The R2441 body is the closest paint job for 1980 that is loco driven, I don't really want to risk paying another£85+ to risk a suitable tender driven body, incase it does not fit.

I have picked up Hornby R2441 NRM Flying Scotsman, and I want to take it back to 1980, so I have removed the smoke deflectors, but now I want to convert it from double chimney to a single one. The double one was a seperate part and that has popped out, and now I am looking for options for making into a single. My thinking is to pick up a white metal chimney and shape and bend some plastic sheet to fill the hole. Does anyone have any other ideas?

FYI, Nigel, there are Dapol files out there, but they are never selected for the release build, which is not down to the volunteers. I wrote and uploaded a file for the Imperium 4 last year, and that never appeared to get anywhere. There is now one doing the rounds created by Stanley@Lais in 2016 and is now on version seven, you have to ask, why it has taken so long to be considered "worthy" of making it into an actual build? That is the point I am making and while I am not out to make friends, I was in no way accusing volunteers of anything, so why are you taking offence at something you have imagined?

Is this some kind of brand snobbery going on with JMRI? This range of decoders is now over three years old, and there is still no support for them??

My project is this set from the 1980 Rocket 150 event at Rainhill. I have started by picking up a set of Bachmann 38-627 FGAs. The Freightliner was easy, from C-Rail. I have also picked up 3 30 foot kits from them to make the Royal Mail and CNC containers, but I'm not sure how to cut the Royal Mail one down 8'... I have also picked up a Hornby R6425, which has two 30' smooth sided containers, which I will need to cut one down to 20' for the OCL container. That's the plan, but it is still on the to-do list for now.
