  1. I was fortunate to ride the single decker back in August 2015 as part of the Herne Bay event - here its is posed for a quick photo stop at Reculver And here is the upper deck interior of GJG739D on the same day - the upholstery had just recently been refurbished
  2. Using frames, fuel tanks and bogies (although obviously not the latter in this pic) from withdrawn 442 class ALCos, along with refurbished General Electric generators and components recovered from withdrawn Conrail C30-7 locomotives, are the GL class. 12 were created by A Goninan in 2003/2004 for loco leasing specialist CFCL Australia - GL105 was at Goulburn, New South Wales, on 7 June 2012..
  3. Earlier this year SCT Logistics commenced running services on the Melbourne-Brisbane corridor in competition with rivals Pacific National and Aurizon. Southbound 2BM9 behind SCT015/SCT012/016 passing the wind farm at Cullerin, New South Wales in hazy sun on Tuesday 4 April 2017.
  4. The impressive signal gantry at Cootamundra, New South Wales, seen on 2 February 2007 - it was decommissioned in October that year.
  5. RT2608, allocated to Harrow Weald garage, had only three months left in service when seen in Station Road, Hayes on 26 February 1977. It was placed into store in May and disposed of to Wombwell Diesels in June. Route 140 continued with RT operation until July the following year - observant viewers might twig why I was at Hayes and Harlington on this day? Kingston bus station/garage on 7 May 1977. The RFs survived on the 218/219 until March 1979.
  6. Already 30 years old Class 455/8 455822 slows for the stop at Kingswood with a Tattenham Corner bound service on 7 December 2013 455806 arriving at Sutton off the Epsom Downs branch - 28 April 2012
  7. Some images taken at the third Bus of Yesteryear Rally held at the Somers Town goods yard, St Pancras on 21 May 1972, organised by the London Bus Preservation Group. Maidstone & District Leyland Titan PD2 NKT896 - in 2016 it was still doing the rally circuit as far as I could make out. East Kent EFN1982 was a 1950 built Guy Arab with Park Royal bodywork that from what I can gather last saw active service in 1966 - from limited information on the internet and lack of recent images I would suggest it is stored somewhere awaiting restoration? RLH23 has spent well over three more times longer in preservation than it did in active service.
  8. 4-CIG 7307 heads a Victoria to Littlehampton via Mitcham and Horsham service, near Cheam sometime in 1977 Headcode 53 suggests a Gillingham via Lewisham and Sidcup service, waiting to depart London's Cannon Street terminus with 2-EPB (Class 416/2) no.5738 leading - sometime in the summer of 1977.
  9. An Alexander bodied AEC Swift SMA5 on Green Line route 726 leaving West Croydon bus station sometime in mid-1977. At the beginning of 1977 there were only around 25 RF single-deckers left in use with London Country. RF221 would go on to be the second last in service, final succumbing in September 1978. Early in 1977 I grabbed a shot of it in Carshalton Road, Sutton, deputising for one of the more regular Swift Alexanders that were captive on routes 725/6.
  10. Metre-gauge East German Railways 0-4-4-0T Mallet, 99 5902 rests in between duties at Alexisbad on 4 August 1977. Rail - but with at least one other form of transport
  11. First three wagons of this train - 27 February 2005, QJs 2-10-2s 7030 and 6850 combine to lift a westbound freight near Yuzhodi on the JiTong line. There were only two daylight working over the Jinpeng Pass this day and steam on this section had only four weeks to go.
  12. Clapham Jct - May 1983 A 12-car formation comprising 3 x 4-car EMUs led by 4-VEP 7770 arrives at Sutton with a Victoria to Bognor Regis service. Used to love the little bit of luxury provided by the hourly Bognor services for the short 21 minute non-stop journey to Sutton - sometime in 1977
  13. The only real DMU I saw on the Newcastle-Carlisle line on this particular day (all the rest were 'Pacers') and it failed, turning up behind coal sector (nuclear fuels sub sector) 31120 - Haltwhistle March 1989
  14. The two pics posted earlier were the only two decent shots I got of East Kent buses at work. It was over 40 years later before I got another chance to photograph them, obviously by now in preservation. Regent Vs at the Herne Bay - 9 August 2015.
  15. Yes tidied up a bit these days. Having seen a 4MT tank on the Kenny Belle c1966, ridden Q stock on the East London Line and started my spotting days on the platform at Honor Oak Park, I find the whole concept of the Overground fascinating.... Clapham Junction - 14 March 2013 Queens Park - 6 March 2013 Honor Oak Park - 4 April 2012
  16. A couple of East Kent Park Royal bodied AEC Regent Vs taken at Birchington sometime in 1971
  17. I'm rather ignorant of such matters so was wondering where this gantry at Raynes Park, taken in June 2014, fits into the overall scheme of things?
  18. Lived in Honor Oak Park from 1964-1971 - my local station. Those signal posts take me back to my very early spotting days.
  19. A ten car formation, made up of two former Wessex 442 electric multiple units, passes Salfords at speed with the 1536 hours London (Victoria) to Brighton service on Saturday 14 April 2012. Trains from 3 different operators - TfL Overground, Southern, First Capital Connect (FCC) - take up capacity on the four track 'racetrack' between Forest Hill and Honor Oak Park. Nearest the camera is 319379 on a Brighton to Bedford service - 4 April 2012.
  20. Yeah, but from reading many of these threads, its always Dapol's fault
  21. The only real problem is the non heritage gricers on the platforms.
  22. For some inexplicable reason I actually have a soft spot for the 319s....... Network South East's 319025 speeding past Salfords on what is probably a Bedford to Brighton service during February 1989. You can imagine standing on the platform at Tulse Hill..............This is how blues band Nine Below Zero used to intro their rendition of Riding on the L & N back in the late 70s. The comparison is missing a lot as NSE's 319022 silently glides into the station with a Wimbledon loop to Luton service in early 1989.
