  1. Any news on this project? Been a while since I’ve seen anything anywhere
  2. Hmmm sorry to say, for my personal taste the purple is too light. Looks like it’s there to advertise Cadbury’s chocolate and not celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
  3. Last I heard, delivery was expected some time in Q2, but of course I’ll defer to those who are actually making the model on that one
  4. Riding costs I’m afraid - costs of fuel, maintenance and the like have shot through the roof these past few years and seem increasingly likely never to come down again. I agree, it’s unpleasant as a punter, but thems the breaks unfortunately. Won’t stop me as if I’m on a day out somewhere the difference between a £15 day rover and a £40 compartment ticket isn’t that much of a consideration really. I get that not everyone is in such a fortunate position, but that’s where I am on it anyway.
  5. I don’t understand the level of schadenfreude being expressed because red bull didn’t finish, but it was a good race to listen to on the radio
  6. Looking forward to it - have convinced my girlfriend that her daughter needs an appreciation of steam trains to be considered properly educated, so I’m seizing the chance to go to this with them both
  7. Red Bull is now stating that Christian Horner has made no comment to the press and that they have no idea where that quote came from. Furthermore they have said that they have no comment to make on the Mercedes car. I sense a journalist at least jumping the gun a bit there
  8. Masi couldn’t have got the call right at the end of the Grand Prix - if he did what he did then he’s accused of messing with Hamilton’s title, and if he hadn’t done it then there would have been equal howling in the opposite direction that he didn’t give Verstappen the chance to win the title on his new tyres. No chance of him being right in those circumstances. it’s now a new championship year, so I hope that we can drop this topic soon
  9. The Vale of Rheidol too - although it’s engines are a tad younger than the FR or the TR
  10. BR Black B12 for £79. Very good price in my opinion - snapped one up myself https://www.hattons.co.uk/250829/hornby_r3545_class_b12_3_4_6_0_61556_in_british_railways_black/stockdetail
  11. I quite like this idea - and if someone decides to cash in by producing a Hornby model of it then I am willing to buy lol
  12. I do not believe so - there was a big kerfuffle that Skarloey and Rheneas were so easily convertible into the TR locos and the TTTE license holder felt that this was pushing the terms of the license somewhat. Hence why the Rusty and Peter Sam models are not too close to Midlander and Edward Thomas in scale model terms
  13. They look good. Makes me feel good about the GCR/LNER transitional livery one I have on order
  14. Just for the record, my pre orders for everything from the 2021 & 2022 Hornby ranges (which include 2007) are all still active with kernow- the only thing I have lost out on is a SDJR coach. So those with existing orders - it would appear that Kernow intends (and believes it can) honour these orders and is only restricting new orders until they have clarity over exactly how many they have to sell.
  15. Typical. Unexpected £150 in my pocket and the Porterbrook Deltic is sold out… doh
  16. I believe the choice of 15” was more or less taken out of the hands of the railway builders - locos 1,2 & 3 were originally destined for the estate railway of Count Louis Zbrowski and the order was only taken on by Howey after the count’s death at the Italian Grand Prix 15” was also the gauge of some of Capt Howey’s old locos (Colossus was, I believe the first pacific loco to run in the UK) and allowed the use of some off the shelf/second hand equipment from Arthur Heywood & Basset-Lowke who favoured the gauge.
  17. At the bare minimums, a lot of time and effort has been put into this project: the only way to see any returns is to make the model. We will see, I don’t claim any special knowledge beyond interpretation of available info
  18. One would assume that having promised the sets that they were in a position to expect to deliver them. That would indicate that some level of money has been spent on it. That and the public commitment to do Lion adds up to a reasonable basis to continue production
  19. I sincerely doubt that Hornby will have invested this much in Lion without actually issuing the model. The same with the GWR wagon that the house rests on. But I expect that they will be issued as what they are, rather than their fictional identities
  20. As an aside, that’s a damn shame - lady with the lamp pack was under consideration for a future purchase of mine. Kind of miffed that’s not about any more
  21. Hi all, Quick query - when I try to buy the Mk5 sleepers on my work laptop the price is showing as £149.99, but when the same page is loaded on my phone (work laptop won’t let me buy things) the price is £179.99 Can someone shed light on this for me?
  22. mid say the intermediate step would be the ‘coca cola’ train set or the like. Still cheap, but a definite step towards the main range. Also useful because the play trains stuff can still be run on it
  23. I believe that Sir Nigel Gresley will also be about at some point in Feb (if she’s not there already) for running in purposes
  24. I buy from Kernow and Hattons mostly, but my W1 was a purchase directly from Hornby because my pre-order was cancelled and it was already sold out everywhere else. It’s horses for courses as far as I am concerned. Hornby guarantee availability but almost never discount anything whereas the retailers can usually give a discount but can’t guarantee the availability because of the nature of things now. not sure that there can be a hard and fast ‘rule’ for how to get cheaper. Just play it by ear with the items you want
