  1. The buffer beam and half the cab has snapped off this and been badly glued on. No mention in the description other than "study the photos, they form part of the description" nonsense. Also this finished to a high standard has paint flaking off the window frames... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/115450407076
  2. Buyer madness... You can buy it brand new for£167 including postage and warranty. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/255611120261
  3. I'm having trouble finding caustic soda flakes. Amazon do not appear to do any caustic soda, instead giving me pages of baking soda results. Even using the word "lye" only produces a sodium Bicarbonate flake result, which is again baking soda... eBay is giving better results, but no-one uses the word "flake" in their product description, so it will be a punt. I have previously used Strip magic, which is useless, and I would not recommend, as it melts plastic. So Some Oven cleaner and the Caustic/water/meths mix on order. If they fail, I will give DOT4 a go.
  4. Was the warping of the roofs present before the paint removal?
  5. I just replaced them... £17 a set https://Bachmann-spares.co.uk/category/1-branchline-diesel-parts/class08
  6. They make it sound like it was sculpted by gods and painted by angels... In my eye, there are a few ill fitting seams and the amount of paint on the front buffer is unreal! Sure the lining is top draw, but still not worth the money... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DJH-kit-built-Merchant-Navy-Class-LOCO-4-6-2-Portescap-RG4-motor-Goddard-painted-/115399032411

  8. Good Morning all, I am looking to make modifications to a Bachmann 08, and one of the tiny details is that the lamp irons are wrong. For starters, i don't even know what this "weavy" shape would be, or if I can get hold of some etched brass ones in 00 gauge? Can anyone give me a name?
  9. Indeed/ He has asked for a photo of the other side, which I have supplied a "meh" one, and I am looking for others, but pickings are slim.
  10. One of his other items.... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/363741934296?hash=item54b0b572d8:g:YTUAAOSwtmliF0sm
  11. When you put your middle name and your wife's middle name in the contact details, you know you are dealing with someone a tad unusual...
  12. I mean.... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/134099722952?hash=item1f38f762c8%3Ag%3AABkAAOSwjXxgGZvt&LH_BIN=1
  13. I can get a whole A4 for less than this. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/303993649423?hash=item46c76ef90f:g:rssAAOSwJZpgmmkM
  14. I want a kit for this coach. According to The NRM (here https://collection.sciencemuseumgroup.org.uk/objects/co205888/east-coast-joint-stock-passenger-brake-van-railway-carriage) it claims that it is to diagram 38. I am seeking confirmation before I try to back order a kit from Mousa Models, but I cannot find a copy of diagram 38 to confirm this. Can anyone kindly help?
  15. I can't find the RRP for a 7F, but surely this is getting out of hand? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/275262072943
  16. I have just upgraded my Ringfield motor to a CD motor, now I want you to give me £10 for the scrap I have left over. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/234502714643?hash=item3699737513:g:oXcAAOSwW09iUoai
  17. Having not sold the first time, they are being more realistic and only asking for £95 now... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154913028506?hash=item241189399a:g:9zMAAOSwf8xiOwhI
  18. I've had this scotsman on my workbench for months, as I cannot find a suitable 5-pole motor for it. It comes with a 3-pole X6331, but I want to bring the smooth!
  19. That is what Bachmann do.
  20. It is the Welshpool & llanfair "Earl" loco by Golden Arrow Productions. It requires 10.5mm 8-spoke wheels.
  21. If you sell a Loco on eBay, you are a mug. Do what Mike does, and break them for parts! I think he has a whole Class 40 in bits here. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_ssn=mr_mike121&store_name=mikeslocos&_dmd=2&_oac=1&_trksid=p2047675.m3561.l2562
  22. Since 009 is basically 4mm narrow gauge, the wheels are OO gauge. The kit identifies the wheels to purchase, but says nothing about the axles.
  23. I am really struggling with this. I have purchased an 009 gauge kit that needs wheels and axles. Now the wheels are just standard 4mm stock, but I don't see any suppliers of suitable axles, which must be unique for the 4mm scale. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
  24. I think they are all a bit meaningless in the modern world, as most models are now made on limited runs and once they are gone, they are gone. Only the very big names tend to do ongoing production. The interesting one for me is the Special edition, as Hornby tend to do the opposite, they release a new tooling and then rebrand the old tooling as a budget option, yet then never really bang on about "special edition!!!" which is refreshing.
  25. I get them on ebay for £3 a 17ml pot inc postage. I've never bought a set, I just get what I need. but sets are better value. I like getting empty bottles, to mix colours I use a lot of.
