A funny thing happened on the way to the forum....don't titter missus.... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-Francis-Howard-Ltd-Silver-Drink-Decanter-Labels-Rum-Whisky-Sherry/313458041131?hash=item48fb8e212b:g:uPAAAOSwUNZgUdyE I must be getting old. Senile flashback moment with the name!

This is one that caught my eye today. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Two-4mm-L-amp-SWR-dropsided-2-plank-wagons-/254892399038?nma=true&si=nVK0bGlbzdQC75uWP1i04lLwhTg%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 A couple of Ratio 2-plank wagons from the PW set with some LSWR transfers. A couple of late bidders ramped the price up from about £12 in the last minute or so!

I think it was dipped in the same pot of bitumen as the wagon! (And why would you paint a photo very well? Seems a little pointless )

Well at least it looks vaguely passable after a few sherbets Better than this abomination....Nachtpost https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tri-ang-OO-Gauge-Royal-Mail-Coach-Painted/333913120447?hash=item4dbec5debf:g:-EUAAOSwQUFgO9tU

Some of the first kits my dad let me build. I think he's still got a couple stashed away

Funnily enough it appears to be the only listing in their Items for Sale which ISN'T 'Very Rare'! I'd hate to know how much the Rare version would be!

6' 9" Gauge in 4mm? I suppose if OO (16.5mm) is underscale it could be underscale GWR Broad Gauge. Alternatively somebody needs to explain how track gauge is measured......

A little cross threading, but relevant? In another thread a pet moan of one of the contributors was about the pictures, or the quality of, in many lots for sale. I know we can't all be David Bailey, but looking back through my recent purchases I realized how many 'bargains' I'd picked up from either poor pictures or poor descriptions. I like building wagons, either from unstarted kits or resurrecting from enthusiatic efforts, so essentially thats where my hunting is! Recently I've bought a couple of Ratio Open C's, one described just as a Kitbuilt Open wagon with a poor picture and a pair of Nu-Cast single Bolsters included, and another included in a lot of 3 wagons which pictured the other two wagons in the foreground and cut off 80% of the Open C in the background, total cost for 6 wagons was about £24. A few other mixed wagon lots which have included, amongst others, Nu-Cast, D&S, ABS models will keep me going for the next few months (years) either in construction of them, or repairing to a decent standard. Okay, there's been a few bits of dross in some lots, but I'll clean those up and chuck them back on to re-coup a few quid But, I for one, have been thankful for the sometimes limited skills shown in presentation and the reasonably low prices which have been paid to be able to continue my hobby on a budget (Although SWMBO might not agree.... :D)

Make your own loco stock boxes! (picture heavy)
Andy WD replied to plasticbasher's topic in Modifying & Detailing RTR stock
Bubble Wrap and EPS, (Expanded Polystyrene), will both leach oils from the original manufacturing process. This will attack some paint as it is generally petroleum based. (As the company I work for found out to our cost on 'Piano Finish' products!) It's probably also worth noting that, in our experience, even having a cotton layer between the paint and the packing, if using EPS, will not stop some marking taking place at pressure points Silk or muslin should be fairly neutral if undyed. I use an undyed cotton cloth which so far has worked without any adverse effect. -
Well there does seem to be a certain European feel to the cabin, and is that a shade of Feldgrau he's in....

Looks like Mr.Energizer got fed up listing individual items! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JOB-LOT-MIXED-FINE-SCALE-PRE-ASSEMBLED-SELECTION-OF-STEAM-LOCOMOTIVES/124584243685?hash=item1d01ccb1e5:g:SBAAAOSwBCdgMXIl Should have used Bunny Power

So I'm trying to figure these out? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TWO-Vintage-Locos-Bachmann-30850-Good-Runner-LYNTON-No-Power-REPAIRS/224337077512?hash=item343b882508:g:LNgAAOSwoP1gGTWo And I'm confused by this one! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VINTAGE-Wrenn-4-6-2-Locomotive-Green-Livery-Missing-Rear-Axle-Wheels-OO-TESTED/224337093874?hash=item343b8864f2:g:KecAAOSwsxxgGTxt

At least you have the sense to stop when you know it's not going your way. Some of the prices recently suggest people have gambling fever! Latest good buy for me, because I'm lazy, a Bachmann 'nissian hut' (sic) for a fiver + postage. Saves me building the Ratio ones I have for now

Well it is clarified in this lot how many it is. I don't think they understand the concept of 'joblot' though! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OO-JOBLOT-OF-ONE-WAGON/224305655194?hash=item3439a8ad9a:g:6ycAAOSwusBf9H12

I know the War Department had some strange ideas, and weren't adverse to cobbling things up, but even so.... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KIT-BUILT-WAR-DEPT-MOD-LOCOMOTIVES-0-6-0-AND-0-4-0-ALL-GOOD-RUNNERS/363224492021?hash=item5491dde7f5:g:Fr0AAOSw2ZhfyNDV

Locomotive 'open cab' canvas weather covers
Andy WD replied to greggieboy's topic in Modelling Questions, Help and Tips
Nobody has mentioned trying the resin cast sets of stowage used by armour modellers. May be something of use there? They often have rolled tarps in them and other useful parts -
I don't think that was a big nail, more a stake through the heart!

Methinks something's not right https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-BR-Class-90-Bo-Bo-90135-Era-8-OO-Gauge-Train/174089973804
