  1. Anything that arrives will be better than I can manage with a kit, and looking at the fidelity of the GT3 and Fell I don’t think I have anything to worry about was hoping for a 2022 delivery, but that was based upon my own totally uninformed and uninvolved reckoning

I just pre-ordered the garter blue BR version announced a couple of weeks back.

Magazines can only review the mode in front of them - maybe there was no problem with the model. plus, magazines know about the Hornby announcements in advance so they can print the news in the Jan issues of their mags. So it is quite possible that the issues with the W1 weren’t known at the time of printing
  4. i would expect that the loco would be named ‘lion’ or have no name at all and that something like the house being painted a different colour would be along the lines of acceptable if such a compromise were to occur. But even if Hornby has done nothing wrong legally, this is a big problem PR wise . We should all be marvelling at steam generators, turbomotives and black 5s. But we aren’t…
  5. Rapido’s statement indicates that their license was exclusive
  6. I think this is a bit of a bridge too far for Hornby this time. And more’s the pity - superb range of models being announced and I think a good portion of it is going to be drowned out
  7. Getting a tad personal folks - perhaps best to return to the model trains and leave aside the board members of Hornby?
  8. I personally think that an S160 could well be due, with perhaps a redo of the class 50. I doubt we will see to many brand new toolings - despite the profits of Hornby in 2020 I doubt that they would like to go too far too fast, so maybe three or four locos (and don’t forget that ‘Lion’ has already been announced)

a few posts back someone described fitting some thin washers between the rear bogie fitting and the main chassis to lower the bogie marginally
  10. Looks great - I had hit upon a similar idea myself - Peel Godred and Arlesdale are two of my planned layouts, so i shall be reading with great interest
  11. 009 Russell? (Mentioned only because I want one)

were the pieces in the box? If they are then it’s entirely possible that it suffered the damage after dispatch from Kernow

I believe after the rebuild it was considered, but never came close to being used.

This is getting dangerously close to politics now folks - let’s get back to the model trains

Difficult to prove - some have arrived perfectly fine and from mine I can tell you that the packaging is pretty much identical to all of the other ‘ice cube’ packages in my collection and came through without a scratch on the model despite what was obviously a serious whack

    New Hornby Rocket

I don’t see any of the ‘beam engine’ type locos (locomotion, Sans Pareil etc) ever being made. Without the beams actually doing anything they will look terrible, and if the beams are made to work they will be so delicate as to be impractical because they willl be too delicate at anything approaching scale appearance. I think it’s far more likely that ‘Planet’ will make an appearance myself.

If it is any comfort, mine was delivered a couple of days back perfectly safe and sound. I think I ordered about the same time as you, so I’d expect you to get yours soon. Fingers crossed it’s okay

I would like to add my voice to the ‘it’s fine’ brigade on here. Not happy with the delivery but the model itself is flawless for me and I’d have no qualms recommending it to anyone

The delivery I am less enamoured with. If I place a £220 order with Hattons, Rails, Kernow et al, it is almost always here the day after ordering, sometimes in about 18 hours. Not five days. Bad mark for Hornby there. and they all use better packaging than this. My standards are not too high, but I’d prefer if my £220 model was not protected by a box with no bubble wrap THAT YOU CAN SEE DAYLIGHT THROUGH. Very very poor showing from Hornby here. Will think very long and hard before I order from them directly again

Well, mine opened. Subject to the running test I am extremely happy with the model nothing bent, broken or missing
  23. Has there been any news? For some reason my email address appears to decide at random intervals not to accept the KR Models newsletters so I was wondering if I had missed anything on the ‘leader’

Well. Mine has arrived from Hornby and appears to be undamaged according to my dad (who took delivery). We shall see
