  1. Thanks, the product description says '21 Pin DCC socket' and the box says 'DCC'
  2. I'm going to ask a stupid question here, but I'm a DC modeller (I like the challenge of the isolations and wiring) and have only just twigged that these are DCC rather than DCC ready... Is this going to run without making alterations? It's probably obvious but I've managed to avoid any engagement with DCC over the years and might just have acquired an expensive ornament! And given that I'm a novice in this matter, bit reluctant to just whack some power through and see if it moves or fries...
  3. Looks like they’ve never been glued. Decent fit though so tiny dab of glue and all sorted.
  4. yes but if they had a lot yesterday who did bounce/refuse/have died... that would have freed up overnight stock, which has now gone again. So if anyone does miss out, the moral might be to keep your eyes open in the coming days.
  5. I'm a W - so unless they're going backwards... However, I did order within 5 minutes of the launch I think
  6. have you not had the dispatch email? I suppose there's only so many they can get out in a shift.
  7. Rails took my money yesterday and yesterday afternoon I got the 'dispatched' email...
  8. Kingmoor. It was Polmadie and Kingmoor pretty well all the way through.
  9. I’m pretty sure they’ve been clear all the way through (from the first announcement) that it’s traction tyres as standard with the option to not have them - across the Locomotion thread and this one there was a lot of chat at the time. Basically this way round is the way round it has always been anyway.
  10. Personally, and I'm already being spoilt with the forthcoming A5, but I'd love a GCR 1B/LNER L1/L3*. And they roamed more widely round the network than the A5s did. *as if it's not complicated enough, they were L1 but then Thompson built his L1s, so the Robinson L1s became L3s....
  11. Know the feeling but I’m starting to get back on top of it - the Clan’s come, so my pre-orders are just Lucknow, 5 LNWR Genesis, A5, and the Titfield Thunderbolt. Given the latter is 2023, hopefully it’ll all work out to the satisfaction of my bank manager….
  12. well you might, for example, want one called Cromwell and really like LMS red. I've been trying to crowbar a Clan onto the 1950s GCLE since the new model was announced and still never found any evidence of one, but what if they'd built the second batch and allocated them to the Southern Region, then one had found its way as far as Woodford, which SR locomotives occasionally did....? So I'll be renumbering 72004 as the unbuilt 72010 Hengist and crossing my fingers. I don't think that's any better or worse than someone wanting a particular Precedent for whatever reason, which means extending its life for a few years and putting it into a different livery to one it carried. Or just liking one livery over another.
  13. I'd have said 'non prototypical' rather than wrong - depends what you want to do...
  14. agree with all of that - the 'only three coaches' was a specific reference back to the N&L example. There is a station loop at Pitsford actually - much like Chinnor it's beyond the station, but it tends to get used for stock storage. At Chinnor the loop being beyond the station has allowed the railway to preserve the atmosphere of a sleepy Watlington branch station - something that I'm a bit worried is going to be swept away with the redevelopment and new footbridge... Still, as I think the thread's proving there's pretty well a prototype for anything!
  15. though made considerably easier when you've only got three carriages in service on the railway anyway... If the carriage with the viewing gangway goes u/s then you're not running trains (or have to top and tail).
  16. sorry, I was commenting that it's more like secret option 3 - 'all signalled up with one engine in steam, propelling, and nowhere to go'!
  17. it does and it isn't (as in the whole station isn't operational) - sometime next year with a bit of luck and fingers crossed. In fact, service trains are still not going south of Pitsford sidings to date. Unfortunately the loop is still the only one - ie there isn't one up at Merry Tom crossing, and nor is there one at Pitsford & Brampton, so I don't think propelling will be finishing any time soon. However.... the latest update from the in-house magazine is that when Boughton is open attention will turn back to getting north to Spratton, so eventually the lack of loop at P&B won't matter. But I'd say a good few years/decade in the future.
  18. Not necessarily- the Northampton and Lamport is OEIS with full (indeed potentially ludicrously so) signalling. 3 signal boxes in less than half a mile with no run round loops!
  19. Mine’s arrived from Derails - stunning model, complete with in situ top lamp bracket. Colour nothing like in some pictures. probably going to become Hengist, but sorely tempted to leave it be. before anyone thinks this is a paid for review, I’m still not convinced the green running plate is right (at least for early emblem), though have asked the question of the experts. But other than that, Best Buy this year. next week, with a bit of luck (not having to work) I’ll take it up to the club for a proper work-out
  20. I've bitten the bullet (as a member) and emailed the Clan project for their views.
