  1. Indeed they did and here's a picture of a class 205 at Bristol TM in 1976. https://www.flickr.com/photos/robertcwp/5250165526/in/album-72157603648710190/ Also a 6-car formation https://www.flickr.com/photos/robertcwp/4846399787/in/album-72157603648710190/
  2. Have a look at this - http://www.tenforums.com/general-support/22132-windows-not-shut-down-properly-but-i-did-shut-down-properly.html
  3. OK - perhaps try another test. Shut down the PC as you normally do, but instead of then powering it off at the plug, reboot it. Does it reboot or appear to resume from sleep or hibernate? If it reboots, then what does Perfmon say?
  4. I wonder if you've got your power button configured on this errant PC to enter sleep mode or hibernate, rather than shut down. Control Panel -> power options -> choose what the power buttons do.

Indeed - given that the RRP of a Bachmann 2EPB is now £200+ he's certainly wasted a lot of money. Perhaps it will appeal to those modellers who have a couple of spare blue bodies from when Bachmann produced them with the wrong numbers and handed out free replacements.

  7. You can optionally stop W10 from automatically updating drivers - see http://winsupersite.com/windows-10/stop-automatic-driver-updates-windows-10 Also see http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_update/how-to-block-automatic-reinstall-of-a-driver-or/bff07224-4ce2-4b42-ab29-68c3a305d730?auth=1
  8. All you need to do is to turn off the default apps you don't want and also unpin them from the start menu. Uninstalling them just saves a bit of space on your system disk.
  9. The price of the mole is $12.95 in the US. Import one to the UK you need to add 20% VAT which makes a total of $15.54 - about £11. Plus you have to assemble it yourself, I believe, and there are no internal switches for frog polarity etc. Tortoises can be bought for around £12.50 in the UK if purchased in packs of 6 or 12. Both Alan and I are running automation with RR&Co. In this environment reliability is paramount, as the software is changing turnouts and won't know if one failed. I'm quite happy to spend a little more to get the most reliable point motor, which is why I went for Tortoises. More than 70 in use for nearly 4 years and not a single failure.
  10. Your ISP retains copies of all your emails and a log of every website you visit. Websites record your browsing history and use that to target you with adverts. Your phone company keeps a log of every number you call. And if you decide to switch off your electronic devices and go for a walk around town, CCTV cameras will record your every move. So I consider Windows collecting anonymous usage stats is insignificant in this context.

Same seller who in an earlier post on this thread was asking £600 for a Bachmann V2. Still is - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bachmann-BRANCH-LINE-OO-GAUGE-LOCOMOTIVE-MODEL-LNER-TENDER-LOCO-V2-2-6-2-/272184245921?hash=item3f5f71fea1:g:QOcAAOSwuAVW00ws
  14. Here's a picture of one with Bulleid coaches in tow - https://www.flickr.com/photos/robertcwp/6770232205/in/album-72157603648772112/ And another with MK1s - https://www.flickr.com/photos/robertcwp/4790764139/in/album-72157603648772112/ My vote would be for Bulleids perhaps?
  15. It only collects usage statistics ("metrics") none of which contain any personal information.
  16. Have you tried going here - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 . You can download a copy of W10 to put on a Flash drive or ISO - scroll down to "download tool now". You do need to do so with an account that has administrator rights. Edge is integrated into W10 and I don't believe there's a separate download for it.
  17. If you've upgraded to Windows 10 then you have a permanent licence for that PC (if the PC was bought with Windows pre-installed) or for any PC (if you bought a separate full licence, or upgraded from a W7 full license) - in the latter case it's only one PC at a time (so you can do a hardware upgrade if you want). You can re-install any time you like - just download it from here - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 Don't understand what you mean by Edge having disappeared. Go to start, all apps and scroll down to Microsoft Edge. If you've lost the task bar short-cut then right-click on that, then "more" and then "pin to task bar".
  18. Going back further to when I was trainspotting as a lad in the late 1950s, everything that moved was steam. And as a result of the Midland's "small engine policy", every train over 8 coaches was double-headed. Those were the days!
  19. Alan - it might be calling A&H Models as they are a main dealer of Roco products including the Z21 and hence could answer your question. http://www.aandhmodels.co.uk/ . Technically they're very good. I'm sure the way the Lenz works is that the feature is in the command station. I've now set up the LZV100 in that way, so that now when a short occurs the internal LV102 drops power and the LED on the LZV100 flashes quickly. But the command station is still live so I can change points etc. As soon as the short is resolved, operation is restored.
  20. On my Lenz LZV100 this action is the default, but you can turn it off via CV. I would expect a similar arrangement exists within the Z21: I assume one booster is telling the Z21 it has a short, and the Z21 then turns everyone else off. So it will be a Z21 option you need to change.
  21. To have function control of direction-dependent headcodes (white vs. red blinds) and control of internal lighting from a single DCC decoder requires a 3-pole coupling connector which Bachmann have never produced. Not a problem for the MLV as it has no interior lighting needing control. On the Thumper the interior lighting works off the same function as the headcodes, but you have an on-off switch on the coach undersides so that you can choose to run with just headcodes illuminated. The 4CEPs have two functions - one for headcodes and one for interior lights but the headcodes are not direction-dependent. I have a blue 2EPB with white blinds at one end and red at the other but they don't change with direction. I suspect it was Bachmann's intention to do so as there seems to be wiring for it. When my 2EPBs change direction the lights blink and the headcodes dim slightly at one end. But I suspect it might cause a manufacturing problem for Bachmann as green EMUs didn't have red blinds till much later. White blinds and a trusty oil lamp were used.
  22. I was lucky enough as a 13-year old to travel on one them when they were brand-new and just coming into service. I remember it was winter time and quite cold, but the 2H was nice and warm with smell of fresh paint and varnish a distinct memory. The trip was from Salisbury to Eastleigh for a bit of trainspotting with an older cousin. The trip back was a T9 and Bulleid coaches, so a completely different experience of sitting in steam-heated coaches. Those were the days!
  23. When the 2-EPB first came out it, was in original green only. With the 2-HAP you already have 3 versions from day 1. Presumably further variations will depend on sales figures ....
  24. Next Monday (March 7th) there's a 30-minute program called "Return of the Flying Scotsman" on BBC4.
