  1. Exacto are not what they used to be,i boought one of these, Zona SA35/050 35-050 52tpi Razor Saw from Amazon. Super sharp. Ray.
  2. Moving along, can anyone let me know which lamp irons are suitable for this loco?.On my Fairburn loco,i used LG LMS cast brass lamp irons,i wondered if these would be suitable for the WD.
  3. Todays progress on the WD tender.I`m getting to the stage of using my GW rivet embosser.I take it that i emboss the rivets after locating the half etched dimples and embossing from the back, would i be correct in this?. Ray
  4. I`m a convert to 0 gauge from 00 vintage railways.I now find it easier to sit at a bench and build locos, this is a photo of my first loco kit,a DJH Fairburn tank loco.An update on the theme of starting with 0 gauge, the build of the tender so far on my Roxey mouldings WD 2-8-0 kit. Ray.
  5. A bit of useless information, a"comedian"a few years ago won the best joke in the world, pity that the following day,R4xtra broadcast a round the Horne episode from 1967 containing the very joke told by Kenneth Horne. It just goes to show that there's not a lot new in the world!. Ray.
  6. You could enlarge the but you might lose detail due to the resolution that you scan or print at,the cards i put on here are at 300dpi and print out at actual size.It might be worth experimenting.Postcards are useful for printing out one card or a white card at about 120gsm.The one i`m woring on now and again is this Turbomotive, this will print out on an A4 sheet, give it a go,you may be pleasantly suprised. Ray
  7. Playcraft produced a very nice red brick loco shed very similar to the HD model,i have one in my collection. They also made a very good girder bridge based on the GC one at Rugby. Ray.
  8. Perhaps the last on this subject for a while,a Schools class loco i built a while ago. Ray.
  9. If it`s 5 minute epoxey such as Araldite rapid,it can be softened by heat,a soldering iron set to low melt solder temperature may help. Ray.
  10. Update on the Roxey WD 2-8-0.I need a bit of help on the tender chassis.I`m trying to identify the brake cylinder casting and the pull rods which attach to the brake shaft. Here`s a couple of pics on progress so far. Ray.
  11. There is a kit of the Festival of Britain buildings but it was only issued in a black and white print. Ray.
  12. This could keep you busy. Ray.
  13. Just for you to print out and build!
  14. Just as a matter of interest.it wasn`t only railway models that Micromodels produced,Ships as well as well as aircraft. Ray.
  15. I have most of the series downloaded to my pc.3 /- was quite a lot of money in those far off days, also,if you made a mistake, you had to buy another pack and start again.Today with printers and scanners,it`s far easier to copy the originals and build from there. We haqve come a long way since days. They wern`t the only ones,Modelcraft issued quite a few as well.Over the years, the colours of the originals has sometimes faded but with the magic of photoshop, colour can be restored.Printit a give it a try,the results can be quite satisfying. Ray
  16. Want some track to place them on?. Ray.
  17. Latest reply from my friend in the USA, "The Trix/Lilliput motor does not have a fastening lug at the bottom and this installation looks like there is a wooden shim or spacer at the back to position the motor. The other giveaway is the position of the screw that anchors the brush tension spring. So I'm pretty sure it is an X04. Here is a pic of the wimpy Trix 5-pole for comparison. They had to introduce the two motor variant just to get enough power to pull a decent train!!" Ray
  18. I asked my very knowedgeable friends on the Trix Face book page and i quote, "Well yes, it's an AL1 power bogie. They're not very powerful it's a useless Liliput 5 pole motor that generate almost no power. I suppose you could argue they're "collectible" because once you've got one you can't get rid of it." He runs the Trix museum so the conudrum appears to be solved,i`ve worked on a few of these locos and i`ve never seen one of these. Ray.
  19. It appears to be mounted in a Triang TC diesel bogie casting, weird!. Ray.
  20. It's a Triang Hornby R753,not Trix I'm afraid.
  21. This had to be an absolute bargain from Hattons,Dublo 2 rail EMU pristine apart from a pair of perished traction tyres.New Marklin tyres and a drop of oil and away it went,i don`t think it had been run that much if at all.If anyone can decipher the address on the box,i`d be interested,it may be Iceland or Auckland, course it could just up the road.Anyway, here`s the photos. Ray.
  22. Yes,it is Jim Snowdon,i`m in regular contact with him through Facebook. It`s certainly not a beginners model!. Ray.
  23. Progress on the WD tender, only one spring pinged into the black hole of the carpet, now onto the brakes. Ray.
  24. I used modern Hornby coach wheels with Peco brass bearings superglued into the bogie frames, very useful as i then fitted n/s p/ups to improve the return current.Back to Triang, here`s a video of my EM2 running under the wires. As an aside, the wire is 1mm piano wire prebent for curves. Ray.
