  1. Last Saturday I brought a new locomotive for the layout: It's a Dapol Class 73 73212 in Network Rail livery. It's sold under the Gaugemaster collection brand. It'll help the two 31s with the handling of the freight and help 31602 with Network Rail duties. This is the beginning of the "modernization" of the fleet. I've yet to get diesel classes 20, 37, 47, 50, 57, 59, 60, 66, 67, 68, 70 and 07 in their respective liveries. I'm also planning to sell on the two 31s in the future and get an updated version of 31602.
  2. It is. I've previously used it on Draxbridge for the inset track. I think it'll do good on here too.
  3. Just found this article regarding the LNER 91: "Class 91s hauling Mk 4s will remain with London North Eastern Railway until 2023. [...] The extension is until the end of 2023 while LNER sources brand new trains, which would take a minimum of around two years to build and deliver. The operator has previously told RAIL it needs around six new trains." The full article can be found here: https://www.railmagazine.com/news/fleet/lner-to-keep-class-91s-until-2023
  4. Update: I have received some DAS modelling clay from my Grandad. I'm looking forward to putting it into the layout.
  5. I've been thinking about how to recreate the track. It's covered in what looks like coal and ash. I thought about using DAS modelling clay or polyfiller then painting it black. I've also considered getting the real stuff from Grosmont, (when the NYMR reopens), breaking it up and gluing it onto the layout. I could even use the modelling clay and put a thin layer of the real coal on top. What is the best way to do this?
  6. Keeping in the weathering theme, diesel locomotives weren't clean for very long (neither were steam). To back that up, here is a slightly dirty 'Shed' seen at York on 22/01/22.
  7. TransPennine Express Class 68s seen at Seamer and York throughout last year and this year. Decided to do it in numerical order rather than the date the photo was taken. 68022 Resolution at York (06/11/21) 68023 Achilles at York (09/10/21) 68024 Centaur at York (22/01/22) 68025 Superb at York (22/02/22) 68029 Courageous at Seamer (09/10/21) 68030 Black Douglas at York (06/11/21) 68031 Felix at York (18/09/21) And finally, 68032 Destroyer at York (06/11/21)
  8. Went to club again last night and worked on the layout. Turns out the board is smaller than I thought it was... I've only got room (length wise) for 1 R601, 1 R600 and 2 R610s, however I can fit all three tracks on the board. I started off by measuring up how much backscene board I needed to cut off for the end and back of the scenic section. Pictured below is the end. Sadly, I wasn't able to take anymore photos of my progress as my phone decided to die but I can confirm that the backscene board is screwed on and the track glued.
  9. Past and present ECML power at York on 22/01/22 as an unidentified LNER Azuma (Class 801) slows down on platform 5 as Class 91 91111 For the Fallen rests on platform 6.
  10. The board isn't wide enough or long enough for me to do the whole TMD. It's only 2 R601s (Hornby double straight) long and about one and a half R600s (Hornby standard straight) wide.
  11. Should have been numbered 66220 as Evening Star's number is 92220.
  12. I'm also doing the sidings behind it. The plan is to have the three tracks operational with some shunting going on between loco movements.
  13. Saw GBRF Class 66 66759 Chippy at York a few minutes ago.
  14. I was scrolling through pictures of the area when I came across this image. The first thing I noticed was that the fence has wider gaps between the rails and looks different to the previously mentioned fence. I probably won't be able to modify the PECO fence to look like this so I'm going to have to have a think. I then looked at the aerial view of the same area and saw that there are two fences. The one with the wider gaps starts from the shed up to the first gate. The other fence starts just behind (I think) 75029 and goes up along side the shed. It then turns left and stops before the second gate. It then continues straight on.
  15. On Grosmont MPD, the fence has three rails whereas the PECO kit has four. However, the kit can be easily modified by removing the top rail.
  16. Went to Mighty Lancer Games after work and brought some more track, buffer stops and some fencing.
  17. A bit of modeller's licence is going to be needed. The line going into the shed has a bit of a curve. However, I will just be doing it on a straight line. I notice that the rails are embedded into the ground. I thought about how to recreate this and I thought I could use DAS modelling clay or something similar. It would be painted black after though. I can source the fences from either one of my local model shops but I'm not sure about the crossing gates. I first thought that the gates from Ratio 509 Occupation/ Farm crossing gates would do it but I think they would work as they are too big. Perhaps I can slightly modify them to fit...
  18. I've decided what part of the MPD I'm going to do. I'm going to recreate the area where Dame Vera Lynn, 75029 and 44806 are currently stored awaiting overhaul.
  19. I've found one of the NYMR steam fleet on the Rails of Sheffield site. BR Green 75029 "The Green Knight". It's for £178.50 but you also have to pay £7.50 for delivery.
  20. I'm currently watching Yorkshire Steam Railway on My5. I watching all the episodes to see if I can get any overhead views of the MPD. I'm going to take pictures of them so I can use them when planning the layout.
  21. It's been a few months since I lasted posted anything on here so I'll update you on the progress: I've decided to put this plan on hold for now due to the lack of space and materials but I'm still going ahead with the Grosmont MPD idea: in OO!
  22. I've always been a fan of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and have been planning two NYMR based layouts which I've posted progress of on this site. However, those were just in the planning stages and I never got far with them. This is because I currently don't have the space or the stuff needed for them. This will give me something to do while I wait to get the backscene sorted on the other layout I'm building which can be viewed here: https://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/167324-new-oo-gauge-shelf-layout/#comment-4714821
  23. I was at the model railway club I go to last night and I found two boards. I enquired about them and asked if anyone was going to use them. No one wanted them so I decided to do something with them. The board on the left will be the baseboard and the one on the right will be the backscene. (See photos below) How it will look.
  24. Caught 09017 again later on in the day shunting non other than the Flying Scotsman.
