  1. And that's it. Today after school I saw 66755 on Station Rd with the aggregates train. I'm very happy about it! I might see it tomorrow too if it runs
  2. ...Spoke too soon? Still runs, and it's quieter and smoother? Well to err- celebrate? I've made the front plow fixed and added screw links. pipes pinged off last time I got tge body off so I'll get the Hornby detail pack when I can.
  3. I give up Don't have a soldering iron and even if I did it's not like I can resolder it because it's near on impossible to get the body off (last time I managed to get it off it came of with such force that parts went flying everywhere and I had to clip the motor and shafts back in) 65 quid wasted
  4. Bought some 'professionally' weathered TTAs on eBay. the one in the more accurate livery looked alright but I think I might repaint the shell one! fictional EWS livery maybe? always liked the white and grey. Also bought a Hornby card kit of a goods shed mostly out of curiosity, I can't find any info about Hornby making card kits online. Knew they used to make a lot of 'town and country' plastic kits but I'll just have to wait to see the quality of the kit.
  5. Photo from a while ago of the J83 chassis. It wasn't advertised as DCC and obviously I have no way to check if it is DCC so if anyone can identify what it is thanks
  6. Yeah I've been planning to swap them out for a while I just haven't got round to it
  7. I don't know what it is but everytime I point out a flaw with one of my locos on here, said flaw just magically dissapears! That J83 has ran like rubbish for god knows how long but tonight it ran perfectly
  8. This one's a rubbish runner. I think it might have a chip in it
  9. Some attempts at weathering with just paint I did on new year's day. Had no brown paint so I mixed various coloured pencil ground up with water Wagon 1: Wagon 2:
  10. I hope so too, and it probably won't be accurate by any means but it'll still be a nice novelty
  11. Strangely enough if I flip the loco round it runs fine. Similar to what happened with my smaller steam locos, ran rubbish in one direction, yet is fine the other
  12. No points on the 'layout' at the moment, and no matter where it is it short circuits.
  13. Well the Lima skip arrived and it's lovely, and it was a smooth runner but now whenever I try to run it, it short circuits! lovely.
  14. I've seen a cheap Hornby ex-mainline 56 on eBay, and I quite like the look of the 69... I'll need a 66 for the roof but I think it would be nice to make the first class 69 in OO!
  15. One thing I've noticed after studying many photos and videos is that whenever a 67 is pulling freight, it's always a short rake, which of course makes sense and it suits me very much. On the subject at freight I've been thinking of older style wagons that I could pass off as 'modern' I think most plank wagons are out of the question (emphasis on most) but in one photo of a 67, you could only see the first wagon of the train and it just looked like a bogie bolster wagon. I have seen other EWS flat wagons but they look a fair bit more modern. Of course a very cheap way to get 'modern' wagons is the Hornby TTAs, just paint them black and there you go.
  16. well, something I guess you've just got to get used to while modelling modern image I assume
  17. I'm just glad I've finally got some more modern locos, and now I have an excuse for a 92 to be doing the rounds on my layout- being dragged by a 67! I know the 67s weren't really made for freight, but I'd still like to bash some some modern image style open wagons, inspired by the MHAs, though of course I'll try and get some lima RES parcel vans for it to pull, I'm quite a fan of parcel and mail trains, so the 67s perfect for me
  18. Just bought a Lima skip for 65 quid on eBay. Maybe slightly over budget.. but oh well!Has all the detail parts unopened which I'm sure will be a pain to put on
  19. Well I'm off down Ashby de la zouch again tomorrow, but other than that: It's quite a shame that there is no way (at least to my knowledge) to view the other side of the station, and photos of Ashby de la zouch station seem to be quite scarce, with the majority being the view from Station road. I have seen a few photos of the station from the other side however I do wonder if anyone has or knows where I can find more modern photos of the station, besides the view from station road. I also wonder if anyone knows the current state of the station. The building itself is obviously in good condition, inside and out, though I do wonder what the state of the platform(/platforms?) are, I'd always assumed they were demolished, but google satellite images don't really tell much. Any help appreciated. Thanks
  20. Working on making the jinty more unique. Removed numberplate, did up the bufferbeam and I've removed the decals since the plan is to do it up red, crest on the tanks and an etched numberplate plate on the bunker. Heavily inspired by this old Hornby pannier from 1993 I think. Though I suppose it'll look more like the budgie railway engine!
