  1. Works OK for me but them I'm on Release Preview version. I believe the roll-out of this function is being staged as it's still only a preview version. Go to start -> settings -> personalization -> taskbar. Is it listed under taskbar items?
  2. Very useful posting as it actually gives a description of the Newhaven boat train formation - 9 coaches, 1 Pullman and two vans.
  3. My 3 systems have been on Release Preview so I've had 23H2 on them for several weeks now. Absolutely no problems at all - very stable release I'm pleased to say. I even have it now on my 11-year-old laptop that has neither TPM nor a compatible processor and it runs well too.
  4. Indeed they did and here's one such photo from the Mike Morant website. No 4-disk headcode by this time - just 08 and a couple of lamps. -
  5. Yes the CPU requirement can be bypassed quite easily. In fact MS themselves provide an "official" means to do this. Have a look at this article and skip down to the section "How to Bypass Windows 11 TPM the Official Microsoft Way". Then you should be able to upgrade to Windows 11. Download Windows 11 as an ISO file and then double-click on it which will cause it to be mounted as a virtual DVD. Then click on the "setup" file and away you go. When you've finished "eject" the DVD. Many people are running W11 on unsupported devices, some of which are considerably less supported than yours! As to whether it's worth it, only time will tell. You can always go back to W10 at any time. With the wife's 8-year-old PC, which she only very lightly uses, I decided I didn't want to have to support W10 and W11, so replaced MB, CPU and RAM, and also installed a 256Gb NVMe SSD. Made a big difference performance-wise, and sold her old MB on Ebay too so only cost me around £150.
  6. Wild weather on the Dawlish Youtube cam tonight ....
  7. MS will have your motherboard id recorded on its servers and will not be aware it's been running Linux. So you should have no problem re-installing W10 and then upgrading to W11.
  8. Sometimes the roll-out of new function like this is staggered by MS so there's reduced risk of a lot of people having problems at the same time.
  9. Very pleased to see these available and have ordered a 20002 in black as it's the same era as my diesel 10203. Do these new models have similar options for customising disc head codes as do the diesels?
  10. 23H2 is now available. It's just an enablement package, as all the new stuff is in the latest 22H2 cumulative update but turned off. The package just flicks a switch or two and then you have to reboot. It should come any time now via WU, but if you want it now the package can be downloaded from the Windows 11 Forum website. Once downloaded, just double-click it and run. It only takes a few seconds as I've just run it on my laptop that's not on Insider Preview so wasn't able to take it early.
  11. Go into Device Manager and select "security devices". It will tell you there whether TPM is enabled or not, eg A while ago when I updated the BIOS on my system, it reverted to the default of TPM not being enabled.
  12. KB5026372 is a cumulative update to 22H2 so it would seem it's not valid for your system that's on 21H2. Have you tried going here and using the download assistant to update your system to 22H2? EDIT: see also here for more information on how to update to 22H2.
  13. I'm not a club member but have an account with Bachmann as I've bought spares a couple of times. I got the newsletter today although I had to retrieve it from my junk mail folder.

Just to close this off, I returned the loco to Rails. They tested it and found the same issue so sent me a replacement withing 24 hours that works absolutely fine.
  15. Hi Dave - great pictures as ever. J486 and J487 can't be 45532 as that's a rebuilt Patriot. Looks like it might be 45232.
  16. Iain – seems to me you’re still focussing on this issue as though it’s one of performance caused by the voltage drop. It isn’t, it’s about ensuring reliable and precise detection when trains traverse from unmonitored sections (eg turnouts) to monitored ones. The sensors we’re talking about here - DR4088CS, LDT RS8s and the YaMoRC ones - all use voltage drop to detect occupancy. If the unmonitored sections are connected direct to the bus, and therefore are at full voltage, any loco with multi-wheel pickup will “short out” the voltage drop as it crosses the join. As Keith (Melmerby) and I have already pointed out, this caused actual problems with accurate stopping whereby the sensor only comes on when all the loco’s pickup wheels have crossed the gap. So I decided to ask the question about the YaMoRC ones and whether any action was needed. I got this response below from Karst Drenth. As you can see, he recommends the same usage of 4 diodes as do LDT, albeit with different diodes for the different voltage drop. It’s easy enough to reproduce. Take a diesel/electric loco with pickups on both bogies, and place on the track with one bogie in the unmonitored section and the other in the monitored. The sensor for the monitored section does not always come on. Tried it myself today having swapped a wire over, and it happens every time.
  17. Had exactly the same problem with RS8s. I was able to demonstrate it easily using a Bachmann 4CEP 4-car EMU unit whose motor coach has pickups on all 4 axles. Running it slowly into the carriage shed. it was clear the shed road sensor would not turn on till all 4 axles of the coach had entered the road. Hence it overran the stop marker, of course, by exactly one coach length. The RS8s use a voltage drop of 1.5v which is quite significant. I created a small bus under the turnouts fed from the DCC bus through a set of 4 diodes as specified in the Littfinski document attached, and took all feeds to the turnouts and frog switches from that. From then on, problems with overrunning ceased. Now that I have converted to Dijikeijs DR4088xx units I've replaced the diode feed with a feed from a spare port, as these units came with 16 ports so I had a few spare. page_497.pdf
  18. Actually it's less than that now - it's free!
  19. Don't know what the differences are between the 21 and 22, but instruction sheets for both can be downloaded from https://www.Dapol.co.uk/pages/oo-gauge-Dapol-technical. The 22 seems more comprehensive than the 21.
  20. Tried to download the instruction sheet from Dapol for the D1 but found the URL just refreshed the index page. Sent an email to Dapol about this and later in the day got a reply saying they had corrected it. Instruction sheets for all Dapol's OO locos, now including the D1, can be downloaded from https://www.Dapol.co.uk/pages/oo-gauge-Dapol-technical .

Have thoroughly checked that and all 4 plungers seem to be fine. When the problem occurs, all the lights - front/rear headocdes and cab lights - go on and off together so it looks like some sort of feed issue. Will be talking to Rails in the morning.
