine months! 😀 ...but pleased to say I've come back with a huge amount of energy and have all the moves planned ahead. Can now see the finishing line zooming towards me.
  13. Absolutely! It's easy to get bogged down in prototypes. But quite often we're forced to make compromises in scope, in scale, trees are a good example. But of course colour is the main thing. For me it's often a case of the P-way (prototypical) vs My way, (what looks right from an artist's perspective).
  14. Very nice work there Mr A, these things take time.
  15. Many thanks for all the above info. Very useful indeed. I suppose I should have mentioned I'm modelling in O gauge, sorry. Bovey Quay is meant to be a nod to Bovey Tracey. I was looking for something that sounded right to me. I'll probably end up kit bashing the 12/13 ton below, a recent purchase.
  16. My layout, Bovey Quay will be set between 1945 and 1965. Is there a suitable wagon in existence. Either RTR or a kit model to use as for a china clay train? I understand it would be an end tipper. I also believe the tent covers weren't used till the 70s.
  17. Thanks for the info, good to know.
  18. I'm planning on building a small rake of these for Bovey Quay as it will feature a china clay unloading shed in the harbour. A bit nervous TBH as this will be my first wagon kit.
