Has anyone else had an issue reseating the cab property after removing the cab interior for painting? There is about a 1mm gap round between the bottom of the cab and the footplate whatever I do - most annoying! Thanks in advance to anyone who can assist
  3. Hi - any ideas who the organisers are - wonder if they would be interested in my Bedford St Giles layout?
  4. DCC'd my Railbus tonight, had the seemingly common issue of the horns flying when prised from the roof. Managed to find one, no sign of the other; does anyone know if replacements are available please. Thanks in advance
  5. Like so many others on here, its music as one of my other hobbies. Have been playing 2nd cornet for Lea Hall Brass Band (formerly Rugeley Power station) for 16 years now. Great fun, been all over the country as well as trips to Europe and played in so many places I never thought I would go. Aside from banding and railways, I follow Hednesford Town - proper football where you can still stand up on the terraces and have a drink!
  6. Looks good and the full depth grey doors do not detract too much from the original livery.
  7. Fully agree with the ticket check comments. The number of times I have caught a train from Hednesford to New Street and back and never had my ticket checked. People getting on/off at a lot of the intermediate stations are aware of this and get their trips for free - unfair and mildly frustrating.
  8. Does anyone know if transfers are produced for the 2 Kettering to Corby blue and grey class 122's that ran for a while please.
  9. 71's for £100 - really wish I could have found time to get to Warley!
  10. This reminds me of when I used to travel home on the Cobbler MK1 set from Euston to Bletchley in the early 80's. I used to take my bike in the guards van and cycle to/from Holborn as it was quicker than the tube or bus. One night the Cobbler failed at Leighton, so I cycled back to Bletchley, getting home before other family members who were stuck on the train waiting for the delay to be sorted out!
  11. Is it possible to place an order if you don't get an email?
  12. There are some great photos of the Cross in the latest edition of Steam Railway, including the hotel curve platform.
  13. Such sad news. Used to nip into the Kings Cross shop a couple of times each week on my way home from Holborn to Bletchley to pick up bits and bobs for my modelling work. Bless everyone who has suffered a loss with this news, it was a wonderful era - never to be forgotten.

Could you please put me down for a pack - thank you
  15. Thanks for scanning this, great memories of years gone bye. Tracking down shunters by maps and trains which passed them. Old Bletchley depot info especially useful, thanks for posting.
  16. Hi, hopefully I have posted this in the right place - apologies in advance if I have not... I recently purchased one of the excellent Replica Railways powered chassis to go under my Hornby class 110 which I have converted to a class 104. I have done the necessary work on the chassis plate to fit the chassis under power car, but am looking for ideas regarding the seating as it now sits far too high inside the body. What have other people done to put seating inside a coach fitted with one of these chassis. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out!
  17. Super exhibition, well done to all involved. Good variety of layouts and traders.
  18. Spent a couple of hours finishing off the layout this morning, sorting out the point control rods, fitting the automatic uncouplers and completing the cassette storage units for the fiddle yard. Apart from a few small details jobs I want to do, I am pretty well there with Bedford St Giles - now to enjoy using it Wooden knitting needles used as control rods for the automatic uncouplers One of the automatic uncouplers fitted in position Point control rods colour coded to make their use easier and avoid changing the wrong ones! Testing one of the cassette units made from plastic trunking The connection between the cassette units and the layout - simple, but it works!
  19. After far too long, finally managed to squeeze in a running session on the layout yesterday. Here are a few photos.
  20. I had a similar incident at St Pancras one Saturday afternoon on a class 127 when I was about 8. That cab ride from St Pancras to Mill Hill Broadway will forever be in my memory - happy day
  21. Well work has been progressing to finish the layout. I have built 4 cassettes for the fiddle yard. These are based on Wickes gas pipe trunking with a length of code 100 track inside. They are soldered to copper clad sleepers at each end. Brass pins form the connections to the main layout. Having taken a while to get everything exactly lined up, they work a treat! Just need some exhition bookings now

Think it was D3052 - was allocated 08039, but not sure if it carried that number in black.
  23. There is talk locally of proposals to build a gas fired station on the site of the existing Rugeley power station if/when it finally closes.
