  1. Jim Great pics of 37025 you must have been one of the most photographed trains in UK that day would obviously like to see her work a few trains up here but as long as she is mainline earning her keep and some £ to help restore her sisters. You never know if Colas still need 37's you could be driving 37261 when she is restored. Also Jim if you can you should try and get here for Bo'ness diesel gala you could even bring the class 70 don't think they have had one there yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. John I am fairly sure timber loading was done at Taynuilt well into the 2000's as part of the Enterprise network I think operations were at some point concentrated at Crainlarich until EWS lost the contract for the timber
  3. Eddie Thanks for sharing you do have a great job love the pic of the 37's on the swing bridge. Also like the 66 on the Scotsman Dave
  4. Toffee Hope you get to see dottie 007 soon hope my pics will do in the meantime we call this livery Spotrail
  5. All Some pics of the Scotrail Class 68007 Valiant as for my namesake these are true Scottishlocos with the livery to match
  6. Wow Has it really been over a year. Had a lot going on last year passing driving test getting my first ever car and seeing Vulcan XH558 for the final few times so railways and model railways have taken a bit of a backburner. Having said that i am still building up the stock to run on Loch Tarbhit just more slowly than I would have liked. I now have most of the freight I wish to run so focus has turned to passenger trains coaches are proving elusive and expensive but I continue to check E-bay and local model shops. I shall post a few update photos soon the layout is safe and well. Dave
  7. Jim "60s are the comfiest and 70s are quite nice (when they are not moving and bouncing around!) 37s are not comfy at all, 47s are ok, 66s big cab end are best for sleeping on" 37's may not be comfy but they have a damn good stereo!
  8. Jim If you get a chance can you fit a Westie to 37175 The Colas livery looks good with NR yellow coaches Dave
  9. Guys I seen 68006 on the Fife loco turn last night the 3D sample looks good may just have to get one even it it's not my era Dave
  10. Jim Glad you got to drive a 37 again hopfully more Colas 37's will be running soon hearing you guys have won a few contracts and in running for a few more! Regards Dave
  11. All What is your favourite depot where class 37's were based no surprise but has to be Motherwell for me . The Ravenscraig pool locos were used on heavy trains and full power was used on a good portion of these journeys. With a good reliabillity rate. Then there was the mid to late 90's i dont think other depots could have survived such a massive loss most of it's traffic wiped out. Despite clouse under DBS it is now used by DRS and class 37's do still make it there every now and then. True grit what a good depot but what is your favourite maybe you worked there or had a visit or open day. Please share post pics or anecdotes/stories what makes your class 37 depot .
  12. All What a great operation a very modelable train this is sort of traffic the railways should be winning back all over he country thanks for posting
  13. Nice My family are from Lanarkshire but we moved and i was still young i can remember seeing Ravenscraig and a trip to Motherwell TMD when i was younger there was blue and redstripe class 37's and a breakdown train wish i had seen one of these trains seen a few vids of them amazing noise Dave
  14. All Just a bit of fun what are your favorite 37 hauled trains passenger and freight 1 rule though They must be trains which you have actualy seen in in the flesh feel free to post pics if you have them too Mine are both Scottish services as you would expect, The Royal Scotsman it is etched in my memory seeing 37428 when repainted into the Maroon livery being sent off by a piper The freight train is the Hartlepool to Georgemass pipe train what a glorious racket and those big yellow pipes just look good Dave
  15. Jim Sorry to hear of the failure of 56113 looks like you had your own diesel gala that day though! Seen a pic of DRS 37 and the errant 56 with some good clag from the exhausts. Also after repairs 56113 made back up to Grangemouth
  16. Jim Great pics 37401 is looking good just a quick question about the Sinfin tanks i know they come from up near here at Grangemouth are the locos swapped or refuled halway? Thanks
  17. Jim 37421 is looking good there looks like a good job has been on it. I hada run on the Sleeper behind this loco in the early 00's as I remember It was in poor shape then and was withdrawn not too long after that! Great to see it have a new lease of life I think Colas will look after it better the EWS did hope to see any of the Colas 37 work up here in Scotland soon. Save
  18. Jim Some great Heritage traction there thanks for posting the pic with the 08 looks a very modellable scene Regards Dave
  19. Alan I have already ruled out the MOD traffic as I am fairly sure this was and still is if and when it still runs an out and back trip to and from Mossend I think maybe these types of wagon were used because they could be used for both types of traffic from Fort William. Dave
  20. All I am fairly up to speed with WHL freight from the past few decades but have a few questions which I hope somebody could answer firstly what was carried in the VBA/VAA/VGA vans which were used in the 80's there are many pictures in books and online but was this traffic from Corpach or Alcan? The same goes for the Cargowaggons which were used in the 90's and 00's In addition I have seen OBA wagons in some pictures and had always thought they were for timber traffic but then I seen a pic of them being shunted at Alcan and a further pic showing OBA's at Fort William depot and it is almost certainly metal products being carried. Thanks Dave
  21. All Here is what has been done so far the pics show Loch Tarbhit before and after i have added a new station building and one of the buildings from the Farish Brewery in this case it is being used as a warehouse for the local Disillery barrels are shipped here for onward transport by road, rail and sea. No trains as yet as I am in the process of trading in the locos and stock from my other layout and the funds will go towards suitable stock for Loch Tarbhit. Dave
  22. All Thought you would like to hear the plans for the layout firstly I will re-name it to Loch Tarbhit i have also come up with a backstory for Loch Tarbhit. The line runs from Glasgow to Loch Tarbhit via the West Highlands of Scotland a junction halfway up the line has a connection to Stirling Tarbhit and Balla-hula-alsh which is further round the loch are the main towns in this region sadly Dr Beeching put paid to the railway running to Ballahula-alsh (this is the line with no buffers stops near the station) The ferry to Ballamory still runs from here! There is however still a branch line this goes inland past a few mountians and then down to a land locked loch this branch is served by DMU's which connect with the Sleeper train and the loco-hauled trains from Glasgow and Stirling. At the moment the plan is to run the layout in the BR Blue era but only a slightly later era than you were modelling the 37/0's and MK1's are largely gone and 37/4's and MK2's are now the order of the day. The sleeper train is formed of the new MK3 coaches with a MK2f There is still a good deal of freight traffic there are three papermills in the area only one of which is rail-connected wagons with products for this industry such as china clay and timber are often seen in the yard as well as TTA's for the fueling point locos are regualary stabled and refueled here. Lastly due to rocky nature of the area there is a quary which loads ballast for this region and is taken as far as Stirling and Perth the quary is on the branch line. The locos I plan to run as follows, Class 20, 27, 37/0, 37/4 and 156 Regards Dave
  23. All Just to let you know I am now the new owner of Tarbhit and will be updating soon there will be some minor changes but the heart and soul of the Highlands and the spirit and atmosphere Mike created will remain Dave
  24. Mike Some wonderful modelling here look forward to seeing the building devlope also how about a banger blue class 20 (nose first)!!!! Regards Dave
