  1. I believe that you owe me a pie to go with the beans. 😋
  2. A mixture of coal dust, ash horse muck and a little moss perhaps?
  3. Looks good from here. I didn't think that my livestock yard was going to work, but a coat of filler/ paint / dirt changed my mind.

    EBay madness

Considering the mark up from what they offer for secondhand items, they do have some "interesting" prices. I generally only buy used items from individuals and new items from traders when it comes to railway items.

    EBay madness

A bargain at £56, apparently. I used to read their secondhand pages, yes there was the odd bargain, but not anything that I actually wanted. It does provide a bit of amusement for a boring train journey though.
  6. I'd made the built up ground behind the station the same way that you have. Next time I do such a thing I will laminate three layers of mounting card for the surface using PVA, it should then behave like plywood.
  7. I had a similar issue with the station yard on my layout deciding to look like the parking lot of a drive in movie theatre. I let it dry, then filled up the hollows with a fairly dry mix of polyfilla and PVA. I let it dry a couple of days and replaced the surface treatment. I think that I got away with it.
  8. Agreed on both counts, which was the point of my post early on Thursday morning which I got jumped on for. Much has been lost, much has been saved and if this forum means as much to its members as they say it does then it's down to us to fill in the gaps wherever possible and make the efforts of those who have done so much to salvage RMWeb a little more worthwhile.
  9. Very nice, it's rare to see one Matchless twin, never mind a pair and both with what look like original numbers.

    Little Muddle

Not so much captured, quite possibly the spoils of an illicit game of cards in the smoke room of the Kangaroo Inn, Aston on Clun. One of our aircraft is missing...
  11. Not at all, you have to laugh at anything that you can walk away from. I'm lucky to have been trained to take care of myself (hence the telling off I think!) and if someone who was off his nut, either on crack or a cocktail of cocaine and ketamin, which seems to be the favourite locally, attacks you in your own home, you've little choice but to use force. Especially as the police have their hands tied and the courts are a complete joke. Anyway, rant over, the farmyard is really coming to life now and I have to admit that I wish I could have squeezed in a farm, particularly a Dutch barn. Even more particularly, one of the Dutch barns where the roof could be lowered as the hay stack was depleted, using a system of cables and pulleys mounted atop the poles.
  12. I was tempted to comment earlier, but in the case of the break in we had, I actually caught said scrote in my workshop (it was underneath our flat) He could have made a run for it, there was nothing between him and the door, but decided to have a go and grab his loot instead. Let's just say it didn't end well for him and he must have fallen over some of my junk. So we had police, ambulance etc. He promised to go to rehab and got a suspended sentence. I got a bit of a lecture, but what was I going to do? I'd already told the memsahib to get out of the house and ring the cops, she was actually very scared and I didn't want her coming downstairs thinking I was in trouble and doing something irrational that would get her in trouble with the law.
  13. Or the dyslexic devil worshipper who sold his soul to Santa? It's too hot for a coat!
  14. Who the hell is that guy? I'm Flash!
  15. That would be one of the Bowser "Red Sentry" series of pumps from the 1920s. As you can see, the top shade/ globe mount is missing, but well worth saving.
  16. 150 and counting. Some of them have even been built and painted!
  17. I see no flash! One thing that I have often had problems with is misalignment of the die halves resulting in a step in the moulding. Not always possible to file back to square either. It's been a problem with some of my fencing. Compromise and a good coat of paint being the answer!
  18. The problem with a lot of RTR cattle wagons is that you can't get the roof off easily to fit a livestock load.
  19. I think that dark stone would look good actually.
  20. Very nice job there. I will be needing a large number of cattle trucks for my layout. I've collected a lot of kits down the years and a few RTR. Once I have the eastern end of the layout something like complete I will be having a mad production line session to get a couple of trains built.
  21. Choices, choices.... Items such as bridges and their railings were painted grey, but there was a dark green in use at one time, the exact details of which are apparently lost. Railings in (mostly) non public areas were painted in a black bitumen paint. I'm assuming of course that the railings are on the railway property? If not, the colour used for the pumping station doors etc.

Are the holes at the top of the urinal walls designed to prevent or encourage p**sing contests? As for the German nick ditty, I remember that from junior school, late 70s, the lad who knew all the words and started it off amongst our year was actually a from Trinidad. Maybe it's global? 🤔

Gad the heat! The memsahib's says it was cooler in Poonah ! We've been out, drinking with extra ice and listening to jaaaaazzz baby..... But it made no difference.. Thinking of sleeping like Dracula in the cellar tonight. I've worked in much hotter places, but this is a different, sticky kind of heat.
  24. Speaking of (reasonably) clean and tidy railways, painting is ongoing with the crossing gates. It's become too clammy in the house to do the black detailing, so we're going to the clammy pub instead....
  25. Hm, if you sneak into Wolf's Castle, watch out for the minefield and machine gun nests. The memsahib's become a little security conscious since we got burgled at the last place....
